A few years back, I did electro-magnetic interference testing (EMI) for a renowned lighting manufacturer. We did this to comply with FCC regulations regarding fixture emitted “noise” that may corrupt FM and AM radio signals (and other media) coming into your home and perhaps corrupting something like a pacemaker signal.

The FCC regs were/are strict. The company I worked for set up quite the up-to-date lab with super cool test equipment.

The company was in bed with cheap Chinese made fixture power supplies, and often I was told to set aside my testing schedule and allow a group of Chinese engineers to take over my lab to do their own EMI testing.

Few things in my life have lit me up more than letting these parasites into my space. Adding to the insult was my assisting them interpreting the test results on my big $$$ frequency spectrum ananalyzer. Grrrrrr...

The group leader was a Chinese gal. My spidey sense told me this whole deal was nothing but espionage. She really set off my “no good” radar.

Heard later on she was banned from the building premises. Hmmmm...ya think?
