In a face-to-face interview, Colonel Hackworth intimated that Lawrence Kudlow was a "chickenhawk" tonight, and Kudlow quickly shot back that he, of all people, should not engage in ad hominem attack.

Does anyone know what he might have been referring to?

I don't know why Hack made that attack. But at least he didn't throw the "junkie" label
on Kudlow (he went through a cocaine/drug phase, but did the re-hab thang).
Since the Gulf War, it seems to me that Hack is always predicting that the
US forces are going to be slaughtered.
As wrong as he's been, I respect him for voicing his opinion based on his
experiences in the military.
It doesn't hurt to have someone say "we might get in real trouble", even if they are wrong.

During his last tour in Vietnam as a Province Senior Advisor in the Delta, COL Hackworth went over to the dark side: Blackmarketing, prostitution, drugs, etc. The story is that the Army was ready to Court Martial him, but hesitated because of his overall war record and long list of valor awards (he really did earn them). When he retired and went to Australia, I think the Army decided that the best thing to do was to drop it. Mistake in my opinion.

There's a big difference between a chicken, a hawk, and a chickenhawk. I think the original poster was asking if there were rumors about Col. Hackworth's sexual tastes. Am I right, Dr. No? Is that what you were referring to? If not I apologize.
