GROSSE ILE -- The growing population of coyotes in southern Michigan worries Grosse Ile residents, but local officials are trying to reassure them that the canines don't pose an overall problem. Township Police Chief Bill Barron said about 20-25 coyotes roam the island, adding that is a high number. There have not been any attacks on humans, and the police department has no plans to set traps or shoot the coyotes. But the coyotes' presence is still unsettling to some residents. I apologize for the vanity- I am heartbroken today as my best friend and faithful companion has died. My tuff little Yorkie, Oscar, was killed last night by a coyote. The damn coyote snatched him right off of his rope in the backyard. Seems like the environmental nazi's want to keep all these killers alive so they can kill more domestic pets. He was my best friend in the whole world- his nickname was "Moleman"

<p>Republican Posthumus released a memo from Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick calling for 20 percent of the new governor's appointments to be African Americans. The mayor also requested in the memo that any new state office buildings be built in the city and that six of the major cabinet officials be Detroiters.</p>

DEARBORN -- Ford Motor Co. will file a countersuit today against a former human resources manager who sued the automaker for reverse discrimination and went public with internal company documents. Ford is asking a Wayne Circuit judge to find that John H. Kovacs, 36, breached his employment contract by removing company documents. Ford also is asking the court to order Kovacs to return the documents and forbid him and his lawyers from further disseminating the information.
