Prior to Freddie Freeman's walk-off grand slam, MLB fans couldn't get over a certain fan's hat for Game 1 of the World Series. There was a fan wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat while sitting in the first row behind home plate. It's unclear if she was rooting for the New York Yankees or Los Angeles Dodgers. For all we know, she could've went to the game strictly to make a political statement before the presidential election.

Fernando Valenzuela, the impetus behind "Fernandomania" while winning National League Cy Young Award and Rookie of the Year honors in 1981 as the Los Angeles Dodgers captured the world championship, has died at the age of 63, the Dodgers announced Tuesday night. After pitching in the majors for 17 seasons, Valenzuela served as a Spanish-language broadcaster for the Dodgers since 2003. The team retired his No. 34 jersey in August 2023. LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Dodgers legend Fernando Valenzuela will not be part of the team's Spanish-language broadcasts during the playoffs, officials announced Wednesday. The Dodgers issued a statement on X, saying the 63-year-old will be stepping away from the broadcast booth for the remainder of the year to focus on his health. "He and his family truly appreciate the love and support of fans as he aims to return for the 2025 season, and they have asked for privacy at this time," read the statement.

PHOENIX - Nearly 100,000 people in Arizona may not be eligible to vote in the 2024 general election after an error was discovered, officials say. The Maricopa County Recorder's Office says they discovered that 97,000 voters were able to register to vote without providing documented proof of citizenship. "This flaw has existed since 2004. James Darren has died at the age of 88. The actor was best known for his role in the 1959 film Gidget, as well as his TV role decades later on T.J. Hooker. At the start of his career, Darren was considered to be a teen idol. According to a statement on his website, the actor died in his sleep at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Monday, Sept. 2.
