Ted Cruz and John Kasich are ceding states to each other as part of a broader effort to stop Donald Trump, an abrupt change in strategy that the campaigns announced Sunday night. “To ensure that we nominate a Republican who can unify the Republican Party and win in November, our campaign will focus its time and resources in Indiana and in turn clear the path for Gov. Kasich to compete in Oregon and New Mexico, and we would hope that allies of both campaigns would follow our lead,” Cruz campaign manager Jeff Roe said in a statement. Previously, the Cruz...
  • TMZ: Unreleased video convinced prosecutors to forego charges against Lewandowski

The gossip site TMZ is reporting that authorities in Florida decided not to prosecute Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski because of a video provided to them by the Republican presidential front-runner’s campaign. The report cites anonymous sources who say the unreleased video shows then-Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields being told by a Secret Service agent she was standing in an off-limits area. The scene takes place before the alleged battery occurred. TMZ also says that prosecutors were swayed by an affidavit from Secret Service agent Barton Brown, who headed up former Attorney General Eric Holder’s security detail. The affidavit reportedly says...

This week in the Republican nomination race, Ted Cruz’s win in Wisconsin triggered buzz about how front-runner Donald Trump might be in trouble. Doubtless today’s win in Colorado will intensify the chatter, and will involve words like “momentum.” It is best to ignore all of that coverage – at least until some national polling data shows a sustained change. Why? Because states differ from one another, mostly in demographics but also in rules and various local factors. It is almost impossible to learn something new from a single race. To know where the race stands as a whole, it is...

“This event this morning is a celebration of strong women.” On Tuesday morning, Ted Cruz kicked off a Women for Cruz coalition in the liberal stronghold of Madison, Wisconsin. The senator was joined by his wife Heidi, mother Eleanor, and former presidential candidate Carly Fiorina for a conversation on issues considered important to women. In a change of pace from prior events, Cruz gave a shortened stump speech and focused on the meaning of the term “women’s issue,” itself: “This event this morning is a celebration of strong women. One of the most frustrating things about the Democrats is the...
  • Glenn Beck: 'No real Christian’ should support Trump

Glenn Beck on Thursday suggested that GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump is incompatible with Christians who take their faith seriously. “No Christian, no real Christian – I don’t mean a judgmental Christian, I mean somebody who is living their faith – no real Christian says, ‘I want that guy, that guy is for me,’” he said during a broadcast of his radio show. "Nobody, nobody.” Beck also argued America is moving away from its Christian underpinnings, causing myriad moral and social problems nationwide. “I honestly don’t know what else to do,” he said. "We have got to be a people...

Just got back from my caucus... My head is still spinning. Check in was slow but reasonably controlled. Super-long lines. I've never seen turnout like this. Got my credentials, but no presidential ballot. They said those would be delivered to our caucus room. Got to my caucus room. I counted about 120 people there (no idea how many were actually registered and credentialed). We elected Precinct Officers, State Delegates, and County Delegates - the typical incompetence and ignorance of the rules you'd expect to see from volunteers, but all went somewhat smooth. ...Then came the Presidential Ballot. Someone shows up...

Ted Cruz dumped his last campaignspokesperson after he joked about Marco Rubio’s faith. Now this… The Cruz camp’s latest spokesperson tried to stomp out the Tea Party. The Blaze reported: Ted Cruz’s new national spokesman, who replaced ousted spokesman Rick Tyler, came under fire last week for once hiring illegal immigrants and abusing the H-1B program when he was chairman of the Republican Party of California. However, Cruz’s new spokesman is now being exposed for an offense that Cruz supporters might find even more egregious: trying to stop the Tea Party movement. In the spring of 2009 when Americans were...

Trying to explain the significance of the last few days, in relationship to the Ted Cruz candidacy, requires the intellectually honest observer to recognize and/or accept the increasingly likely probability: we have been facing a manufactured “false dilemma” longer than most may be willing to accept. “False Dilemma” – the fallacy of false choice, or the fallacy of the false alternative, is a type of informal fallacy involving a situation in which only limited alternatives are considered, when in fact there is at least one additional option. In essence, presidential candidate Ted Cruz has been presented, by those who gain...
  • Cruz has yet to release promised tax returns

ATLANTA – Ted Cruz promised in the debate Thursday night to release twin more years worth of tax returns, as a tactic to pressure billionaire Donald Trump to release his own tax records. Two days later, Cruz has yet to do so, and aides put no deadline on the delay. “These things take time,” said Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier. “We’re working on pulling these together and we’re going to release them when they’re ready.”

Since the first GOP presidential debate last August, Fox News Channel seems to have lost its perception mojo with its core right-leaning audience. By mid February, FNC’s perception by Republican adults 18 and over had reached its lowest point in more than three years, and has declined by approximately 50% since January of this year. Coinciding with Trump’s rise to front-runner in the GOP presidential race, Fox News Channel has seen its perception by Republicans slide. In early August 2015, right after the first GOP debate aired on Fox News Channel,Trump went on a Twitter war with moderator Megyn Kelly,...

Amy Lindsay has appeared in films such as Erotic Confessions, Carnal Wishes, Secrets of a Chambermaid, and Insatiable Desires. "Had the campaign known of her full filmography, we obviously would not have let her appear in the ad," a Cruz campaign spokesman told BuzzFeed News. Ted Cruz's campaign has pulled its most recent ad, "Conservatives Anonymous," after learning one of the actresses in the spot is also a softcore porn star. The ad, which was set at a group therapy session of conservative voters who feel betrayed by Marco Rubio on immigration, featured actress Amy Lindsay, who played a woman...

This is one of those ah-ha moments when several political variables seem to reconcile simultaneously. For those who doubted the Earlier Tripwire, here's the evidence. There is a Super-PAC called "Stand for Truth" registered out of Lexington Kentucky headed by a guy named Eric Lycan. [Here's the link - search box "Stand for Truth"] Mr. Eric Lycan was Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's lawyer during his re-election campaign against Matt Bevin. Lycan also has deep tentacles within the entire GOPe apparatus, including the Chamber of Commerce. You can confirm identity from the filing paperwork and the reported contact information which...

By now most people are aware of the controversy surrounding Candidate Ted Cruz and his failure to reveal $1.3 million in campaign "loans" from Goldman Sachs and Citibank during his 2012 campaign for the senate. At the heart of the issue is a failure of Ted and Heidi Cruz to list Wall Street "loans" on the required Federal Election Commission financial reports. Together with the campaign officials the Cruz's say the non-reporting was an accidental oversight. However, a watch dog group has now filed a complaint with the FEC which is step one to beginning an FEC investigation. cruz goldman...

[snip] So it was a bit surprising Monday when the typically reserved [Iowa Gov.] Branstad lent credence to the inflammatory question of whether Ted Cruz, the Texas senator and co-front-runner in Iowa's Feb. 1 caucuses, is eligible to serve as president.
