White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders sat down with Fox News' Chris Wallace on Sunday to discuss the government shutdown and the status of negotiation talks. During the interview, Wallace blatantly asked Sanders how she knows terrorists are entering the United States through our southern border. "Let's talk about the wall, because there is no question that there has been a big spike in the number of family units coming across the border. The president talks about terrorists potentially coming across the border and here is Secretary Homeland Security Nielsen. Take a look," Wallace said, going to a...

President Trump is heading to Camp David where talks will take place with senior White House staff on border security as the partial government shutdown moves into its third week. The deadlock over border security funding appears to have no end in sight, even as the Trump administration claims it is making concessions to Democrats to lock in Trump's demand for $5.6 billion in funding for a border wall. Meanwhile Democrats, not willing to give more than $1.3 billion in annual border funding, blame Trump for the shutdown. In the House, where they have a new majority, they passed a...

As the government shutdown rolls into its third week, ask yourself one question: Do you miss it? Perhaps a better question is, “Have you noticed?” Outside of the news coverage of it, or if you’re one of the more than 300,000 non-essential government employees on a delayed-pay vacation, odds are you haven’t. But Democrats are hoping you do, and are about to partner with their friends in the media to try everything they can in an attempt to make that happen. Expect to see a parade of worst-case-scenarios trotted out in profile packages on the nightly news and Capitol Hill...

Americans are split on their feelings toward building a wall along the U.S.–Mexico border, according to a new Hill-HarrisX survey. Thirty-four percent said a border wall was "the best path for making America safer at its borders," while 31 percent said it was "totally unnecessary and not worth the expense." Thirty-five percent of respondents said they believed that Americans need border security, but there are "better options" for securing the border. The survey comes as the partial government shutdown enters its 13th day. The shutdown began Dec. 22 over an impasse between lawmakers and the White House over President Trump's...

The White House on Friday released the border briefing President Trump tried to get Democratic leaders to see during a meeting earlier this week, saying the public should see the information behind the president’s case for why he wants a border wall. The briefing, which was to be given by Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, details increases in drug seizures, arrests of criminals and the surge of illegal immigrant children and families who the administration says are overwhelming agents. But attendees said Democrats’ top leaders interrupted Ms. Nielsen and wouldn’t let her give the briefing. “Some of those present did...

As I mentioned in an earlier post today, I emailed President Trump to let him know that I expected him to stand steadfast in his commitment to the wall on the southern border. I described to him the low quality of people coming over that border, which I experienced from my position of educator in the NYC public school system. And I mean LOW. I reiterated my desire for the wall, in conclusion. I guess his aides are working overtime to read all emails and letters addressed to him, as I received a boilerplate reply only a couple hours later:...

The media are trying to convince Trump that if he abandons the wall, he'll be a statesman, so that as soon as he folds, they can start making fun of him as an untrustworthy liar. Everyone knows that we can never have a secure border without an impermeable barrier -- something like a wall -- across all of it. The Democrats know it, the voters know it, and the millions of illegals hurtling toward our border like cannonballs know it. The Democrats' latest idea is to call a wall "immoral, ineffective and expensive." If they think a wall is...

Speaker-designate Nancy Pelosi told NBC's "Today" show in an interview set to air Thursday that she will not provide President Donald Trump with the border wall funding he has demanded and shut down the government over. Asked by NBC's Savannah Guthrie if she was willing to give up any money specifically for the border wall, Pelosi said "no." "We can go through the back and forth," Pelosi said in a clip that aired on MSNBC on Wednesday. "No. How many more times can we say no? Nothing for the wall."

In 2006, Congress passed the Secure Fence Act, which mandated the construction of multilayer pedestrian fencing along about 600 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border. It passed with big, bipartisan majorities: 283 votes in the House and 80 in the Senate. Some top Democrats who are still in the Senate today supported the fence: Charles Schumer, Dianne Feinstein, Ron Wyden, Debbie Stabenow and Sherrod Brown. Just the next year, Congress made clear it didn't really mean what it said. The new law was amended to make fence building optional. In 2013, Congress got back into the fence game. The "Gang of...

