"You would most certainly believe that this had happened by Nazis, Soviets in their Gulags or some mad regime, Pol Pot and others, that had no concern for human beings." -- Dick Durbin, on the alleged mistreatment of prisoners at Guantanamo. Laura's Quote of the Day She is exposing Durbin big-time. "By the way, we're like Pol Pot." Callers are ranting too. She announced that her listener's are flooding Durbin's office, and they are being hung up on.

AMERICAN BORDERS WIDE OPEN Mr. Speaker, there is no war on drugs or terrorism in America. There is a war on kids. There are more prisons, more police, more Federal agents, more drugs than ever. It is unbelievable. The reason is very simple. Our borders are wide open. Wide open, ladies and gentlemen. Heroin and cocaine coming in by the ton, and a nuclear warhead can literally be smuggled across the border. Beam me up. A nation that does not secure their borders is a nation without security. Today we can pass the Traficant amendment that does not mandate but...

12:25 pm CDT April 14, 2005 UPDATED: 12:43 pm WASHINGTON -- Federal authorities say a dragnet code-named "Operation Falcon" has resulted in the largest number of arrests of its kind. This might well be the final hump day of a very rough moment in political history. I don't care how important you are [goes double for the big shot lurkers around here]: take a 10 minute vacation from your problems, doctor's orders [kind of], and drift off in shock and/or laughter for a bit. "AP WRITES NEGATIVE BOLTON CONFIRMATION STORY BEFORE IT EVEN HAPPENS!" On the confirmation hearing for Bush UN Ambassador nominee John Bolton, the Associated Press decided why wait for the actual questioning to take place when their reporter could just write it ahead of time? Bolton is being opposed ... [snip]

[Dodd Vs. DeLay] Like Rush Limbaugh says, if there's a pile of excrement anywhere near them, the left will step in it. Recently, it was Dodd's turn. If someone said this somewhere already, the South Boston Phoenix apologises in advance and will credit the initial thinker. But this should not be passed over. Congressman Tom DeLay has been under heavy attack by the left, ever since he spoke out about holding judges politically accountable for the brutal killing of an innocent woman, Terri Schindler / Schiavo by the judiciary. The South Boston Phoenix has decided to swoop down on one...

Neal Boortz, unable to face New Media scrutiny of his pro-death stance, has refused to accept Terri Schindler [Schiavo] calls. Some callers are attempting deception to get on about it, in which case he cuts them off. Boortz claims to be 'bored' with the matter, when in truth, he admitted last week that radio stations are being pressured to take him off the air, due to his inability to face facts that do not go along with his claims. Even prior to this, it appears that Terri callers were heavilly screened to ensure no one would mention gagged witnesses or...

Being one of the FReepers completely outraged by this matter, I think I speak for many of us, although not all of us. We are still furious at EVERYONE in government, period! And some in talk radio are on the verge of ticking us off, too. Regarding the Bush Family: Sometimes, people believe what they subconsciously want to believe. I've [reluctantly] concluded that neither in the Bush family is going to stick their necks out any further on this. They broke a lance on the shield of death and moved on. They were, for a brief time, part of the...

It was reported on the Sean Hannity Show [Good Friday] that Governor Jeb Bush did, in fact, send police to rescue Terry, but the courts cut off the rescue effort, due to legal maneuvering by Greer. If so, the police authorities in Florida may have been ordered to not listen to the governor when it comes to rescuing Terri. Has Governor Bush's power been hijacked in this case? Has Governor Bush, in fact, done all he possibly can?

The Pope can do just about whatever he wants. He can, for example, annul the Schiavo wedding. Then the legal credibility that Michael's been clinging to is gone. Regardless of recent events that fly past us, it's good to stop and think about history every day. One moment in history is the Whiskey Rebellion, something we've been able to rise above in today's America. Back during 9-11-01, I was very proud of our nation's restraint from harming innocent muslims. Today, I also note that same, civilized restraint regarding Terri Schiavo. America, I salute you! Here is a moment in our nation's barbarous past:

My mother felt compelled, a calling, to read about Palm Sunday in the Bible this morning. She found something that applies directly to today: They wanted to KILL A MAN WHO ROSE FROM THE DEAD right around Palm Sunday! What day is this? Palm Sunday! The desire to kill Lazarus is here: John 12 [9] Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead. [10] But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also...

[most statements in quotes by another FReeper, unless name specified] I agree that opinions can fly everywhere on this, that intelligent people can feel quite justified on either side of this issue. It's amazingly complicated. It's so easy to get tripped up on this that perhaps it would be best people not judge each other too harshly, even though so much can be revealed about a person from his/her conclusions. We are being tricked into baring our souls, here. I err toward life. But that's just me. Death is kind of permanent. But I also found someone who thinks the...

To believe Michael Schiavo, you must believe that all the following is part of a vast, elaborate conspiracy. Those who tend to treasure life also tend to treasure freedom. That's a conspiracy I would like to join. == "... despite numerous reports by nurses and others that she is a vital and responsive young woman of 41 who smiles at and recognizes her family..."http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=42991 == Husband did not administer CPR.... http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=42991 == Death Troll senators using Terri as a bargaining chip! http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1365320/posts?page=1 Terri to be Cremated on Husband's Orders "..they'd like the authorities to examine the circumstances of the...

[Eyes watering] And one morning, I just ran away. No 'just', Clarice. What set you off? You started at what time? Early, still dark. Then something woke you, didn't it? Was it a dream? What was it? I heard a strange noise. What was it? It was ... screaming. Some kind of screaming, like a child's voice. What did you do? I went downstairs, outside. I crept up into the barn. I was so scared to look inside, but I had to. And what did you see, Clarice? What did you see? Lambs. The lambs were screaming. They were slaughtering...

I recently checked out a book at the library, "The Strange Death of Vince Foster". It's been too long since I read it last. I told the librarian, "Wow! No one checked this out for five years?" The librarian looked at the stamp marks and nodded. I said, "I don't want this book lost. If you ever have a clearance sale, is there any way of putting me on a list to buy it?" [Not only would it save the book, I'd get an incredible bargain.] He told me there wasn't any such list, but then he explained the book...

Some of the talk radio hosts are ill, a bit green around the gills when it comes to all the attention given to Martha Stewart. I find that pretty funny. Yes, important news is going on all around us. But they fail to see something significant. Many pundits placed their bets that the people would hate her. They thought the American people hate the rich. It would be a knee-jerk hatred, they thought. This is a nation plagued by class warfare, after all. Well guess what? Martha Stewart is putting a human face on the rich, even rich people who...

Boortz is upset with the idea of pharmacists having a conscience about whether an unborn child should be murdered or not. He took a few calls on it, which is very unusual. Normally, only he is allowed to snipe his views that abortion is ok. I only heard the last call. The idiot compared abortion with what kind of drinks a bartender can serve. Since the caller agreed with him, Boortz seemed to like the call. I like a lot of things about Boortz, but I just have to vent on this today. He has his show. We have this...
