Sarah Palin has not canceled her keynote speech for the Tea Party of America’s Saturday rally in Indianola, Iowa, according to the event’s organizers. Ken Crow, the founder of the Tea Party of America, told ABC News this morning that he “hung up with [Palin's] people five minutes ago” and “she’ll be here on Saturday.”

I just talked to someone very close to the event and she said as far as she knows the event is still on and both Palin and O'Donnell will be speaking.

If someone is responsible for a false report, they need to be shamed--big time.

Is she going to announce her candidacy or not?! Seems to me that she’s stretching conservatives patience. On 2nd thought, if Palin EVER throws her hat in I’m ready with $$ and time.

Did you know that anything Tina Fey says is a Sarah Palin quote?

“Ken Crow, the founder of the Tea Party of America...admitted that the organization’s encountered “a couple of errors” in planning the Sept. 3 rally.

“I’m naive when it comes to politics and what you are supposed to say to and not say and my crew and I are rookies at this sort of thing,” he said. “We made mistakes and now we are fixing them. It’s all good.”

Ken, you don’t have the luxury of being naive at this level. Get un-naive real quick or step aside. This would have hurt Palin badly in Iowa if she had bailed.

Something strange happened here. Organizers admitted a screw-up...

Seems to me that someone annoucing their candidacy for President of the United States would want more control of the venue. So either she’s not running, or her team are a bunch of amateurs.

No, there’s two more possibilities you overlooked:

1.Someone in TPoA is colossally stupid

or

2. That someone is working in the interest of a Palin rival.

Tea party people are amateurs. That's what makes it a genuine grassroots movement. If you want a well-oiled political machine, call Rove & Co.

Doesn’t matter. Get up to speed or don’t play the game. He took the mantle of leadership - he needs to be able to handle the responsibility. That’s a fundamental principle in conservatism.

A big part of that responsibility is a fast trip on the learning curve when you organize these types of events. People don’t remember hearts of gold and good intentions - they remember the candidate falling on their face. Fumbling around like this just makes everyone look stupid.

If Palin would have had to pull out due to this she’d have been toast in Iowa. Then she’d spend the rest of her campaign fixing the damage because one guy with a good heart don’t know his butt from a hole in the ground.

Yeah, and he even managed to get rid of O’Donnell at this rally.

Mysterious ways.

You bring up a good point. If Palin was not running for president, why would she care so much about controlling the venue and who would be on the stage with her? If her true motivation here is publicity seeking and book sales, as her detractors never hesitate to point out, then the more controversy, the better.

This episode is one of the clearest signs yet that she is running.
