Authorities say a barrel carrying human remains has been discovered in Lake Mead.Boaters spotted the barrel Sunday afternoon and the National Park Service was alerted.The agency said in a statement rangers searched an area near Hemenway Harbor and found the barrel with skeletal remains. The legislation, a wide-ranging package of new and revised bills, would limit the president’s pardon power, strengthen laws to ban presidents from receiving gifts or payments from foreign governments, better protect independent agency watchdogs and whistleblowers from firing or retribution and require better reporting by campaigns of foreign election interference.

A man allegedly attempting to rob a gas station was fatally shot by a customer Tuesday evening on the far West Side, police said. San Antonio police said they are investigating an overnight shooting that left windows shattered at a government agency office on the city's Northeast Side.
