I was listening to Tom Gresham's Gun Talk radio program today (Sunday, December 30, 2012) and heard a FANTASTIC call from "Mark" in Corpus Christie, TX whereby he presented what he called the "Second Amendment Pledge" This was so good that I took a moment to transcribe in verbatim his brief but poignant call for all of us to enjoy. While he didn't say, but I am sure that this was intended primarily for all the lawful gun owners of the United States, but it seems just as applicable to any elected politicians (I am sure that only a hand...

This week, by a unanimous voice vote, an NRA-backed amendment was added to the House Armed Services Committee's National Defense Authorization Act (H.R. 5136) that will ensure serviceable and once-fired small arms cartridge cases are available for commercial sale. The Ellsworth amendment, offered by U.S. Rep. Brad Ellsworth (D-Ind.), compels military bases to sell small arms ammunition and ammunition components intact – meaning not demilitarized for scrap -- as long as these items aren't "unserviceable or unsafe."Read the Rest

It can happen to anyone, and does all the time. It can happen to you: One day, if the world is falling apart around you, you are going to need to know how to protect yourself. And that’s why you might be thinking about obtaining a concealed weapons permit. read the Rest in the FreeTimes

We're thinking about getting an SUV to haul us and stuff to and from the beach. Since we're novices, any advice would be gretaly appreciated. The GMCs and Cadillac's look very attractive as does what I've been reading about the new Dodge Durango. As the new TV ad reminds us,what boomer doesn't want a Hemi?

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. John Stuart Mill (1806 - 1873)

In a face-to-face interview, Colonel Hackworth intimated that Lawrence Kudlow was a "chickenhawk" tonight, and Kudlow quickly shot back that he, of all people, should not engage in ad hominem attack.

I keep hearing the "talking heads" arguing that Senator Lott must be removed because he is in the line of succession to the presidency. I've checked the law and this is NOT true. As Chapter 1, Sec. 19 of the US Code indicates, after the Vice President, the sequence is: Speaker of the House of Representative, President pro tempore of the Senate, and then on to the cabinet, starting with the Secretary of State. The Senate Majority Leader is nowhere in the sequence. Ironically, though, when Strom Thrurmond was President pro tempore of the Senate, he WAS in the line...

Art [Bell] called me about a month ago to tell me that Premiere was using the occasion of his retirement to cancel Dreamland. This did not surprise me. When their parent company, Clear Channel, bought the Matt Drudge program, they were planning to cancel Dreamland. It was only the intervention of Art Bell and his partner Alan Corbeth that prevented this. The rest of the story.

FOX news is reporting that an airline passenger (a woman?) had a "semi-automatic" pistol on a flight into Philadelphia. Later in the report they said (she) has a .357 magnum.

Thank you for inviting me. It's a great honor to be here. I know that every speaker says that, as a matter of course — but, in this case, it couldn't be more true. There are few people I admire more than conservatives on campus. Really, they're some of the best and bravest people I know. The smartest, the toughest, the most spiritually resilient. Sometimes in life, I have simply marveled at the existence and grit of conservatives on campus. The rest of the piece.

Neither increases in government subsidies to corn-based ethanol fuel nor hikes in the price of petroleum can overcome what one Cornell agricultural scientist calls a fundamental input-yield problem: It takes more energy to make ethanol from grain than the combustion of ethanol produces. I just spoke with someone in the Virginia AG's office, and he confirmed that Virginia DOES now recognize S.C. CWPs. A letter went out to all local jurisdictions on or about 1/27/02. I took a brief list of where carry is prohibited for CWP's off of a link on www.packing.org. To wit (http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?000+cod+18.2-308): Where Unlawful to Carry §18.2-308: No person shall carry a concealed handgun onto the premises of any restaurant or club as defined in § 4.1-100 for which a license to sell and serve alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption has been granted by the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control ...
