Specialist officers had been tailing the man shot at Stockwell Tube station from his home, says Sky News Crime Correspondent Martin Brunt.
Police believed the Asian man was responsible for an attempted attack on the nearby Oval Tube on Thursday and had set up surveillance on him.
Brunt said officers had followed the man from his home and that the initial plan was to arrest him.

The guy was wearing a coat in 75-degress weather. He deserves a Darwin Award.

Why do they keep saying "Asian" man?
Are they trying to tell us he wasn't of middle-eastern descent?

Well a man who fits the profile, wearing a heavy coat in summer, after more than 8 bombings in the past 2 weeks should not run from police at anytime in the near future. I doubt his name was Christopher Thompson or Robert Jones. Just a hunch.

Asian is a term we use to indicate people from the Indian sub continent, Pakistan included.

"Initial examinations though, said Brunt, did not discover any explosives on the suspect." So?
I guess we should have asked him before we killed him? *sarcasm*

Even if there was no bomb, there's a lot of speculation he may have been one of the bombers from yesterday, the threat of him having a bomb alone will be enough to vindicate the officers involved in bringing this threat down..

I do not care. He was acting suspiciously and the officers were cautious. Well done, lads.

Especially now when everyton has these bombings on thier minds,I'm thinking if a law officer tells someone to stop, maybe it's in their best interst to stop.

"Asia", in classical usage, refers to what we call Turkey and it's southeastern environs. British usage makes it include Iran, Pakistan, India. What Americans think of as "Asian" is more properly called "Oriental", e.g. China.

I loved the last article on that Sky News page! They claim that tourism will not suffer, that tourists will display the same defiant attitude toward the terrorism. In their dreams! They need to get a real handle on this or their tourist industry is dead. If one murder can kill the tourism in Aruba, think what multiple terrorist attacks on London tubes can do.

Are they trying to tell us he wasn't of middle-eastern descent? Pakistan and India are considered Asian by many.
