This afternoon I happened to look out the back and saw something black and long in the middle of the yard. I just mowed yesterday so I knew the yard was free of sticks and such. Turns out it was a big black snake! He isn't a rattler, does not look loke a water moccasin or a black snake. What the heck kind of snake is he? He has the triangular head which means he is a bad one, but I can't place his breed. Anyway, photography being as dangerous as it is, he got wrecked up some which is...

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has handed out millions of dollars in scholarships, but some local community leaders say they could do even more if they would stop spending money on items that they consider questionable. Minority leaders say they're answering the challenge from the head of the Livestock Show and Rodeo. They've laid out the expenses they question, that it's time for Rodeo leaders to explain them. After looking at the ledger for 2005 through 2006 which the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo recently provided to state Senator Mario Gallegos and local minority leaders, they...

OBAMA HAS CHOSEN. ALL HAIL THE VICE MESSIAH. Obama has just sent me the Holy Text Message and I present to you: The Official Running Mate and Vice Messiah: Dick The Albino Bowler The legend began on a crisp October night in 1974, at a small 12-lane alley just outside of Roundlake, Illinois. League night was winding down and, as usual, some of the guys decided to stick around and roll a few games for money. About midway through the first game, the doors swung wide open and a pale figure with a bowling bag stood in the doorway. He...

SAN ANGELO, TX -- Hundreds of children taken from a polygamous compound in Texas could be put into foster homes, a potentially huge adjustment for children raised in the isolated religious sect, a state Child Protective Services spokeswoman said today. Child welfare officials took more than 400 children into custody last week on suspicion that they were being sexually and physically abused after police raided the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints compound. Hundreds of women from the sect voluntarily followed the children.

DALLAS, TX -- As final results from the Texas Democratic caucus remain unknown, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign wants signatures from the March 4 contest verified before party conventions are held around the state later this month. In a letter sent to the state Democratic Party late Friday, the Clinton campaign requests the March 29 count and state Senate district conventions be postponed until the eligibility of an estimated 1 million caucus-goers are double checked. The Clinton campaign wrote they received more than 2,000 complaints of violations following the historic Texas turnout, which was perhaps the nation's largest caucus ever....

SHAMELESS TECH SUPPORT VANITY Forgive the vanity, but I'm at wits end with this problem and y'all are the smartest group of folks I know. I'm sure I'll suffer a reasonable amount of abuse which is the lot of vanity posters but I'll bet somebody can tell me what the problem is. I've been running Mozilla Firebird for about two years now with no problems and no pop-ups. Yesterday it began bringing up a window when I access the internet asking me to "select user profile". Well, this is a one-person machine and there are no other users. Clicking "Don't...
