He got his hand on the Bible within the first few words of the oath. Best part of the inauguration was the verbal eviscerating of the previous administration. Bill Clinton was even laughing about some of the lines.
In spite of human history with many hellish periods, somehow humanity multiplied anyway. You can’t convince me that the relative paradise we’re living in now is preventing young people from having children. There is another fundamental reason, their priorities.

When I was transferred to Houston 18 years ago, I wanted to maintain the country lifestyle we had had in Carlyss LA, so I found a tiny little town called Needville an hour commute from the job and we built a house on acreage that was formerly farmland, thinking we were safe from sprawl. While not urbanized, our little town is now being overrun with new sub-divisions built on land that has become too valuable to lease to farmers, and is rapidly losing its small-town charm and friendliness. Suppose we were the vanguards of the invasion, but it’s still tough to see things change so quickly.
Before COVID, my employer offered flexible work options, such as 10-hour days with every other Friday off or one work-from-home day per week. Since then, we’ve shifted to a single policy of two WFH days per week. Despite this, some employees still complain about coming into the office. Those voicing complaints are not typically among our top performers.
