NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Police have arrested two men in connection with the shooting of a Metro police officer along Interstate 40 on Thursday afternoon. Police spokesman Don Aaron said Sgt. Mark Chesnut, 44, was hit multiple times during a traffic stop at about 1:30 p.m. Aaron said Chesnut was entering information into his in-car computer when police believe the suspect, who had been pulled over in a Dodge Magnum with Georgia tags, walked up and opened fire near exit 196 in Belleview.

The Nashville Tea Party was held today at Legislative Plaza. We had a crowd, by two estimations, of around 600. While it was cool and misting rain, the support was warming. Some of the speakers today were: Robin Smith,Tennessee GOP Chairman, Dave Evans, who is running against Bart Gordon in the 6th Congressional district, Nathan Moore, former Chairman of the Davidson County Young Republicans, Ben Cunningham of Tennessee Tax Revolt, and Susan Lynn, State Representative.Also in attendance today were FReepers fullchroma,CrappieLuck,NewRomeTacitus, and a couple others. CHICAGO – Trying to squelch criticism from the state's largest newspaper, Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich allegedly tried to strong-arm the Chicago Tribune into firing editorial writers who were discussing his possible impeachment. The Tribune charges were overshadowed Tuesday by Blagojevich's arrest on allegations that he tried to sell President-elect Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat to the highest bidder. But federal prosecutors said he also sought to pressure the newspaper to dismiss some writers who had suggested the governor should be removed after a three-year investigation of alleged hiring fraud

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — In a tragic twist to a familiar story, a teenager who had sex with his married 30-year-old teacher was fatally shot outside the woman's home, and authorities have charged the woman's husband. "You see all this stuff with teachers involved with their students. It just comes up time after time on the national news," said Norman McLean, father of suspect Eric McLean. But this time, he said, someone "actually died over it."

A number of metro area people were not too happy Thursday evening after discovering their names and addresses printed in a local paper. The Tennessee Tribune published hundreds of names and addresses of people who did not vote in the August primary, the last election. Silas Allen, 65, said it came as a shock. He had no idea his name was printed in the weekly paper that focuses on issues in the African-American community. He wasn't too pleased.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Authorities shut down all eight lanes of Interstate 24/40 in downtown Nashville Monday afternoon after stopping a sport utility vehicle and finding firearms inside. Handguns, a sawed off shotgun, an AK-47 rifle and body armor were found in the vehicle after it was stopped for failing to signal a lane change. The SUV had been part of an on-going investigation believed to be involved in selling weapons at area housing units. The vehicle had been spotted earlier in the day at the J.C. Napier housing projects.

A cinnamon bun that bears a striking likeness to Mother Teresa has gone missing from the coffeehouse where it was displayed. The owner, Bob Bernstein, arrived to find an early Christmas morning break-in and the world-famous pastry gone. Bernstein said he believes that the culprit is someone angry over the shop displaying the Nun Bun, which has been preserved with shellac. A jar of money next to it was not stolen. "They went right for the bun," he said. "Unfortunately I think it's somebody who wanted to take it to destroy it." The Nun Bun gained worldwide attention in 1996...

GAINESVILLE, Georgia (AP) -- A 37-year-old woman was charged with child molestation after being accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy whom she married last week. The woman also is allegedly pregnant with the boy's child, though paternity hasn't yet been determined, his grandmother and guardian told The Associated Press on Monday.

Help !!!! My wife and I are taking my 15 year old daughter out of the public school system, and home school her. Our school system $ucks, and I'm sick of fearing for her safety every day. NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A 15 year-old boy has been charged in a robbery and shooting spree that left one man dead and two others wounded. Lavender Howse has been charged with criminal homicide, attempted criminal homicide, especially aggravated robbery, aggravated robbery, carjacking and aggravated assault, Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron said. He was arrested Monday morning.

My thought for the last week or so has been that the Clintons, with their power over the DNC has set this election up. They convinced the DNC to forgo this election, and set up '08 for Hillary. Focus on saving what they can of the House and Senate, and give the sitting war-time president his re-election. History proves that situation impossible to beat. Go into '06 gaining a bit of ground in the House/Senate, then comes a no incumbant election in '08 that Hillary ( after fufilling her promise to NY voters) should run strong. Strong enough to win....
