Imagine if you will, a world in which businesses exist to make a profit, and free people consent to labor for these businesses in exchange for pay, and then a government comes in and legislates that these businesses pay their new employees a price they cannot (or do not want to) afford, so they eliminate the positions, fire the workers, and remove a service to paying customers they once provided—and certain people (read, average Democrat voters) still can’t figure out what factor in the equation caused the whole mess.

California has legislated that businesses with more than 60 employees who provide delivery service must pay delivery drivers a minimum wage of $20 an hour. This is causing these companies, Pizza Hut franchisees among them, to lay off those drivers. Great idea idiot politicians.

Their final checks should have a note in the envelope encouraging them to Thank their Local Democrat for their raise.

We had a Pizza Hut here but it closed like 10 years and was replaced by a something(can’t remember) but that closed a few months later ,LOL

Delivery isn’t in Pizza Hut’s DNA. When I worked there 40 years ago, there was no delivery in Connecticut. It was largely sit-down. Domino’s was built on delivery. As founder Tom Monoghan put it “I am not in the pizza business; I am in the pizza delivery business.” This is an existential threat to Domino’s.

Watch all those illegals snatch up these jobs in a heartbeat while we hear college kids gripe they’re taking their jobs.

Profit margins at fast food places and pizza places are Slim.
So with the government mandating an additional cost of doing business , something has to give.
I’ve heard some of the pizza places who are laying off drivers , will still do delivery , but it will be through services such as doordash.

Here We have small Pizza Hut delivery only places. You can walk in and order one but there are no dining areas.................

Minimum wage isn’t what someone must be paid, it is a outlawing of any job not worth that much money.

DoorDash. UberEats. Etc. They can do delivery through a third party.
To: Red Badger
I doubt it. If I had to go to the trouble of driving out for pizza it wouldn’t be a lousy Domino’s. That would be the last pizza. Even Little Caesars is better.

I’ve heard some of the pizza places who are laying off drivers , will still do delivery , but it will be through services such as doordash.Yes. But I wouldn't want to order through doordash. I prefer to get it delivered directly from the source because you can call them if there's something wrong with the order.
To: Swordmaker
Now instead of crappy paying jobs they have no jobs. Stupid leftists.
