Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer will find it harder to maneuver in 2025 after Republicans took control of the state House.
The GOP win forces the Democrat to negotiate or be relegated to lame-duck status her last two years in Lansing.
Republicans entered Tuesday’s election with a 56-54 disadvantage. After controlling the lower chamber for the better part of four decades, they lost the House in 2022. Two years later, they’ve retaken it, winning three of the four races they targeted.

Our hard-fought victory reaffirms that the people of Michigan want leaders who put them first, uphold the rule of law, and advocate for accountability at every level of government,” House Republican Leader Matt Hall told The Post.
Hall is expected to be Michigan’s next House speaker.
“With a Republican majority, Michigan will have a stronger voice fighting for the values of hardworking families and addressing the issues that matter most — safe schools and neighborhoods, an affordable economy, and a government that provides value for dollars,”

There are 110 Michigan House seats.
While Republicans will retake the House majority, and President-elect Donald Trump won the state over Kamala Harris, officials are still counting ballots.

Good to hear.

I’m not going to hold my breath waiting on these people to force a democrat to negotiate.
Abortion or not, she’s another soulless narcissist
Democrats weren’t counting on Trump supporters voting early. It made it harder to steal.
Gretchen Witchmer.
And why did MI lose both the state house and state senate that were held for decades? Because the state-level GOPe sucks and no one voted for them including me. The MI GOPe held the state house after the WHitler win and DID nothing to look into the steal. They could have sent a bill to WHitler every damned day to veto but they did NOTHING and that is likely why they lost as the days of voting for the lesser of evils ended years ago here.
And oh, term limits do not work either. What happens is that the left puts their people machine in place long before the vote, the state GOPe does not do this much and then loses for lack of name recognition.
The climate will not change one little bit. God controls it.
It's all about M O N E Y.
Hopefully they don’t have any Mitt Romney types to deal with while they have thin majority.
Whitler, for her dictatorial style during Covid.
Here in GA the grassroots rose up and elbowed aside much of the GOPe in the Winter 2022 caucus and convention cycle, which elects county, Congressional District, and state leadership. This happened in multiple counties.

I knew there was hope for Michigan. Not so sure about Minnesota.
Best news of the day:
Republicans took control of the Michigan state House relegating the
odious gov Whitmer to lame-duck status her last two years in Lansing.
JD will have the free time to challenge her to a debate. As a lame duck she needs to make plans for her next move. Another female nominee in ‘28? Just suggest the 3rd time could be the charm.
Uber-RINO arlan meekoff and especially Mike Shirkey, who ran blocker against patriot republicans and a greedy mean streak shutting down anyone MAGA, speaking truth to power, promoting opposition to Whitmers reign of error. “Our Friends wouldn’t like it” meaning donors and corrupt establishment politicians tied to the taxpayer-to-bureaucracy-to-corporate sponsors gravy train.
MI citizens could not see any difference between D and R candidates and were left stunned and silent.
