Do you suppose Roberts would vote as quickly to shut down the riots (NOT “demonstrations”) as he did to shut down the churches? Just whose interests are at stake in each of the two situations, and which does SCOTUS consider more important???

I worked in the late 80s and through the 90s at a non-law-enforcement federal agency in DC. Next to our office area was a locked room that seemed to be never used.

However, on a few occasions over the years, I saw that door open. The room contained a huge, walk-in vault, and I saw people bringing in or taking out huge loads of ammunition more than once.

We always wondered what was going on, but were afraid to ask. . . .

Sullivan was also the judge in the Keepseagle v. USDA lawsuit a companion case to the notoriously corrupt “Black Farmers” lawsuit. Sullivan certified a class of Indian farmers and eventually provided more than half a billion dollars to the complainants under a settlement.

But two carbon-copy cases, for Hispanic and female farmers, were denied certification by another judge, and that action was upheld on appeal.

Clearly, Sullivan is no stranger to using his courtroom for political/racial favoritism.

I worked in the Senate in the 1980s. There was no place where a “formal complaint” of this type could be filed. Every Senate office was basically a sovereign fiefdom, with its own rules and almost no interference from the Senate as a whole.

I personally knew a young woman who was hired as a receptionist and fired days later because the senator (a woman) did not like the way she sounded on the phone. The employee, who had moved to DC for the job, was devastated, and had absolutely no recourse -— could not even file a complaint.

It was not until 1995, when the GOP’s so-called Contract with America was implemented, that there was any process for complaints. Even then, the system that was set up (and still exists) does not allow real investigations, but forces the alleged victim into counseling and negotiation with the accused senator.

In the end, if the senator stonewalls and the alleged victim will not negotiate a (secret) settlement, there is no process for determining guilt and no way to punish any wrongdoing.

As usual, the powerful win and the powerless are victimized. And now it’s happening all over again.

It’s my understanding that a limit of 6 transfers between accounts is a federal government rule, and not up to the banking institution. If this is fact, its obviously a limit that may have made sense 20 years ago, but is ridiculous in today’s internet climate.

I have not done business with a bank for more than 30 years, but have used 2 federally chartered credit unions which have given me excellent service, including a home mortgage, and have NEVER charged me any fees for routine business (account maintenance, checks or transfers) in all that time.

Membership in my 2 credit unions is limited to certain government employees, but many good ones are available to people just because they live in certain counties or states. It’s definitely worth checking out!

As a West Virginia resident, let me assure you all that Manchin is in no way a “moderate.” He represents a state that voted for Trump in 2016 by a margin of 42 percent. He is playing the game all politicians play — How can we fool the stupid voters today? It may be that the Dems threatened him with a cut-off in funding (or a primary challenge) if he did not endorse Biden, but he will take no active part in Biden’s campaign, and will do all he can to make West Virginians forget he ever did this.

We had federal usury limits on credit cards and such throughout the 60s and 70s, and the economy prospered.

While I appreciate the need of the credit-challenged for money on occasion, charging these desperate people as much as 200% annual interest on car title and other loans does not help in the long run, but bleeds them for extended periods of time. Some never climb out of that credit trap.

With hard security like automobiles, charging such astronomical rates is unconscionable. I do not ordinarily support federal intervention in the marketplace, but this abuse of the poor is obscene and needs to be addressed.

Trump could spit on the sidewalk and the Democrats would try to impeach him for it.

I’m not sure if this applies to student loans, but I imagine it does: In general, federal law bars persons who default on U.S. government loans from receiving further financial assistance.

Student loans are one benefit specifically denied under the law to those who cause a loss to the government on direct or guaranteed loans for businesses, farms, houses and other purposes. So anyone who doesn’t repay student loans may not be able to rip off the government a second time.

Small consolation, but at least it will help make their lives harder — just as their deadbeat habits make things miserable for the rest of us, who pay their bills.

Federal law prohibits any radio or TV station from editing or refusing an ad from a federal candidate — if the station is also running ads from other candidates in the race.

This was upheld by a 1974 SCOTUS decision which specifically allowed Georgia Lt. Gov. candidate J.B. Stoner to say, “You can’t have law and order and n-——s, too,” in a TV commercial. Look it up!

In 1980, a third-party presidential candidate used the word “bullsh*t” in a national ad on the NBC radio network. Many stations aired a warning before the broadcast, advising listeners to turn off their radios for five minutes if they would be offended by a “barnyard epithet.”

This assclown has no authority to investigate a Federal matter, and it takes real chutzpah for a state AG to demand records from a Federal Agency. He is obviously getting ready to run for governor or U.S. senator and trying to raise his national image as a “fearless” investigator — but won’t touch the blatant misdeeds of NY Gov. Cuomo and other powerful Dems.

Politico needs to check its facts. Following the 1984 elections, Dem Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill refused to seat the state-certified GOP winner of a race (I think it was in Indiana), and instead seated the Democrat loser. The Dem served the full term and was defeated in the next election by the same Republican. I worked on Capitol Hill at the time and remember the basic facts, but can’t recall names — sorry about that, maybe someone with more time can dig out the details . . . .

The absolute best podcast is the overnight show by Gary McNamara and Eric Harley, available for free at redeyeradioshow.com. These guys have a whole new and fresh look at the world and make the most cogent, irrefutable conservative/libertarian arguments on every important issue. If they were on in Rush Limbaugh’s timespot, untold millions could be awakened and made effective advocates for our point of view. Anybody who considers himself on the right should listen to at least one podcast — you will be hooked forever!

Some brave attorney general needs to subpoena Al Gore for the “facts” in his books and other lies he has spread over the decades in favor of the climate hoax. If just one struck back using the same tactics, the others would be scared witless at the prospect of Climate Hoaxer #1 Gore, who has already admitted lying about ethanol, being called into some court to explain that and other lies he has fostered. I would not at all be surprised to see some of the lefty AGs filing friend of the court briefs to try and stop the right from doing the very same thing they are trying to do.

This same kind of jam occurs every time Obama travels. The Secret Service blocks roads, shuts down freeways, delays air travel. And it’s not reported at all, much less obsessed on like this story.
