Voted at 8am in PA(northern Allegheny County) Leafy upper-middle class Republican suburb of Pittsburgh.

About 100 folks there - had to wait in line 20 minutes, usually there is no line. All voters over 40, mostly men.

Yes! Both my spouse and I are voting Republican for the first time since Bush I. In PA.

Now that you have us, don’t go all weak in the knees. We came to win. Crying is for the other side.

Yes this whisper thing is happening everywhere - that is why I’m dumbfounded by the polls this election. I was having dinner with two guy co-workers who live in California (one from LA and the other SF) and this exact same thing happened. Once it came out that we were all McCain supporters, we were all relieved and had a great conversation. And both are/were Democrats.

I saw Luntz come on and reached for the remote. I’m betting if Fox conducted a focus group of its viewers, Luntz would be looking for a new gig.

I have a house in Naples and lived there full-time during the 2004 election. No way is Obama tied with McCain!

Naples is so conservative that Bush never came down to campaign - he sent Cheney. Naples was one of the only places outside of Wyoming where Cheney was hugely popular.

Well the only bumper sticker that is mandatory is a Steelers one. I think people all over don’t like political bumper stickers as much as yard signs because of worries over vandalism, road-rage. You’d have to be pretty ballsy to go after someone’s house.

On a somewhat funny note, my spouse took a big shipment down to the bulk mail center in North Pittsburgh on his way to the airport. They decided it needed a very thorough inspection and he couldn’t figure out why at first - then realized he had a McCain bumper sticker visible on his pickup that was backed up to the loading dock - and the postal guy was, shall we say, of the Obama persuasion.

At any rate, the whole thing took so long, he missed his flight and had to spend an extra $100 to change it. Thanks Obama, for already reaching into our pockets!

This really ticks me off. My family is below $250K now because one of us is is now running a fledgling small business, but for many years we were up there but at the same time had many kids to support plus helping elderly parents. We were comfortable, definitely not rich.

In order to get there, we worked our butts off, put each other through college (state schools as were wrong ethnicity for pass into Harvard) while raising kids and worked long, hard hours at super stressful jobs. But according to the closet-Marxist presidential pretender, families like mine are supposed to hand over more of our hard-earned money so he can give it to the crackhead across town that contributes nothing to society? No way, no how!

I agree with you. Just seeing her name in a headline on here conjures up her scowling image. Ick.

I’m guessing she won’t be “really proud of her country” anymore when we give O and his wealth redistribution the big thumbs-down next Tuesday.

Can’t say that I’m sad. I made the mistake of reading a few of the Palin-bashing articles by one of its writers, Jimmy Orr, and thought that the tone in each was very troubling for a publication with the word “Christian” in its name.

I’m in Western PA and have a Democrats for McCain sign in my front yard! Both the spouse and I have voted Democrat since Clinton (before that, Reagan and Bush I the first time) and we are now happily supporting McCain/Palin. (We are in a suburb of Pittsburgh)

I can attest that I have never seen so many yard signs - did not see near as many for GW in the past to elections. In my neck of the woods, you would think that no one but Republicans were running for anything!

I was in Squirrel Hill yesterday (heavily Jewish and liberal area in the city of Pittsburgh that also has tons of CMU/Pitt students) and while there were many Obama signs, there were a surprising amount of McCain signs too.

One other thing I forgot to mention is that on local Pittsburgh channels, we are seeing Obama commercials 4-1 over McCain now - it was about even a few weeks ago. Every single one of them is attacking McCain on health care.

If McCain wants to win here, he needs to spend more. Why he is not running an ad on the bitter-clinger comment baffles me - that really ticked people off.

I line in SW PA in a suburb north of Pittsburgh. In this neck of the woods you wouldn’t think anybody but McCain and Republicans were running - MCain and Hart(Melissa)signs everywhere - very uplifting to drive around.

From the folks I know here, everyone who voted Republican in 04 is going McCain and the 04 Dems are split with about a 20-30% going McCain - maybe more - alot of the blue-collar folks don’t seem to want to talk about the election. The latest PA polls look very odd to us, but maybe they are reflecting Philly.

I’m one. Haven’t voted Republican since my vote for Bush I with the exception of a few local races. I’m no PUMA though and have been leaning McCain since the primaries.

This will be the easiest vote for me ever - no research needed on any candidate - straight ticket Republican. My spouse, who is way more of a Dem than I ever was, will be doing the same. Keeping my registration as a Dem for now to send a message, after Nov 4 I’m changing it to Republican. It’ll be a long, long time before I consider voting for a Democrat.

I’m also done with CNN and I cancelled my Newsweek subscription of 20 years a few weeks ago. Why? Not only is Obama a complete fraud who has skated into everything using the affirmative action pass to escape scrutiny of his anti-American views and friends, but also the hideous attacks on Palin by the media and the deranged left. I just love that woman - I cried with joy when I found out McCain had chosen her.

Yes, about time! Many of the squishy middle I’ve talked to don’t know anything about Obama’s relationship with the unrepentant terrorist Ayers.

Time for the campaign to stop being so stupidly honorable in the face of blatant and sickening media cheerleading for Obama and open up a can of whoop-butt. Sarah’s perfect to do it since she can speak plainly about it and get right to the heart of the matter. And the Left despises her anyways so make their heads explode - go, Sarah, go!

BTW - I’m still struggling to understand why on earth a known terrorist who tried to blow up citizens of his own country is allowed to roam around free, living the good life and infecting the minds of young people. Unbelievable.

  • Rasmussen: 45% Say Biden Won Debate, 37% Say Palin

Thank the in-the-tank media for this poll (conducted after the spin was in). Don't know if you saw these SUSA results on the veep debate, but they are very telling on the role of media bias and its effect on people:

Having Slept on it, State of Washington Drifts Slightly to Biden in Scoring the VP Debate … The day after Thursday night’s debate between Republican Sarah Palin and Democrat Joe Biden, SurveyUSA again polled the state of Washington. This follows a poll conducted by SurveyUSA Thursday night, seconds after the debate.

The first poll was conducted before pundits could have influenced what debate watchers thought. This, the 2nd poll, conducted Friday, was completed after some national polls showed that Biden had performed well in the debate, and after both campaigns had time to ’spin’ the results.

Of debate watchers: 36% today Friday say Palin was the clear winner, down 6 points from 42% Thursday night. 41% today Friday say Biden was the clear winner, up 2 points from 39% Thursday night. 22% today Friday say there was no clear winner, up from 18% Thursday night.

Well, look what I found buried at the bottom of the Star-Trubune report:

“The poll detected a significant increase in Minnesotans who label themselves as Democrats. Forty-two percent of likely voters identified themselves as Democrats, compared with 27 percent who said they were independents, and 26 percent who said they were Republicans.”

Mystery solved. If I were the Star-Trib, I’d be more than a little skeptical of such a huge jump in party identity in a short time and would feel compelled to educate the readers on what a 95% confidence interval really means (versus the margin of error that the public usually focuses on). In shorthand - methinks they got a wonky sample for this poll.