In the still of the last night of 2018, the silence of California Dems chilled the air and airwaves. Border wall opponent Sen. Kamala Harris tweeted three times between Christmas and New Year's Eve bemoaning the plight of illegal immigrants and their children. But not a peep was heard from Harris about the brutal shooting death of Newman, California, Police Department Cpl. Ronil Singh at the hands of a Mexican gang member illegally in the country and protected by the very sanctuary policies Harris champions. Border wall opponent Rep. Nancy Pelosi decried the deaths of two illegal immigrant children on...

@realDonaldTrump 4h4 hours ago President and Mrs. Obama built/has a ten foot Wall around their D.C. mansion/compound. I agree, totally necessary for their safety and security. The U.S. needs the same thing, slightly larger version!

Following the law is for the little people, and enforcing secure borders is only for elites. That seems to be the conclusion after the family of John Kerry rejected rules about land access in France, while demanding that migrants and hikers be kept away from their multi-million dollar property. Kerry, the former liberal senator, presidential candidate, and secretary of state, spends a significant amount of time at his family’s ancestral home in Saint-Briac-sur-Mer, a beach escape and resort playground for the elite. It’s a lifestyle that most people in America and indeed the world can’t afford, and Kerry’s family seems...

The liberal media’s latest go-to tactic is to claim that President Trump said something without proof or evidence when a statement is generally known to accurate. In the most recent case, Sunday’s edition of ABC’s Good Morning America denied evidence that the Democratic Party encourages illegal immigration resulting in children being put in dangerous situations, even deadly ones. That morning, ABC was up in arms because Trump sent out a tweet arguing: “Any deaths of children or others at the Border are strictly the fault of the Democrats and their pathetic immigration policies that allow people to make the long...

As we enter the second week of a partial government shutdown over Democrats’ refusal to give POTUS Donald Trump a paltry $5 billion for border security measures including the construction of a wall, the party of the donkey continues to claim they support it. On Dec. 19, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said on the chamber floor Democrats have consistently supported “smart border security.” But is that true? Hardly. In fact, their voting record shows just the opposite.

WASHINGTON -- President Donald Trump found a strong political issue in a brutal and needless crime on Thursday when he tweeted about the murder of a central California police officer at the hands of a man believed to be an illegal immigrant. This awful crime is likely to upend the debate surrounding a government shutdown that began because Trump rejected a compromise budget -- which the White House had signaled he would sign -- that did not include some $5 billion for border wall funding. For their part, Democrats don't want to give him that victory. That could change. On...

There is a wall deal to be done. If Democrats actually loved America and cared about the safety of our children, it could get done. But it's clear they don't. A deal is there for the taking. Before there was President Donald Trump, there was deal-maker extraordinaire Trump. That Trump wrote "The Art of the Deal." That Trump loves to negotiate. That Trump understands how to get a deal done. That Trump understands that both sides need to win something. I've got that deal. But first, a few thoughts. As I write this, the government has been shut down...

People are having fun lampooning Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's selective exploitation of Scripture to support the Democrats' advocacy of open borders, but let's not allow this mirth to distract us from larger questions. The incoming congresswoman tweeted: "Joy to the World! Merry Christmas everyone -- here's to a holiday filled with happiness, family, and love for all people. (Including refugee babies in mangers + their parents.)" Let's put aside that Ocasio-Cortez is conflating the Nativity story described in Luke's Gospel, in which Mary and Joseph went to Bethlehem to register for the Roman census, with Matthew's description of the couple's fleeing to...

President Trump on Friday threatened to "close the Southern Border entirely" if Democrats do not agree to provide money to "finish" building a wall on the Mexican border. Trump made the threat in a tweet on the seventh day of a partial government shutdown that entered its seventh day on Friday with no end in sight. The shutdown began on Saturday after Democrats rejected demands from Trump that $5 billion be included for the wall in a measure to keep the government open. "We will be forced to close the Southern Border entirely if the Obstructionist Democrats do not give...

President Trump threatened to shut down the entire southern border with Mexico if his demands for more funding to build a wall aren’t met. Trump tweeted Friday that if “Obstructionist Democrats” don’t give him the $5 billion he is asking for to build his proposed border wall he will “close the Southern Border entirely.” “We will be forced to close the Southern Border entirely if the Obstructionist Democrats do not give us the money to finish the Wall & also change the ridiculous immigration laws that our Country is saddled with,” the president tweeted. “Hard to believe there was a...
