  • The Most Expensive Warship Ever Built Might Already Be Close to Obsolete

    02/13/2016 9:55:57 AM PST · 34 of 53
    GeorgieCavendish to C19fan

NONE of these ships would be so expensive if they were not forced to be built by SHIP YARD BUBBAS (who by the way spend a good portion of their day drilling hole’s in female berthing to watch us change or sneaking into showers to catch one of us naked). Gotta love the Unions.

This article makes it sound like Aircraft Carriers are out in the ocean by themselves.... NOT: Carrier Strike Groups. There are subs, battleships, cruisers and Supply ships out there with them. Carriers protect the smaller ships, the smaller ships protect the carrier. Plus, CVNs are built to withstand a certain amount of Bombings as well as Nuclear War.

Teddy Roosevelt was wise on one front: Great Navy Fleets projecting power. Sailors going on port visits understand this. It is impressive to look out into a harbor from miles away and see a gigantic rusted warship sitting out in the bay. It’s a giant middle finger to bad guys and it says, “hey... our 1950s technology and 50 year old boats are still greater than anything you have. Respect us”.

The democrats want to do away with CVNs and that is what this is really about. They don’t understand them. One Indiana Democrat Congressman came on our ship during decommissioning because he couldn’t understand why it was so expensive to “removed Nuclear Reactors”. What a joke and what a Moron. CNN for months has been promoting the idea of getting rid of Aircraft Carriers. This is just one of the problems of professional politicians and a Congress that has few Veteran Members. It also conveys part of the growing divide between the warrior class and civilians.

I can see the advertising now:

Planet Pervert: Where you can work out... and watch naked women and girls as young as age 13 in the locker room.... without being judged. Because no one should feel bad about anything. Including being a fat, greasy, perv.

Personally, I loved the colorful language.... reminded me of my time in the Navy.

I am curious as to why there are no regular cars here... is it because mostly trucks go to this port or have recent events kept car drivers away?

I can’t imagine as a woman trying to drive this in any vehicle.... have females been told to stay away from Calais roads?

This is how liberals and tyrants work, especially in government. They never punish or convict their own when they do something wrong... but they sit and wait for someone else they hate to sneeze incorrectly and they magically pull out their black book of regulations, which they arbitrarily apply to whomever their enemy of the day is. This is how leftist encroach on the rights of the people. With the mask of legitimacy (even though administrative portions of the executive branch are suppose to EXECUTE laws, not write them), they validate their usurpations as merely enforcing the law... that they themselves wrote.

  • FLASHBACK: Donald J. Trump Interview 25+ Years Ago (Video)

    GeorgieCavendish to maggief

I am queasy about Trump exactly because of this video... Although unapologetic about the mistakes we make as a country internationally (particularly in defense), conversely he promotes anti-free market remedies (like tariffs) which left wing Republicans and Democrats put in place with the Smoot-Hawley Act in the 1930s.

He is advocating for “common sense”- through government intervention- in peoples lives. Instead of advocating for the restoration of Federalism and the 10th amendment (specifically the part about things being left to the people), a cure for many of the ills in our society- he pushes for the same sort of Executive Branch Administrative demagoguery that is indicative of people like Barry O and Huey Long.

I’m still not sure about this guy and the video doesn’t help :-S

A look back at Conservatives who passed this year. Interesting bit about Robert Conquest and his work uncovering the truth about the Soviet Purges.

R.I.P. Dr. Schramm. Your presence at Ashland is already missed.

    BETRAYER=FIRING SQUAD.

The military is not a place for stupid liberals to practice their liberal ideologies and join forces with the enemy, particularly when it gets other service members killed.

Lets change the term Benedict Arnold to “pulling a Bergdahl”

Great article by David French highlighting what many of us Service Members have returned home and have attested to. When anyone tries to explain that these places in the middle east aren't that bad, I love pointing out the terrible things we saw on port visits: the Thai and Filipino sex slaves, the practical slave labor of immigrant Indian people, rampant prostitution, and the sexual misconduct that female military personnel experience (and without recourse) in gulf countries.

I wished to share this with everyone.

Currently, I am in my student teaching experience for social studies and so many teachers ask me how it is that I can love American and freedom so much. My experiences in the Navy and the opportunity to see a world terrorized by Totalitarianism has only further instilled those beliefs about the greatness of America. When I read this letter, I had to share. Anyone who has seen the dangers of a world on fire from the evils of the left will come to appreciate this writing.

This man, John Gallagher from Canada, died fighting ISIS and represents all that is good and true about the Western World. So beautifully, the late Mr. Gallagher states why it is that we must fight ISIS.

"The general spread of the light of science has already laid open to every view the palpable truth, that the mass of mankind has not been born with saddles on their backs, nor a favored few booted and spurred, ready to ride them legitimately, by the grace of God." Thomas Jefferson, July 24 1826.

When I served in the Navy we had 3 words: Honor, Courage, and Commitment.

What is the Honor in writing a letter like this, conveying unsubstantiated information and widely acknowledged falsehoods? How much Courage exists in making snarky non sequitur comments? Where is the Commitment to quality journalistic and research practices which require truth seeking, and the ability to apply them to print?

    Benefits of being a teacher:
    Summer’s Off
Prep time (during school and on in-service days)
    7 Hour days (including lunch)
2 hour delays (still paid and don’t have to make up)
Bad Weather Cancellations (everyone else goes to work)
Christmas and New Years Off (~1.5 weeks)
    Thanksgiving(at least 2 days)
    various other holidays off
    Fall Break
    Spring Break
Opportunity for Teacher’s Aid (Students who grade your papers for you)
Automatic raises (for each additional year teaching)
    Inflation raises (negotiated by Unions)
Education raises (For a M.Ed [WAY EASIER than a Master’s in a subject content area)
Education Raises (for in-services with CEUs)
    Education Benefits (tuition Assistant)
    Great Healthcare Insurance
    403(b)s and pensions
Job Security (Tenure, which sticks even if you are terrible at your job).
Some schools do not even require professional dress!

I went from Active Duty Navy to working on my M.A. and teacher licensing program. After hearing many complaints, I started saying, “can’t be any worse than deployment” Of course one of these clowns replied to me that in fact, yes, teaching was harder than being in the military....

Teaching is a great job. They are mostly mad that they are now being held accountable for their jobs. And while, yes, there is nothing that a teacher can do if students come to school without being fed, made to shower, disciplined, having drugs and psychological problems... I can’t feel too sorry about it since the majority of these things came about because of the political actions of the TEACHERS UNIONS and their support of the Democrats!
