As Republicans and conservatives activists, we know that Mr. Schwarzenegger has refused to sign a no tax hike pledge, refused to take a position on California's Family Leave Act (a major job-killer), supports homosexual domestic partners (opposed by 61% of Californians), supports gay adoption, supports abortion, has said that Proposition 187 is history and that he doesn't mind illegal aliens staying here, and in an unbelievably inept statement, said he will ask the Democrat Legislature to repeal the law giving drivers licenses to illegal aliens (as if the Democrats John Burton and...

Arnold Schwarzenegger is displaying a distinctly non-tough guy approach to confronting his fellow candidates in the recall election. Mr. Schwarzenegger is planning to avoid this afternoon's televised recall debate (4-6 p.m.) and says he will participate in only one of the several other debates that are being scheduled for the weeks to come. The actor's campaign announced that he will be part of the Sept. 17 debate sponsored by the California Broadcasters Association, for which the candidates will get the questions in advance. That will allow candidates to prepare responses, making it easier to avoid gaffes from unexpected questions. That...

<p>Not really. Nor do we think Republicans Tom McClintock and Peter Ueberroth should get out of the race. At least not yet.</p> <p>Well, maybe Mr. Ueberroth should. His blandness and lack of energy will not do.</p> <p>The Democrats already have their Gray candidate. What's more, Mr. Ueberroth doesn't seem to be much more specific than Arnold Schwarzenegger, the frontrunner among Republicans currently in the race. But, then again, Mr. Ueberroth's nonpartisan pitch overrides his token Republicanism. For example, he's the only Republican in the race to oppose Proposition 187, the 1994 initiative barring state benefits to illegal aliens. Does this country-club Republican think he'll get Latino voters away from Democratic Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante? Indeed, in this crazy election, Mr. Ueberroth could end up with more Democrats and independent voters than Republicans.</p>

According to Lifesite, a Nov. 18, 2002 Associated Press article reported that Schwarzenegger describes himself as "very liberal" on social issues and that "He favors legalized abortion…and gay adoption". England's May 30 Guardian newspaper also quotes commentator Bill Bradley stating, "He's pro-choice, pro-gay rights… " IS THIS REALLY AN ISSUE THAT FREEPERS CAN SWEEP UNDER THE RUG? SHOULDN'T WE DEBATE IT - UNLIKE ABOTION IT'S SOMETHING THAT STATE POLITICIANS CAN REALLY HAVE AN EFFECT OVER. SHOULD GAYS BE ALLOWED TO ADOPT YOUNG BOYS? IF YOU SAY NO, CAN YOU STILL SUPPORT ARNOLD?
