California Governor Signs Bills to Bolster Gun Control
AP News ^ | September 25, 2024

California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed several gun control measures Tuesday, including one that allows the court to consider stalking and animal cruelty as grounds to restrict access to firearms.

The state already has some of the strictest gun laws in the country. The new laws signed by Newsom will expand restrictions on who could own firearms, prevent the proliferation of “ghost guns” and increase protections for domestic violence survivors.

“California won’t wait until the next school shooting or mass shooting to act,” the Democratic governor said in a statement. “In the absence of congressional action, our state is once again leading the way by strengthening our nation-leading gun laws.”

once again leading the way by strengthening our nation-leading gun laws.

Which won't do a damned thing to stop a crazy person indoctrinated in your Public School system or on your welfare plantation.

It’s time to lock that bass turd, Newsom up for violating the Second Amendment of the the Bill of Rights. Those rights belong to the American People. They were not written to give fat fag politicians something else to play with.

“unconstitutional”

Not even in the Ca dictionary. They have already passed and got away with so many unconstitutional laws that over half are unconstitutional.

The legislator might not care but CA has been slapped across the face several times for unconstitutional gun laws. Do you realize that CA is will issue state now. No more BS requirement to justify a CCW.

“animal cruelty”

Did he just ban hunting? Could it be used as such? Will the judge be a member of PETA?

Bet on it...

Layers of laws do nothing. Stupid people think it’s getting something done. The real issue is that our country is mentally ill and law enforcement is purposely ineffective by politicians.

Very very few compared to the unconstitutional laws still allowed to stay on the books. Their firearm import law as an example. Everyone who moves to Ca with firearms has to deal with this:

And there are many more like it.

Ya'll don't think his timing was intended purposely, do you? Just kidding. He does want to show them he's ready to roll with section (h)

Action 14. We will protect all civilians in armed conflict.

35. We condemn in the strongest terms the devastating impact of armed conflict on civilians, civilian infrastructure and cultural heritage, and we are particularly concerned about the disproportionate impact of violence on women, children, persons with disabilities and other persons in vulnerable situations in armed conflict. Genocide, crimes against humanity and warcrimes, including deliberate attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure, are prohibited under international law. We reaffirm our commitment to our obligations under international law, including international humanitarian law, international human rights law and international refugee law. We decide to:

(a) Take concrete and practical measures to protect all civilians in armed conflict;

(b) Accelerate the implementation of our commitments under the children and armed conflict agenda;

(c) Restrict or refrain from, as appropriate, the use of explosive weapons in populated areas when their use may be expected to cause harm to civilians or civilian objects, including essential civilian infrastructure, schools, medical facilities and places of worship, in accordance with international law;

(d) Enable safe, rapid and unimpeded humanitarian access and assistance, and fully respect the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality and independence, in accordance with international humanitarian law and in full respect of General Assembly resolution 46/182 of 19 December 1991 and its related resolutions on strengthening the coordination of emergency humanitarian assistance of the United Nations;

(e) Respect and protect humanitarian personnel and United Nations and associated personnel, including national and locally recruited personnel, their facilities, equipment, transports and supplies, in accordance with our obligations under international law, including international humanitarian law;

(f) Respect and protect journalists, media professionals and associated personnel working in situations of armed conflict and reaffirm that they shall be considered as civilians in such situations, in accordance with international humanitarian law;

(g) Redouble our efforts to end impunity and ensure accountability for violations of international humanitarian law, most serious crimes under international law, including genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and other atrocity crimes and other gross violations, such as the use of starvation of civilians as a method of war and gender-based violence, including conflict-related sexual violence;

(h) Invite Member States to enact national legislation, regulations and procedures, where they do not already exist, to exercise control over the international transfer of conventional arms and military equipment that manage the risks that such transfers could facilitate, contribute or lead to violations of international humanitarian law and human rights law, and to ensure that such legislation, regulations and procedures are consistent with the obligations of States under applicable international treaties to which they are parties.

This cr@p continues because the Supreme Court refuses to read the 2nd and tell these tyrants what it means. Thank Scalia and his reasonable gun laws are just fine statement. Every time the Court makes some half@zz ruling strengthening the 2nd the tyrants just pass new laws and enforce them with new zeal, innocent people are then required to spend a fortune to assert the right that the Supremes fail to protect.

As some wag said you can have all the justice you can afford.

“Why would anyone voluntarily move to California??”

They pay the highest rate of welfare, SNAP, housing credits, free medical, etc.

They are trading productive tax income with a welfare and controlled populous.

And the rest of us are paying for it. Ca is the #1 recipient of federal tax dollars.

CA is will issue state now

Try using a gun in CA for self defense. The attorneys and prosecutors will line up to determine if you slipped and they'll make damn sure you fall. In CA they're attempting to make self defense illegal. Do one tiny thing wrong during a self defense event and they'll come after you and make sure the consequences for the defender will be life changing severe.

In CA they've emboldened the criminals and illegals, but have made self defense an extremely risky affair.

I see two things, gun control is only for legal owners? I'm sorry Kamala, the other thing is that shooters are mentally ill, why is it not prevented by monitoring these people?
