The actor is joining with billionaire investors and philanthropists Laurene Powell Jobs and Brian Sheth to create a new nonprofit environmental powerhouse charged with tackling climate change and the loss of biodiversity. A man is dead after he was shot by a homeowner multiple times during an apparent home invasion Thursday afternoon in Schertz, according to authorities. The man was reportedly shot at 2:13 p.m. in a home in the 4000 block of Brook Hollow Drive, according to Schertz police. Detectives said the man had forced his way into the home while brandishing a handgun. Once inside, the homeowner shot the the man several times, investigators said. The man was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived, police said.

Thousands filed into Newton Thursday afternoon for the 128th annual Soldiers Reunion Parade. During the parade, Channel 9 saw that one man with a gun was taken into custody. Eyewitness News reporter Dave Faherty witnessed the incident and said the man went over to some Civil War re-enactors and pepper sprayed them.

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Fire Department announced the death of a 6-year-veteran of the agency during a massive 4-alarm fire at a strip center near Loop 410 and Ingram Road late Thursday night. Scott Deem died when he became trapped inside the fire at the Ingram Square shopping center, said Chief Charles Hood. Two other firefighters were injured in the fire were identified as Brad Phipps and Robert Vasquez. Phipps is in critical but stable condition, while Vasquez was treated at the hospital and released.
