Democrats are plotting a brazen $147B student-loan debt ‘October surprise’
New York Post ^ | August 14, 2024 | Michael Brickman

The Biden-Harris team has signaled that it’s gearing up for an “October Surprise” on student loan cancellation — although it might come even sooner, sneaking in before early voting starts.

Once again, they are trying to shift hundreds of billions of dollars in loans onto the 90% of Americans who don’t owe student debt, to gain favor with voters who do.

And this time they’ve added a brazen direct-marketing campaign to appeal to those indebted voters, just ahead of the presidential election.

Their new loan-forgiveness effort is particularly devious because it is designed with the administration’s previous court losses in mind.

The Department of Education has asked borrowers who may wish to opt out of the imminent forgiveness plan — for tax liability or other reasons — to notify them by Aug. 30.

That means the administration’s final plan — potentially canceling at least $147 billion in loans — could be issued as soon as the following day.

However, the department has kept that plan under wraps, making it difficult for borrowers to make an informed choice — and, crucially, making it harder for states to sue as they have previously.

The Biden-Harris team knows that its actions are illegal, and courts will likely rule against them.

So they may be planning to trigger loan cancellations the moment the department publishes its final rule, in a ruthless effort to avoid accountability or give taxpayers their day in court.

Rather than simply adapting to their prior failures by following the law, they are instead looking for better ways to prevent courts from stopping them.

Nancy Pelosi herself has said, “People think that the president of the United States has the power for debt forgiveness. He does not. He can postpone. He can delay. But he does not have that power."

Trying to help 10% of the people.
By screwing over 90% of the people.
And hoping that more than half the people are in favor of this.

Our system is really based on ignorance and the fact that voters don't understand what they are voting on.

This will lose them as many votes as it gains them. People will be pissed off.

It’s illegal. SCOTUS has already ruled on this.

What can they do now?:

Go in to the federal database, erase every college loan debt, erase the database, and wipe the servers, like with a cloth.

No records, no debt.

It will not gain them a single vote. People with college degrees who are still paying them off are already solidly voting Democrat.

It could lose them a bunch of working class votes. I'm sure a Latino plumber just loves the thought of paying off some white professional's student loans.

I received an email and a FB announcement that my local sdhool district will be giving away free breakfast AND lunch for the 24.25 school year.

I shot off a reply to the school board;

OK . . . . . Here's the deal; . The government is not our nanny nor mother.

. You have no right accepting ANYTHING from (MY TAX DOLLARS) the government and giving it away, especially when the resulting product is less than acceptable.

Did any of you actually VOTE for this ?

. The kid can't read but you feed him?
Scripture says that if a man doesn't work he shouldn't eat and all scripture is given by inspiration . . . and is profitable . . . for instruction . . . that the man of God might be throughly furnished unto good works.

. Do you think it is a good work to feed a child and not have them work to learn to read proficiently ?

. It's not the child, it's the teacher/curriculum . . . the government allowance unto laziness.

. The board had BETTER . . . . REALLY READ . . . . the monthly cafeteria report and reject it if it has one item called "food", and the cost has not decreased significantly.

. You're all on notice.

Are these loans through Dept of Education, Treasure or where? Congress needs to send the agency in charge of this if they allow it, since it has not been approved by congress, the total will be deducted from ant pensions due to the employees of that agency, or their budget.

Go ahead wait until tax time when they get those 1099 Forms from State and Federal Tax departments wanting taxes paid on that which is now considered income. There is no Free Ride at all.

All Student Loans were Federalized by Obama and are all originated through Citibank.

It just boggles the mind that these people think that no one is the wiser as to their motivation in this boondoggle.

Boggle - doggle....says it all for that administration or better still Frick and Frack! We know it’s all people behind the scenes - come out and show your faces - we dare you!!!!! I’m sure they’d all be very familiar faces!!

IIRC, the courts just rapped them on the knuckles for loan forgiveness shenanigans. What else are they promising now? Tax forgiveness on the income created by the forgiven loans?

For certain we can’t rely on the MSM to bring this topic up at the debates...if there are any.

Imagine the media outcry if trump had defied the SCOTUS. The press would have called him a dictator.

What’s the motivation to go vote for them after the loans are “forgiven?”
