Perry has been lucky that Stelson hasn’t been very good at retail politics. Perry isn’t doing better, Stelson jist did worse last go around. Whether or not she has better advisors and staff this time is entirely up to her.

Nobody is arguing that he didn’t do it, especially among his supporters.

Him being a murderer is most of his appeal.

This won't be reassuring, but the chances the Iranian people got a Hollywood ending here was always next to zero. The best one could hope for, which might be playing out, is a fragcture opening up between the religious leadership of the Islamic Revolution and the military/police IRGC.

Without the religious authority of the ayatollahs, the IRGC is a military dictatorship, and one without clear and prepared leadership that will allow it to govern effectively.

If it bears out, the IRGC would be much more vulnerable and could morph into something a lot closer to Pakistan's form of government, which isn't particularly great, but it's a whole lot better than the Islamic revolution.

I’m sure people will rush to get their narratives out about his actual achievements or failures that will serve their own purposes.

Bongino and his family didn’t owe the administration four years, and political appointees flame out or move on to different roles all the time. The fact his family stayed in Florida probably hinted early that he was always going to leave before the term was up, maybe returning to radio for the midterms was always part of the plan.

He lent a hand at the beginning of the administration and probably did some good for a huge organization deeply stricken by partisan politics.

Maybe his role as a radio host is more important to the administration as the midterms heat up than having a prominent media personality stuck in organizational meetings and drafting memos (someone has to work on electing Republicans to Congress, the GOP sure isn’t putting much work into it and they’re unlikely to start.)

Politics aside, and I'm not discounting them as a reason, I think the idea of having to regularly travel to DC to brief Congress and constantly handle taskers from the Pentagon instead of getting to travel around the Carribean as a VIP on the government's dime and be largely ignored by the Pentagon had to play a role in the decisionmaking process.

Seriously though, this would be a giveaway that helps offset some of the economic pain that the tariffs have caused. A little encouragement to keep the faith while the nation claws its soul back from globalism. You could also call it an election year bribe, same thing really. The important part is winning.

This is the crux of the issue. A lot of GOP politicians don't want to repeal Obamacare. They want to run on the promise of repealing Obamacare "in the next election" until the sun burns out.

The government wants the general public to think of regular trash burning as the “burn pits”, but they were also open burning a lot of old chemical weapons and hazardous materials on airfields and overtaken military bases with almost no effort to protect the troops or locals from the vapors and particulates.
