The Dems have a plan .. or maybe two

Posted on 09/24/2004 6:57:02 PM PDT by dfwddr

My thought for the last week or so has been that the Clintons, with their power over the DNC has set this election up. They convinced the DNC to forgo this election, and set up '08 for Hillary. Focus on saving what they can of the House and Senate, and give the sitting war-time president his re-election. History proves that situation impossible to beat. Go into '06 gaining a bit of ground in the House/Senate, then comes a no incumbant election in '08 that Hillary ( after fufilling her promise to NY voters) should run strong. Strong enough to win. Who else have the Dems got coming up that can run strong in '08.

I had convinced myself the Clintons have enough power to throw the election..... to us.

I had the privlige of spending a couple hours this afternoon, with a young, black, liberal, female, political scientist. We went back and forth on a few things, agreeing on a few, and disagreeing on several. We were, unfortunally, suppose to be discussing business.

She stated she was not a Kerry supporter, but WOULD NOT vote for GWB. When I asked her to abstain from voting this time around ( hey, at least take a vote out of his column..), she said that by the time election day rolled around, she would have a choice.

She concluded by saying that someone she knew, "somewhat high up" in the DNC, had told her of a plan in place. Sometime in October, but after the debates were over, Mr. Edwards is to become ill, or otherwise in despose. Hillery will be summonded, ( I believe "forced" was the word she used, thus getting her safely out of her promise to NY voters), to become veep ( which she accepts). This throws a lot of "swing" voters their way. Also, the "no incumbant" election puts a green Republican against someone "who has sat in the White House for three terms"

I was stunned, and still am. I can see them trying to pull this off. Am I crazy ??? This morning, I was predicting a Bush landslide, tonight, I'm sitting here wondering if I should send my kids to France......

Kerry in '04 does not bother me, Clinton does....

If Kerry in '04 doesn't bother you,,,the rest just doesn't matter, really. You should be very concerned about '04....it's too early to say anything about the Hildebeast just yet.

Democrat 'plans' have a way of ending up in a dusty folder in a filing cabinet somewhere, and they wing it, making it up as they go.

Dang Democrats can't fight a war, can't keep the peace, can't run a meeting without calling in the sergeant-at-arms, and they can't keep a promise once elected.

Nah! Nobody who knew of such a plan would dare reveal it. The high up person in the DNC was probably just proposing a fantasy solution to how to win the election. As in "I wish that....."

To answer your last question first - yes, you are crazy.

Kerry '04 precludes Clinton '08

Could you post some actual news next time instead of a vanity?

I seriously think that all this Hillary talk is nuts. She is possibly the most polarizing figure in the DIM party - people either love her or hate her...if you want the Republican base riled up and ready to go - just put her on the ballot across this country and you'll see the right turn out like you can't even imagine. I think your colleague was likely jerking your chain.

It would get him a lot of Dem voters. Some of the women would come back. Then Ter-Eza would poison Kerry in his sleep. Then Hildebeast would be the Presidential nominee. Ter-Eza would then get the VP node out of sympathy. So it would be Clinton-HeinzKerry 04.

The CST (see below) is hardly news, nor are speculations
on Eagleton/Torch/Carnahan moves.

Ballots are being printed (just ask Nader). It is too
late to change names, so we're essentially looking at
the Carnahan scenario.

The trouble with your gambit is Edwards->Clinton. The
problem with the DNC ticket for 2004 is Kerry. If
Edwards bought him nothing, Hillary will buy him less.

Kerry's cancer history gives him a credible 4F medical
deferment if he wants to take it, but my read of his
disconnected arrogance and sense of Ordained Destiny
to be JFK-II suggests he will not voluntarily step aside.

There's something to be said for the Dems trying to
narrow the loss, and avoid the collateral damage that
a GWB landslide would have on other candidates, but
even with that modest goal, does Hillary help?

Executive Summary:
The Clintons want the 2004 Democrat candidate for President to lose, but by just a little, because a win would upset Hillary's plans.

