Well first of all able, us SOUTHERNERS are paying to rebuild it to, whether you enjoy NO or not. Us SOUTHERNERS didn't bitch and moan about paying to help rebuild in NYC. It is America and no matter where you live it is all of our country, and all of our duties to rebuild, wherever they decide to do it.

I believe you NORTHERNERS have a gay parade or two in your area also, doesn't mean you have to like it, just another great part of living in a wonderful country where you can do as you please under the freedoms granted to you. I personally have not had enough of the be drunk 24/7 attitude in the French Quarter, but maybe I am just younger than you and not done it as much as you have. But a weekend in the Big Easy is usually one I enjoy, drunk or sober.

I don't know where you are from baby, but down in N.O. there are several people who 1. Poor 2. Homeless 3. Have no vehicle of their own. How exactly, would you suggest these "ignorant" people evacuate? Canoe? Your callousness toward this disaster is sickening. It isnt like these people were out having hurricane parties. Good thing there are some good people out there who care for the less fortunate. Hope your job is safe or you may end up one of the very people you never had sympathy for. You are shameful.

Actually the Alice in Chains song youre referring to is about band member Jeff Cantrell's dad who they called the "Rooster" when he was in Vietnam. They were coming to snuff his Dad, not a rooster literally.

NO, this article was bound to provoke some defensive comments from both sides. Yes, maybe I took a cheap shot I guess, but I am not defensive about anything said, this arguement has gone on since the creation of the armed forces, and will never end.

Well I can say this, MY boots were on the ground IN Saudi Arabia on August 13, 2000. Didn't see any Army around there at that time. Lead force? Hmmm... I have questions about that but I cannot say I know if thats true or not. Maybe you were the lead force and thats why we sat waiting so long. Yeah they would have sent our squad in and done the job. That is the job of the Marines as stated earlier. We kick the door in, but we can't occupy every room of the house, we aren't as big as the Army.

No offense taken. We are all proud of our service and we should be. My best friend is former Ranger and we sit and argue all the time about who is the best. Noone ever wins this arguement, but our enemies are always the losers no matter what.

US Army was first on the ground and first DEPLOYED for ODS. Nobody was waiting on the Army for ANYTHING.

Deployed is one thing, being ready to fight is yet another.

Why? Because I was there, and I was sitting in that Sh*thole for 8 months... waiting... and yes.. waiting for the Army to get all their boys up there for the flanking movement. So see.. you answered my question.. we did sit there and wait on the Army to mobilize. We (Marines) stay mobilized.

Hmmm.. well in WWII in the PTO us Marines fought suicidal maniacal savages in caves for every inch of soil. In the ETO the Army fought a more civilized opponent, who knew when to surrender and when to fight to the death. But I will say, Iwo Jima, Wake Island to name a couple. But I don't think this post had anything to do with WWII did it Dogface? Just joking... no offense intended. Just a lil Marine to Army humor. We ARE on the same side here.

Being a former active duty Marine, I have nothing but respect for the Airborne and Rangers and SF of the Army, it is the REGULAR Army I have a problem with. In Somalia I had 2 Army dogs in one week come by our tent looking for their weapons, they had forgotten and left them hanging in the shitter. CLASSIC

This is just like it was in 1990, when we (Marines) sat around playing spades in the sandbox waiting for the Army to get their Sh*t together. You noticed the Somalis didn't rise up until the Marines pulled out, because of they're fear of the Marines. The Marines are, and always will be the neglected stepchildren of our armed forces. Older equipment, if not hand-me-downs of discarded Army and Navy gear. S.O.S. different day. Nevertheless, our Devil Dogs will exact revenge in Haditha very very soon. Semper Fi and nice post.

Well a man who fits the profile, wearing a heavy coat in summer, after more than 8 bombings in the past 2 weeks should not run from police at anytime in the near future. I doubt his name was Christopher Thompson or Robert Jones. Just a hunch.
