KEY POINTS
* Bentley Motors is pushing back its plans to transition to all-electric vehicles by a couple of years amid changes in market conditions and a delay in its first EV.
* CEO Adrian Hallmark said the carmaker remains committed to carbon neutrality and exclusively offering EVs, but it now plans to continue offering plug-in hybrids past 2030.
* Bentley is among a growing number of automakers to change, delay or cancel ambitious EV plans as global adoption grows slower than many expected.

And I was going to......................
Adrian Hallmark needs to be told to get off the big lie of climate change.
Wanna make EVs? Fine. Quit the virtue signaling garbage.
Oh no! A bloodbath........
With the price of EVs these days you’d think they all were Bentleys already...
Anyone remember the Chlorophyl fad way back when? Food, pharma, candy/gum, and other manufacturers suddenly started putting it into their products, claiming chlorophyl’s “miraculous” ability to eliminate odors. Green was everywhere and in everything. Until someone pointed out that sheep, goat, cows, etc all eat chlorophyl while they’re grazing, and they stink to high heaven.
Point is, every few years manufacturers lose their collective minds until the cold hard slap of reality wake them from their trance. We’re witnessing the beatdown now.
Given that a Bentley weighs about as much as an M1 Abrahms, I just laughed when they announced this nonsense.
On a semi related note..... I don’t think that a report has every been issued yet about the Bentley crash at the Niagara Falls border crossing, has it?

Lotus seems to be staying the course with its all-electric future, unfortunately. The cars look fantastic, but without the sound of a high-revving internal combustion engine, they’re not Lotuses. Just picked up a Corvette. Have driven the fast Tesla. The Tesla will pin you to your seat, and accelerates more quickly than the Stingray, but it’s an apples to oranges comparison. Without the roar of a V-8, the experience leaves me (almost) completely flat. Akin to a ‘skilled’ lover without soul.
Electric automobiles are about a hundred years too soon, maybe more than that.
Yep, I do remember that. Cars have advanced so quickly and so well, really, over the past 30 years it’s just amazing. The all electric thing seems good for some applications, but there’s not enough demand there to shift the industry. But I’d have to say that the one change in product design that was for the definite better over the years was the shift to radial belted vs. bias ply tires. We owned a tire shop back then, and everyone was blown away with the difference they made. Lotsa fun watching them drive away, knowing they were thinking “Wow!”
Funny you should mention tanks.
Believe it or not the Army was considering EV tanks.....at least until reality and common sense finally kicked in:
lol - and giant 18 wheelers. The demos would only haul loads like potato chips and stryofoam... on local runs.
It’s as if EV evangelism evaporates the part of the brain which handles math.
“the shift to radial belted vs. bias ply tires.”
I was one of those “blown away”. I’ll never forget my first drive on radials. Weren’t the first ones from Michlin?
Wasn’t the major obstacle to perfecting them to produce a flexible-enough sidewall?
Remember Goodyear’s “Wide Ovals”, pushed compete with the radials, but those Wide Ovals wore out really quickly, compared to the radials’ 50 or 60 thousand?
No one wants Environmental vehicles , LOL
EVs were the way to make personable transportation unaffordable for the masses, regardless of what fuel the vehicle runs on.
UPS is actually embracing EV trucks....even over the road semis......the government subsidy must be massive.
“Dang it.”
Correct. Bentley’s mistake. You don’t buy a Bentley for its cost of operation. The electric powertrain would give it fantastic, impressive acceleration. You don’t drive Bentleys very far because you have your Gulfstream for that.
The Leader was Michelin, and they still make arguably the best tires around. Dunlop and Pirelli were early to the game, too. The new kid on the block was Bridgestone, a great tire. It was really a kick to have people come by the shop the day after we installed a set of radials for them and see them genuinely giddy about their new tires. “What did you DO to my car?!!!”. Tons of fun. We tried a few bargain brands (Orban and Riken), with poor results, seeing alot of separated belts. Likely the result of underinflaction, but still an issue. I loved selling (as a 17 year old!) the top-flight radials, as I knew a.) the customer would go nuts over them, and b.) they were a great value. Again, tons of fun.
True that. Including getting much better mpg than before.
But that's a life lesson that the left is NEVER SATISFIED. Neither the car makers nor anybody else should think, "Okay. If I just do what they're demanding of me now, the left will leave me alone."
