Democrat Rick Perry supported a $5.7 billion tax hike in 1987, which was opposed by most Republican lawmakers and "triggered the largest tax increase ever passed in modern Texas. This is the year before he was state chair for Al Gore for President in 1988.

In a letter to Clinton about Hillarycare in 1993 , Perry wrote:

“I think your efforts in trying to reform the nation’s health care system are most commendable.”

“I would like to request that the task force give particular consideration to the needs of the nation’s farmers, ranchers, and agriculture workers, and other members of rural communities,” Perry continued, noting his administration’s focus on economic development for rural Texans.

“Rural populations have a high proportion of uninsured people, rising health care costs, and often experience lack of services.”

“Again, your efforts are worthy,” Perry concluded, ”and I hope you will remember this constituency as the task force progresses.”

In 2001, Perry expressed his pride in the enactment of the statute extending in-state tuition to children of undocumented workers.

    He said:

We must say to every Texas child learning in a Texas classroom, we don't care where you come from, but where you are going, and we are going to do everything we can to help you get there.

And that vision must include the children of undocumented workers.

Perry gladly used Obama stimilus to keep Texas Budget Balanced .

Texas, which crafts a budget every two years, was facing a $6.6 billion shortfall for its 2010-2011 fiscal years. It plugged nearly all of that deficit with $6.4 billion in Recovery Act money, allowing it to leave its $9.1 billion rainy day fund untouched.

Even as Perry requested the Recovery Act money, he railed against it. On the very same day he asked for the funds, he set up a petition titled “No Government Bailouts.”

Also , the amount of state debt has more than doubled since Perry became governor. Perry is another spend and borrow rino like George W. Bush

Nobody cares about when Perry is going to show at a rally or if he might cancel. He just shows up or not and hopes to be a side note in the days news and wishes upon a star that everyone would hype up about his comings and goings like they do Mrs. Palin. Then he might have an actual shot at winning.

What a LOAD of crap. She already has a book deal and a fox news deal and turned down a 2nd season of Palin's Alaska. She does not need to appear to be running for President to get good deals. And after building everyone up and letting everyone spend time and money building a ground team , if she does not run , she will be done in politics and can kiss all her good deals bye bye as noOne will ever read another book or tune in to watch her on tv.

This is the kind of plans Perry makes...

    Trans-Texas Corridor AKA NAFTA hwy

In January 2001, Perry proposed the Trans-Texas Corridor, a $145+ billion-dollar project that would build multi-lane highways, rail lines and data lines from Oklahoma to Mexico, and from east to west in southern Texas.

Instead of paying for the project with taxes, Perry proposed that it be partially financed, partially built and wholly operated by private contractors who, in exchange for a multi-billion dollar investment, would receive all toll proceeds, notably Cintra, a Spanish-owned company.

One of the more controversial aspects of the project was extensive use of eminent domain to acquire property. Opponents portrayed the proposal as a "land grab", and criticized Perry for opposing the public release of the actual terms of the 50-year deal with Cintra to the public for fear they would chill the possibility of the company's investment.

Perry's former liaison to the legislature, former State Senator Dan Shelly, returned to his consulting/lobbying work with Cintra after securing the TTC deal while on the state payroll.

All of Perry's gubernatorial opponents opposed the corridor project, as did the 2006 state party platforms of both the Democratic and Republicans parties.

I am never surprised at the bait most freepers take. This is supposed to be a conservative forum but most the people around here who make fun of rino’s are actually rino’s themselves. I remember when the ultimate Rino President was in office. Everyone worshipped Bush and Rove as he governed like a modern day LBJ. Even today , a lot of them have fallin in love again and their little hearts thump for Perry. It was the boots and hat because they completely ignore his record and life. Sort of like the Obama voters. Forget record and life , they bought the lies.
