I've forgotten who to send this to for a prayer chain, so I'm doing it myself. If you will, please pray for FReeper Null and Void, who is having surgery today in Reno. He's due to report at 7. He'll be having surgery at maybe 9 or so, but please cover my dearest (agnostic) friend in prayer. Thanks so much. S.

A CHRISTMAS STORY TO REMEMBER It was Christmas Eve 1881. I was fifteen years old and feeling like the world had caved in on me because there just hadn't been enough money to buy me the rifle that I'd wanted for Christmas. We did the chores early that night for some reason. I just figured Pa wanted a little extra time so we could read in the Bible. After supper was over I took my boots off and stretched out in front of the fireplace and waited for Pa to get down the old Bible. I was still feeling sorry...

Houston, TX — A completely innocent man was shot, tasered, brutally beaten, and had stun grenades thrown at him by vicious and incompetent SWAT officers. Then, those same officers tried to cover up their mistake by charging the victim, Chad Chadwick, with six criminal offenses including felony assault on a police officer. This incident happened in 2011, but it has taken Chadwick three years and his entire life savings, to finally beat the charges that he was falsely accused of. Last month, a jury found Chad Chadwick not guilty of interfering with police. With tears in their eyes members of...

A 17-year-old has been arrested for allegedly shooting a toddler in southeast Atlanta, police said Monday. Meanwhile, the 1-year-old boy is in danger of losing his arm and will undergo a second surgery, his family said. Investigators believe Rodrickus Robinson was caught in the crossfire when a group of men started shooting at each other Saturday night at Forest Cove Apartments on New Town Circle. Early Monday, Levar Antwan Reed was arrested in connection with the shooting, Officer Kim Jones with Atlanta police said.

I have a prayer request. I am having cancer surgery on Sept 16. Less than two weeks away. I'm having a mastectomy, with reconstruction. It all gets done (or at least started) on the table. Please pray for my fear, which is usually at the manageable level. And that I make it through surgery. I'll be in the hospital for one day. I opted to stay with my surgical oncologist that operated on me two years ago (cancer then too) for many reasons, one being he's THE breast cancer surgeon in Middle GA. Trouble is, after I was diagnosed, I've...

I was helping a young lady last night (age 20), whose mother had kicked her out the night before for making out with a young man in his car in the driveway. YL had been kicked out with a sleeveless shirt, no shoes, no coat, and no medicine (she had surgery several weeks ago on her back) and the mom literally threw her out into the yard. The mom was apparently incoherent with rage and they could barely even understand what she was screaming at them. They're still not sure why she flipped out like that. She also kept YL's...

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – It almost sounds like the makings of a joke: an atheist, a Muslim and the Mechanicsburg Halloween parade. But non-believers aren’t laughing about an attack and insist what’s really frightening is the way a district judge ruled on it. The Atheists of Central Pennsylvania decided to walk in the Mechanicsburg Halloween parade. There was a zombie Pope and a zombie Muhammed. On YouTube, you can catch a scary moment. It’s dark and distorted, but a Muslim man comes off the curb extremely offended at Muhammed being depicted in this way. “He grabbed me, choked me from the...

A close friend of mine faced an incident on Friday, in Macon, GA. At a gas station, a young black man accosted my friend (former Marine sniper and recon) with a knife and demanded his wallet. He'd been robbed before and didn't shoot the robber, this time he didn't have his weapon, but still declined to turn over his wallet. The man said he'd cut him if he didn't turn it over, and Greg told him to go for it. The man swung the knife and it got caught up in Greg's shirt tail. Greg punched the guy in the...

A small town in Arizona is suddenly a YouTube sensation after a town-hall meeting devolved into a physical clash as a woman was forcibly removed from speaking during the public portion of the event. Jennifer "Jade" Jones, 45, of Quartzsite, Ariz., was taken into custody by local police at the behest of Quartzsite councilmembers, over the objections of the mayor, who pleaded with officers not to remove the woman.

Joel recently passed away while saving his son from drowning. Dear Friends, Joel Fegarido's wife, Eva, submitted an essay to Charter Communication for a chance to win 50 laptops for the small Christian school where Joel was School Board Chairman. It will be based on the number of votes. Out of approx 8000 submissions hers was in the top 50 submissions. She would really love to be able to make a donation of laptops to the school in Joel’s name. This would not cost anything, except the little time it takes to vote. So if you can, take a minute...

Most people know very little about Scientology aside from the fact that Tom Cruise, John Travolta and other celebrities are a part of it, and that it's had its fair share of controversy over the years. A new book is looking to pull back the curtain on the mysterious religion founded by L. Ron Hubbard, and the author certainly knows her stuff. Amy Scobee is a former Scientologist who was in the church for more than two decades, and worked in the all-important Celebrity Centers portion of the organization. In her just-released book, 'Scientology: Abuse at the Top,' Scobee details...

A technician in the NYPD's forensics lab has been suspended for allegedly falsifying drug-test results, throwing into question "maybe thousands" of criminal cases -- and prompting a panicked meeting yesterday between cops and the city district attorneys. A Bronx drug trial was even abruptly halted last week because the longtime lab technician, Mariem Megalla, was supposed to testify in that case, sources told The Post. The NYPD last week sent out an emergency e-mail to the city's five DAs warning them about the evidence disaster and telling them to examine pending felony case files for evidence tested by her. In...

Austin police officer Leonardo Quintana used excessive deadly force in a fatal shooting last year and was so reckless in his tactics that his actions may have been criminal, a consultant concluded in a confidential report obtained by the American-Statesman. The 162-page report by KeyPoint Government Solutions, which was hired by the City of Austin to independently investigate the fatal shooting of Nathaniel Sanders II, reached conclusions that stand in contrast to the findings of police Chief Art Acevedo, who found that Quintana had not used excessive force or poor tactics. The consultant's report was completed last fall, but its...

An NYPD officer sold out his badge - and handed over his gun and other police equipment - to a crime crew that posed as cops to rob drug dealers, the feds charged Thursday. Emmanuel Tavarez even took part in at least four of the stickups, acting as lookout in case real cops showed up, authorities said.~snip~"The crimes alleged to have been committed by Emmanuel Tavarez are a slap in the face to the vast majority of law enforcement officers in New York City who are dedicated to upholding the law," said John Gilbride, special agent in charge of the...