The Long Version
When Clinton left office in 2000, he retained control of the DNC. I haven't made an exhaustive study of ex-presidents, but this strikes me as very unusual (but then so is having a First Wife with political aspirations of her own).

Terry McAuliffe (DNC chair) is a Clinton guy, as is most of the Committee.

At this time last year, Bush looked unbeatable, and Hillary decided not to run. They then had a problem. If Hillary was to run in 2008, they needed to:
1. avoid having a Democratic incumbent to shove aside, and
2. retain control of the DNC.

  1. The incumbent problem is considerable. In a degenerate case, a Dem winner would go two terms, the VP would then take on Hillary as VP in 2012, and go on for two more, so Hillary couldn't run on her own until 2020 (assuming we even had credible elections after 16 years of modern Democrat rule).

  2. A Democrat win in 2004 would give the new President the ability to wrest control of the DNC from the Clintons. Both Kerry and Dean indicated a desire to do just that, and with the power of the Presidency, they could.

So, this all meant that the Clintons needed to manage the primaries to produce a Designated Loser. Did they sabotage other candidates to ensure that Kerry would emerge? Beats me. I'll let other political analysts argue that.

Once their DL did emerge, however, they needed to "help" the DL, and ensure a loss - a narrow loss, but a loss.

The Kerry campaign is infested with Clinton people, many more just this month. Are they there to help Kerry, or Clinton? Concerned Democrats need to wonder.

When Kerry became the presumptive candidate early this year, one of his first initiatives was to fire McAuliffe. He was slapped down and forced to flip-flop within days. Just in case anyone was wondering who's in charge here.

Tinfoil hatters will tell you that absent the SBVFT and Kerry's own record/ineptness, the Clintons were probably ready to leak whatever it took to sink Kerry's boat (think: FBI files found in Clinton White House). Extreme theorists will also tell you that Hillary is secretly funding the SBVFT, so rely on your own conspiracy insights here.

However, it now appears that Kerry is self-destructing without Clinton help. Unfortunately, the shambles is shaping up to be a landslide. Ideally, the Clintons want a messy narrow loss, with lots of recounts, lawsuits and a 2000-like after-taste of "stolen election".

So the recent appointments in the Kerry campaign are probably are really intended to help Kerry, not to win mind you, just to narrow the loss, and position for 2008.

Has Kerry ever realized any of this?
Has Teresa?

This is kooky... There is NO WAY ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET that the DNC, or the Klinton Looneys set this up... This election was UNBELIEVABLY important to them too... The president in this election WILL select 2, possibly 3 Supreme Court justices, and WILL be replacing AT LEAST ONE LIBERAL SOCIALIST (MAYBE 2)

See the new website dedicated to exposing the DNC and its corruption once and for all...

I think the scarier (and more likely) scenario is Hillary gets a Supreme Court appointment... give a dog a bone. Her ego is way to big to settle for being VP.

The best thing that could happen for Bush is Kerry and Edwards fold and Rodham Clinton becomes the nominee.

Osama is dead.

Hillary doesn't get to be President in 04..or ever.

President Bush gets re-elected.

We face tough times fighting back the evil of Islamofascism and trying to fend off the Chinese. Life is hard for four years. We are at war, but a courageous wartime President with the vision and will to lead takes the fight to the enemy. We have dark days, some hardship, and too much grief. We win.

Hillary is an old relic of a failed political philosophy, which doesn't know it's dead, but the Dems do run her in 08.

Her opponent is a true American hero. He asks Hillary what her war experience is, did she serve in Vietnam, and if she loathes the military. Hillary loses in a landslide.

The Republic is preserved. We go on to establish Pax Americana and prosperity for the American Millennium.

If history remembers Hillary at all, it is as a footnote. If she has a legacy it is as a synonym for baseness and corruption.

Good triumphs over evil.

God bless President George W. Bush.

God bless America.

She won't be running against Jeb Bush.

She and Carly Fiorina will be running against
Rice and Coulter.

On yeah, :-)
