Imagine if you will, a world in which businesses exist to make a profit, and free people consent to labor for these businesses in exchange for pay, and then a government comes in and legislates that these businesses pay their new employees a price they cannot (or do not want to) afford, so they eliminate the positions, fire the workers, and remove a service to paying customers they once provided—and certain people (read, average Democrat voters) still can’t figure out what factor in the equation caused the whole mess.

The Landlady's Tale By SWORDMAKER copyright 2000Preface The following story was told to me by the woman who rented my parents their first home in California when they moved to Sacramento in 1939. A devout Catholic (so much so that although she had been divorced by her husband, she did not consider the divorce valid and did not remarry until her husband died many years later) the landlady swore on her Bible, in front of my sister and me after she told us the story, that it was absolutely true. She was quite serious about it.In the 1970s, I personally...

Please pray for my family and me and the adopted God family of my lovely Lady Kathleen Elizabeth. I found her dead in her recliner in the living room this morning when I woke up as I greeted her with my usual “good morning. I love you.” She had passed away, apparently peacefully about 3AM. Kathy had taken early retirement just 18 months ago, looking for a long well earned retirement after 40 years of being a Registered Nurse and Certified Case Manager for Workers Comp. She was joyful at having escaped from California’s insanity to the sane State of...

My Lady and I frequently sit out on our front porch in Saint George, Utah, which is located in the south west corner of Utah. It is an almost ideal place for watching star. Unfortunately Saint George’s growth in population means we are starting to get some light pollution from street lights and commercial growth. We have also been the unfortunate beneficiaries of California’s Forest and Wild Fires of late which degrade our ability to see the stars and other astronomical sights above our fair city and state. Last evening had singularly good viewing among the nights we’ve been having...

Security researchers from Cornell University have found a web browser attack that affects both macOS and Windows computers. Unlike other browser-based attacks, this one does not use JavaScript. The hack is the first JavaScript-free browser side-channel attack ever discovered. Rather than using the popular scripting language, the exploit was built entirely with CSS and HTML.Though new, Apple’s M1 chipset is not protected from this attack and maybe more vulnerable to this exploit, claim the researchers in a recently published paper (via AppleInsider). It is described as being “architecturally agnostic” attacking Samsung, AMD, and even Apple’s new silicon, says The 8-Bit blog.In fact,...

With the successful arrest, prosecution and sentencing of Joseph DeAngelo, Sacramento District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert wanted to provide a voice to all those affected by the East Area Rapist. Several months ago, she invited those who lived in the Sacramento region during the 1970’s to email their stories to the DA’s Office. The response was overwhelming. Hundreds of individuals responded, recounting their experience and memories during that terrifying time. These stories have been put into an online book to share with the entire Sacramento community. This book is dedicated to all of the direct survivors and victims of the...

The Supreme Court has denied a Texas effort Friday that would have essentially nullified the presidential elections in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia and Wisconsin. “The State of Texas’s motion for leave to file a bill of complaint is denied for lack of standing under Article III of the Constitution,” the Supreme Court’s order reads. “Texas has not demonstrated a judicially cognizable interest in the manner in which another State conducts its elections. All other pending motions are dismissed as moot.”
