I mean, I was reading up on one case where a criminal defendant was convicted of fraud. And he joined with a—he joined with an unlikely alliance in that case, which wouldn‘t be the ordinary case. France sees role for self, U.N. in post-war Iraq By Tom Heneghan PARIS, March 18 (Reuters) - Far from feeling sidelined now that war is imminent, France sees itself as a key player in the next phase of the Iraq crisis when it comes to managing the country after Saddam Hussein is gone. One argument often heard recently was that France might not block the pro-war resolution Washington sought from the United Nations because it would have sidelined the Security Council. But Paris, whose threatened veto torpedoed the resolution, thinks it will stand aside only for the war phase in...

Can't find earlier post, but Drudge and all others did not post the entire quotes from Bush's press conference today. This is what he really said about the "leaks". And boy was he fired up when he said it too! Q: Mr. President, can you tell us what prompted you to write the memo to Congress about briefing on intelligence matters, why you think such restrictions are appropriate? And could you also address what threat you think these limited anthrax exposures pose more generally? Is it linked to terrorism at all? THE PRESIDENT: Well first, Mr. Chancellor, we had a ...

Police prepare for Cuban father's stay at Maryland home. BETHESDA, Md. (AP) _ Police in this Washington suburb have visited nearly every house within two blocks of a Cuban diplomat's home in preparation for the scheduled arrival of Juan Miguel Gonzalez, officials said Wednesday. Would someone please pay close attention to an exchange that occured between Burton & Nolan close to the end of the hearings in regards to the contract the WH signed yesterday with a company who is to retreive the E's etc. I think Burton already has plans to get all the tapes that are being stored; they are not going to wait 7-8 months for the WH to do it; and they have their own contractor do the retreival. (& I can't believe nobody picked up on this today during the discussions) We need someone to pay very close attention ...

Clinton Asks To Delay Test Ban Vote By TOM RAUM Associated Press Writer WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Senate plunged into debate on a global nuclear test-ban treaty today even as President Clinton urged lawmakers to delay a Tuesday vote that all sides agree would kill the agreement. ``I hope that the Senate will reach an agreement to delay the vote and to establish an orderly process, a nonpolitical orderly process, to systematically deal with all the issues that are out there and take whatever time'' is necessary, Clinton said. He spoke in Ottawa during talks with Prime Minister Jean Chretien. ...

Air Clinton? President tries a jump shot in political speeches ASPEN, Colo. (AP) — President Clinton tried to put a little bounce in a couple of political speeches over the weekend by telling Democratic supporters Republicans now regard him less as a "bad guy'' and more as a Michael Jordan of politics. Clinton meant that, in his view, the GOP hopes it can write off Clinton as an extraordinary successful Democrat the likes of whom, like His Airness, probably won't be seen again soon. "They're now basically saying, 'Oh, well, Bill Clinton is like Michael Jordan — he just jumps ...
