It’s all going according to plan.
The GOP has control of the House (nominally), the Dems have the White House and Senate.
Going into election season, the GOP is going to hand what little control it has to the Dems without a fight. They’ll be happy to save speaker Johnson in exchange for “parity” in committee leadership and stopping problematic hearings and investigations. Come the election, the Dems will point to GOP ineptitude and win over the House... and all that spirit of working together will evaporate overnight.
Johnson isn’t good, but strategically, he’s the best of a bad set of choices.
