Yesterday after complaining that one of the hoodlums called Freepers at Free Republic had copied my article without my permission, I was publicly chastised and escorted off by his excellency Jim Robinson, the psychotic founder of Free Republic himself. I was upset at first until I read other accounts online of Robinson’s war on Conservative Bloggers and how I am now in pretty good company with the likes of Michelle Malkin and Sean Hannity, who belonged to Free Republic at one time and were both banished by Mr Robinson. “Everyone I knew basically left because of so many childish, immature...

"The best and only safe road to honor, glory, and true dignity is justice." --George Washington (1779) In keeping with our publishing deadlines, every Tuesday morning I send notice of my topic for Thursday's column to our editorial team. This week, I sent notice that I was writing about "military award inflation," and particularly a story from reputable news sources about an Air Force chaplain, Lt. Col. Jon Trainer, who received a Bronze Star for a PowerPoint. I first read this story under an inflammatory National Review Online headline, "Air Force Chaplain Awarded Bronze Star for PowerPoint Teaching Proper Sensitivity...

Posted by a friend and I'm sharing with you anonymously with the mod's blessing due to my connection with the church and it will be obvious where the photo would have come from.

This morning at the Calvary Revival Church in Norfolk, Virginia, the church was a "Hoodie Service" in honor of Trevon Martin.

On 1st of February 2010, Marko Sihvonen came and started a hunger strike in front of the Finnish parliament building.

He is protesting against the corrupt government who is selling our ground waters away to offshore corporations, all of this behind our backs.

This might be little bit hard, but I have to say what I feel, and it is just my feelings towards some things here. Ishmael ha, maybe somewhere down the road something got kind of f---k up, but when did Islam came to be? Who was before them? What tribe did Mohamed came from? What was his full life all about? Etc, etc... I am getting freaking tired of this Islam BS and bumble jumbo, don't preach to me about religion whose only goal is to conquer and destroy!

"2. Breathe New Life Into the Takings Clause" "The Fifth Amendment's Takings Clause reads: "nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation." As presently interpreted by the Court, that clause enables owners to receive compensation when their entire estate is taken by a government agency and title transfers to the government; when their property is physically invaded by government order, either permanently or temporarily;(2) when regulation for other than health or safety reasons takes all or nearly all of the value of the property;(3) and when government attaches unreasonable or disproportionate permit conditions on use.(4)" "Although...

It's been a while since we had a thread along these lines.

I can tell from comments I am seeing in threads, on abuse reports, and in Freepmail that some people are unhappy with various policies and their implementations by the staff here.

Someone just posted some really, um, interesting anti-American piece with quite a bit of anti-Israel sentiment also thrown in.

The article came from the Guerilla News Network.

The troll was nuked and the article came down, but given the propensity of Tahrayzah Heinz Kerry to fund far-left umbrella groups and propagandists, I can't help but wonder.

Freeping as we knew it is done for. It's all over.

We just had a troll who posted a rather unique thread. But the devil was in the details. His last post, before being dispatched, informed us of our impending demise.

So I am just minding my business, when some of the others mention how someone is doing a flawless impression of a pigeon flying repeatedly into a pane of glass.

And probably a few others. And this is just in the last few hours! And that is just today!

Hello everyone. I hope your New Year is going well so far. It has been a while since we had a reminder about what the Smokey Backroom is all about, and we have been getting a sense that some don't really know what it is about. As you all know, we have guidelines against personal attacks and flamewars. We try to keep things within those guidelines, but face it, sometimes discussions get tempers up and things get heated. Sometimes, the cure (pulling comments, suspending, and banning) can be worse than the problem. Sometimes an alternative cure is better-- letting those...

Occasionally we have had to point this out to people on threads, but I don't think the word is getting around because it keeps happening.

Some Freepers like posting images on Free Republic, which is fine by me. Some are absolutely hilarious.

We aren't going to try to consolidate all the Saddam threads to one, for two reasons.1) It would be like trying to hold back a breaking dam using just fingers, and 2) Some stories just deserve the multiple thread explosion. This feels like one of them. That is all.

Hi everyone. One of the things I have noticed lately is that, at least from where I sit, trolling activity has increased greatly recently. Many relatively new accounts, or older accounts with previously little or no activity, suddenly coming on and posting negative comments about President Reagan, saying they are lifelong Republicans but no more, and a bunch of other things that could be legitimately held beliefs on their part but when taken in aggregate make it clear that there is quite a bit of trolling action going on.I found the following to be quite illuminating. Alexa.com is a website which...

Modest numbers of demonstrators, many wearing black clothing and some with bandannas across their faces, streamed through Miami streets this morning. No significant vandalism or other violence was reported as of 7:45 a.m. Some protesters converged on the Miami-Dade government center as week-long protests against a proposed hemispheric trade pact intensified. The demonstrators were expected to march east toward the Hotel Inter-Continental, site of the trade negotiations. They said a fence around the hotel, which they viewed as a symbol of exclusion, should be torn down. Police were determined to prevent that. Smaller groups of other protesters roamed through side...

Japanese scientists say they have discovered a new species of whale. Researchers came to the conclusion after after examining the skeletons of several specimens caught in the 1970s. Shiro Wada and researchers at the National Research Institute of Fisheries Science in Yokohama said the specimens resembled fin whales although they were smaller. But after examining their DNA, the shape of their skull and the baleen plates they use to filter plankton from the water they were convinced the specimens were a new species. The comparison "separated them from all known baleen whale species", Mr Wada said in a report published...

Protests are continuing in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, as the former Soviet republic awaits the final results of this month's disputed parliamentary elections. Georgian officials are expected to announce the results Thursday -- the deadline under Georgian law. The results have been held up because of legal challenges by the opposition. International monitors have said the election was a fraud. Opposition leaders have called on thousands of their supporters to rally in Tbilisi today when the results are announced. The Georgian capital has seen several days of rallies both for and against embattled Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze. Mikhail Saakashvili, chief...

AUSTIN -- Texas will be under the microscope this week in the fight over teaching evolution in public schools as the State Board of Education votes on adopting biology textbooks that have been at the center of the debate. The board meets Thursday and Friday and is set to consider proposed changes submitted by 11 publishers. The board's decisions -- which could determine which textbooks publishers offer to dozens of states -- will end a review process that has been marked by months of heated debate over the theory of evolution. Religious activists and proponents of alternative science urged publishers...
