My sister was the director of a theater in our town. Despite being “podunk” here, she managed to score some big acts over the years, one of them Dave Mason.

My wife and I occasionally volunteered at the theater. One day my sis called needing a “runner” for Dave Mason and his band. A runner or “gofer” goes out and gets special food, drinks or whatever if needed. I fell over backwards with her request. Been a big fan since his Traffic days.

I had little to no interaction with Mason while on duty. He came off as well-grounded to me.

A special treat: about two hours before the show, he and his band ran a system check. I was sitting all alone in a 1200 seat theater 10 rows back from the stage when Mason came out and rehearsed “We Just Disagree” and “ All Along the Watchtower” the latter being my fav of his, and Mason’s version just rips it! I was his only audience during that system check.

Before he played Watchtower during the official show, he told a story about him and Jimi Hendrix knocking around one night. Mason encouraged Hendrix to do a cover of Watchtower, and the rest is history. BTW: Mason plays the 12-string acoustic on Hendrix’ studio track.

Despite my defense of herbicides here on this thread, I have wondered...

I attribute his condition to too many vaccines stacked one on top of another in a relatively short span.

Live in farm country here in Central Ohio. One thing I have noticed in the past few years are equipment wheel tracks in somewhat mature winter wheat crops that are close to maturing...say mid-June. The wheel track gauge to me indicates a sprayer has traveled through there.

Asking questions, I’ve learned that the wheat crops are dosed with glyphosate to hasten die-off (dessicating) in order to harvest the wheat “early” so that a follow-on crop of soybeans has enough time to mature and harvest by end of October.

In my youth, winter wheat got pulled about the third week of July. Very late June and maybe a wee into July now.

I’m not on board with that practice!

Agent Orange was a mix of 2-4D & 2-4 5T.
Problem was that some of the 2-4 5T was made wrong and dioxin was created by accident in it.
I sprayed pasture with it in the early 70’s as a kid, no issues when it was made correctly.

Herbicides when applied PER LABEL APPLICATION rates are very safe. That said, herbicide is expensive which tends to suppress over-application in agricultural use.

Pastures. For years the herbicide, Crossbow, was and is the schizz for that. A blend of triclopyr and 2-4,D. Per label, a user can put lactating milk cows back on the treated area the next day.

If there is any overuse of herbicides, I would say it comes from dumbass homeowners getting shit off the shelves at Home Depot the doing the “more is better” application rates.

That said, some of that overuse (if any) comes from the many blends of “whatever” on the the big box store shelves.

The landmark case regarding Roundup (glyphosate) it being made at the time by Monsanto never answered the questions I had at the time.

Was the affected groundskeeper in poor health for a long time prior to and during the Roundup use? A smoker? Diabetic? Genetic predisposition to cancers?

A “groundskeeper”. I guarand-damned-tee you he was exposed to FAR more selective broadleaf weed herbicides like 2-4D and dicamba in his course of work. Were those considered in the litigation?

I’d say high fructose corn syrup intake ramped up in the 90s and continued. The pancreas has to deal with controlling sugar levels. So increased intake of a sugar that humans don’t have a long genetic blueprint for metabolizing puts the pancreas on overdrive. Will Type II diabetes rates map to these cancer rates?

Agreed. Columbus mayor at the time, Coleman, was all too happy to take in the Somalis. Not telling you anything you don’t already know, but a ton of them got settled in the NE and East areas of the Columbus metro. In particular they landed in housing units on Waggoner Road.

To the east of Waggoner lies Licking County, Jersey Township with the school district (shall go unnamed) having to take in these Somalis.

20 years ago, an old-boy friend who was a township trustee told me the school district had to hire 12 interpreters to handle the foreign load. He was pretty down when telling me this.

I’m an old-school farm boy. That school district, which was a corn and bean growin’ area, has distinctly changed its aura in the past 20 years. Sad.

Also there is an active” soot” burn out cycle called regeneration or “regen”. Fuel is injected into the diesel particulate filter (DPF) and lit-off.

Temperatures can get very high. I know if two ag tractors that caught fire and were completely hosed due to chaff and debris built up around the DPF.
