New research shows that all blue-eyed people share a common ancestor. This person lived more than 6,000 years ago and carried a genetic mutation that has now spread across the world. The exact cause remains to be determined but scientists do know that eye color began to change long before recorded history began. The following is a transcript of the video. All blue-eyed people have one ancestor in common, born around 6,000-10,000 years ago. Blue eyes are caused by a gene mutation. For years, researchers had searched for it on the OCA2 gene. The OCA2 gene determines how much brown...

Crayola has the blues — five, to be exact. The iconic crayon maker left it to fans to come up with a name for a new blue crayon replacing the recently retired color dandelion. After receiving nearly 90,000 submissions, Crayola narrowed it down to five names for the crayon based on a pigment discovered in 2009.

Using Census data, we've figured out that half of the United States population is clustered in just the 146 biggest counties out of over 3000. Here's the map, with said counties shaded in. Below the map is the list of all the counties, so you can see if you live in one of them.

For some Parkinson's patients, its been proven that RED light can trigger spasms or dyskinesia, while the BLUE spectrum tends to relieve those episodes. That is why Hillary wore the medical COBALT BLUE sunglasses on 9/11, and she and all her entourage were also decked out in BLUE that day. Its a shame and tragedy for millions of Parkinson's sufferers worldwide that Hillary's sycophants at YouTube (a division of Google) would DELETE dramatic clinical evidence of helpful Parkinson's information from the internet regarding BLUE sunglasses! All across the web including here at FR, there have been links to two popular...
  • Finding Zeiss Z1 blue lenses to treat photosensitive epilepsy

    09/11/2016 1:30:23 PM PDT · by COUNTrecount · 3 replies
From article. I found a study which shows that Carl Zeiss brand z1 blue lenses are highly effective in treating photosensitive epilepsy. The study is at: http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/full/10.1111/j.1528-1167.2006.00463.x?prevSearch=allfield%3A%28z1%29. These lenses are available in Europe, but I haven't been able to find them in the US or on the internet. I emailed Zeiss customer service about this, but I got no response. Does anyone know where I can find these lenses. I suffer from photosensitivity (as well as temporal lobe epilepsy). I use polarized glasses, and these help some, but I'd really love to try these lenses.

In honor of United Nations Day and the 70th anniversary of the UN's founding, more than 200 iconic monuments and buildings around the world will be lit up in the color “UN blue,” the controversial global organization announced this week. Among the famous sites set to turn blue on October 24 to honor the UN are Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, the Empire State Building in New York, the Great Pyramids at Giza in Egypt, Sydney's Opera House, Westminster Hall in the United Kingdom, the Great Wall of China, and hundreds of other globally recognized landmarks across more...

Amnesty International is accusing UN peacekeepers of indiscriminately killing a 16-year-old boy and his father and raping a 12-year-old girl in separate incidents in Central African Republic, the latest in a series of allegations against peacekeepers there. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is “personally dismayed and disappointed,” his spokesman said Tuesday. “We would like to emphasize once more that no misconduct of this nature will be tolerated,” Stephane Dujarric told reporters. Amnesty International said the two incidents on Aug. 2 and 3 occurred as the peacekeepers from Rwanda and Cameroon were carrying out an operation in the capital, Bangui. UN peacekeepers...

The moon was full on July 2, and it’ll be full again on July 31. The second of two full moons in a calendar month is often called a Blue Moon. _________________________ The next Blue Moon is July 31, 2015. In recent decades, many people have begun using the name Blue Moon to describe the second full moon of a calendar month. There was a full moon on July 2, 2015. There’s another full moon on July 31. So the July 31 full moon will be called a Blue Moon, according to this definition. The time between one full moon...

Geneticists at the University of Vermont have revealed links between eye color and alcohol dependency, suggesting it occurs more frequently among people with blue eyes and less frequently among those with dark brown eyes. The study, which offers another piece of evidence that alcohol dependency has a genetic component, involved a sample of 1,263 individual genetic profiles. They were pulled from a database that only contains genetic profiles of people diagnosed with at least one psychiatric illness, which includes an addiction to, or dependence on, drugs or alcohol. For this study, the geneticists filtered the database for patients with alcohol...

THE new Congress that starts work this week is the latest reminder of America’s stark political divisions: The parties in Washington are more polarized than they have been in decades, the partisanship gap between rural Republicans and urban Democrats has grown, and the battle for suburban voters keeps intensifying. Much less is said, however, about the equally significant economic division between conservative “red states” and liberal “blue states.” Blue states, like California, New York and Illinois, whose economies turn on finance, trade and knowledge, are generally richer than red states. But red states, like Texas, Georgia and Utah, have done...

Back in the Reagan days the Republicans were the BLUE Party; the Democrats were the RED Party. Somebody changed it after Reagan left politics; the switcharoo has been attributed to Tim Russert. At the time I didn't like it, but, judging from today's politics, it may have been a good move. The Democrats are acting like the typical blue-bloods of history. Those were the elitists who made their own laws and own law enforcement system. They, as an aristocracy, kept a safe distance between their own properties and lives and those of the common man. This is what we have...

A funny-sad back-and-forth appeared in the pages of the Hartford Courant last month. It started when one Christopher Edge wrote into the letters section to say he had had it and was moving out in a brief tirade entitled “Farewell, Connecticut.” More positive residents then chimed in with their support for the Nutmeg State. “Running away is not the solution,” chided one Patricia Karwoski. But what problems could Edge possibly be trying to duck by bailing? Who would run away from Connecticut in the first place? It seems a state not afflicted, a lovely, hilly green hamlet nestled between Boston...

Immigration is a complex problem. So is the long-term question of how the United States should handle the influx of tens of thousands of children from Central America. Beyond the legal mandates, we owe them basic human decency. On the other hand, to say that they should all simply stay here for good begs big questions about encouraging more children to make this journey, and the rights of all the people abroad who are waiting their turn in line. Unless you believe in open borders, it’s all thorny. What seems right for an individual child can seem wrong systemwide. But...
