You are quite right. What I meant was that I would have to find one who is willing to wait. And I know that chances of finding these guys are slim, although I'm told that they are out there. But it's okay, because I'm willing to wait.

You couldn't be more wrong. I take offense to just about everything you wrote to me. What I wrote was serious, because this is a serious topic. Just because I am capable of taking something serious, doesn't mean I'm dour. You want a humorous side, talk about something humorous. And as for you telling me that I'm irrational, unhappy, priggish, and stuck up, YOU DON'T KNOW ME. You know nothing about me, except for the fact that I know myself to be just as capable as a man. And the fact that I'm a virgin shows nothing about me except that I have morals that I'm willing to stand by. So keep your prejudiced opinion to yourself.

And men and women ARE equal. Each individual person is different, neither sex is better than the other. Women may have better social skills, language aptitude, writing ability, and are good at understanding people. But I know plenty of men who are good at them too. You, however, are not one of them. I also know plenty of women who are good at physical things, and scientific/mathmatical/analytical activity. There may be a "trend" having to do with what women and men are better at, but it's the individual person that counts. I repeat, neither sex is better than the other.

I agree with you Motherbear. I didn't care for his interpretation of virgins at all. I happen to be one, and I am NOT irrational, unhappy, priggish or stuck up. However, (and admitting this will probably result in many angry responses. So anyone reading this, please do not take it the wrong way.) I do consider myself a feminist in certain respects. (Remember, I said feminist, not feminazi) I don't believe in abortion, and I don't believe in sleeping around. But I'm a feminist in the respect that I think women are equal to men, and have a right to hold whatever job they want. I realize you were speaking of most hardcore feminist. I was just stating my opinion that all feminists aren't necessarily that way. (and I hate the reputation that has come from it) As for virgins, I've found them to be very rational, moral, generally happy and friendly people, who know what they want out of life.

I'm glad to hear your ex-wife was okay. My mother used to have to walk alone downtown in the city very late at night, and she always carried a S&W Lady Smith .38 Special 6-round revolver too. Thankfully she never needed to use it.

actually, in a study done by Gary Kleck, a professor from the School of Criminology, Florida State Univerity, he found that handguns are used over 2 million times per year for self-defense.

if anyone wants good information on anti-gun control, go to www.guntruths.com or www.keepandbeararms.com.

as for myself, i'm a 19 year old female, and fully intend to carry a weapon as soon as i'm old enough. my mother, my sister, and I have all taken classes on gun safety and usage. my dad insisted. and all of us were certainly willing to do so.

Hi all. I'm a 19 year old Catholic, Conservative Republican in PA. I'm currently a political science student, and I plan on going to law school. So I love this kind of site. I'm so glad to see that there are others in my age group on here. My favorite issue I guess would be anti-gun control. But I could go on for hours on just about anything.

I wasn't able to post a response until now, but I just wanted to say one last thing. Thank you, Dead Dog, I AM on your side. I don't think people should be sleeping around. People of either sex. However, I don't think we should be picking on women for all of the sudden wanting or having sex. Men have been doing it for years. Things change. The bottom line is, both sexes have sex. Both men and women have been hurt by the opposite sex. There are cruel types in both genders. And blaming women for all the wrongs in these situations is ridiculous.

Now I'd like to go back to my original point. Just because a woman is assertive, doesn't mean she sleeps around. That was the point of the article: that women have become more forward with men. Just because I have the guts to ask a guy out, doesn't mean I want sex at the end of the evening. There is nothing wrong with a woman being assertive.

I'm not condoning sleeping around for either sex. I think it's wrong either way. Sex is supposed to be between two people who love one another. But people seem to be picking on women here, and implying that men are completely blameless.

"Women get the diseases from the woman sitting next to them at the woman's liberation meeting through the intermediary of the guy they're both screwing."

Are you serious? First of all, in this senario, the women have still gotten the disease from having sex with a man. Second of all, both these women are sleeping with just one man. It's the man who's sleeping with more than one person.

"When people talk about double standards what they're telling me is that their behavior should be limited by the availability of partners."

That is not what I said or meant. I said that both men and women are out there having sex. So why are we just picking on the women?

KDD, I couldn't agree more. That's why I'm not giving out the milk. But most women don't seem to understand that. And a lot of men seem to take advantage of that. It's certainly not what they're taught. (or shown my various examples I have already talked about.) But that's my point, you can't just blame women for it. It's not all their fault. It's not one-sided. These women need a man to be having sex with. And again, no one complains when a man goes out and has sex.

And where do you think women are getting these diseases? From men. Men are not innocent here. And women dress that way because they know men look. Stop looking, and they'll stop dressing that way.

I won't deny that there is more sexual relationships going on today than 5O years ago. But who's fault is that? Granted, women aren't completely blameless. But it's not all our fault either. Men want sex. Women want to be wanted by men. That is why a lot of young women think it's necessary to sleep with a guy to keep him. What about porn? What sort of image does that put out to young men and women? Those women wouldn't be participating in porn if the men weren't eating it up. And what about rap music, calling women names, and talking about rape like it's ok. Those are just a few things that perpetuate and create this reputation.

And also, there's a bit of a double standard going on here. If a man sleeps around, it's perfectly normal. If a women sleeps around, then there's something wrong with her.

First of all, maybe if people didn't treat American young women as quail crap, then they wouldn't have that reputation. Second of all, how do you know that reputation has been rightfully earned? Have you polled all the women in the US? Like I said before, it's those women who do things like have promiscuous sex that give the rest of us bad names. And let's not forget the image put out there by the media. You never hear about the women who want the relationship, and don't sleep around. Also, you said AMERICAN women. Well, European women are a heck of a lot more promiscuous than American women.

"Men want little depth of involvement or anything requiring trust or intimacy because it's the nature and background of women has made it too God damned painful to become involved with them."

And as far as I've seen, it's the women who get hurt when they become involved with men, not the other way around. And I am not attacking men in any way, I'm just defending the women who don't deserve to be in the category you've so carelessly placed them in.
