I just KNEW things were going too well as I looked forward, FINALLY, to the end of the remodeling of my house. I'm on the home stretch now, just a few things left to finish. One of these is installing the new railing on my new side porch. The welder, a middle aged gentleman, came out Friday to bring back the railing he had modified for my porch. We met briefly within a few feet of each other outside next to my porch, no physical contact. He shook hands with my other contractor and that was that. Less than 15...

Failing the New York State teachers’ exam really paid off — especially for a Queens man who learned this month he’s getting a $2 million windfall over it.Roughly 5,200 black and Hispanic ex-Big Apple teachers and once-aspiring educators are expected to collect more than $1.8 billion in judgments after the city stopped fighting a nearly three-decade federal discrimination lawsuit that found a certification exam was biased.

To all my Jewish brethren, who are by now applying hand lotion to hands rubbed raw cleaning for Passover, I convey my sincerest wishes for a happy and kosher Passover!

Whether you're rooting for the Eagles or Chiefs in Super Bowl 57, one immutable fact everyone can agree on is this: Puppies are cute, and fun to watch. Thankfully for fans of both teams (or neither), Puppy Bowl 2023 will more than satisfy their cute quota on Super Bowl Sunday as more than 100 pups from across the United States bumble, stumble and tumble their way onto TV screens (and into hearts). The event, of course, is charitable in nature: Event organizers aim to continue the Puppy Bowl's streak of 100 percent adoption rates. That shouldn't be a problem as...

Wishing all Jewish FReepers a very joyous and fulfilling Chanukah. Don't overdose on latkes!

I just produced a PowerPoint Chanukah card. It came out very cute. Now I'd like to send it to all my friends. I'd like it to automatically play when they click on the attachment, and not need mouse clicks to activate all the animations I put in. How do I do that? Thanks in advance, PP maven FReepers, and a happy Chanukah.

Faced with the imminent expiration of my Kaspersky Internet Security for Mac software, I am advised not to renew it, as Kaspersky is a Russian company. I have used it for years and years, and have always been very happy with it. Do any computer-savvy FReepers have any suggestions for a top notch replacement for it? Thanks.

This flash twerk party on a New York City subway was off the rails.Straphangers struggled to hold onto their morals as a collection of voluptuous vixens dressed in skimpy black bikinis jumped, gyrated and jiggled during a makeshift pool party hosted inside an L train car.

I just watched "The Terminal List", which was excellent. I was puzzled by the very ending, however. I couldn't decide whether Reece was going to the African place on the map shown or was he just going to sail until he ran out of food, water, or the tumor killed him? Any insights?

I needed to make an appointment for a vision exam to get some new glasses. My ophthalmologist now refuses to see me because I have refused to take the clot shot. Another one similarly would not see me for the same reason. I told both of them that I reject THEM for insisting on a procedure which has been shown to have terrible side effects and which does not keep you from catching COVID. Witness the many "break-through" cases in the news. Finally found another one who will see me. Have any fellow FReepers experienced similar exclusions from doctors?

State Attorney General Letitia James suggested she’s a strong booster of New York’s controversial no-cash bail law and said legislators should be “resisting the urge to overreact to spikes in crime” — by tightening the law without credible data.James, the stop’s top law enforcement officer, was publicly mute this year during the bruising debate over whether to tighten the bail law — a tug-of-war involving Mayor Eric Adams, Gov. Kathy Hochul and leaders of the Democratic-run legislature.

William Barr is urging Republicans to put former President Donald Trump in the rearview mirror in 2024 in favor of the political party’s younger leaders, the former attorney general writes in a new book. In his upcoming 600-page book, “One Damn Thing After Another,” Barr says he thinks Trump could’ve beaten Joe Biden in 2020 if he had “just exercised a modicum of self-restraint, moderating even a little of his pettiness,” according to the Wall Street Journal. The conservative lawyer encouraged members of his party to consider “an impressive array of younger candidates” that he did not identify by name...

Has anyone else been experiencing a pet food shortage? I see the shelves at pet stores and pet supply stores have empty spaces, especially for kitten food. I used to be able to find Purina ProPlan kitten food with no problem, but lately I can only find a couple of flavors--of course, the ones my kitten is not particularly fond of. I also tried Chewy and Amazon, and their selection of PPP kitten food also consists of only a couple of flavors. Let's go Brandon!

It’s the nightmare that nearly all New Yorkers share — way scarier than eating Duane Reade sushi. As crime soars in NYC’s subway, the possibility of a push or fall never escapes a straphanger’s mind.Just ask the 23-year-old Australian tourist who had both legs amputated by a PATH train.
