We should always celebrate more freedom in our lives. December 5 is no different. Eighty-six years ago, Prohibition was repealed. This year, Texas can celebrate its own version of Repeal Day. This December marks three months since another kind of prohibition was abolished—on beer to go. On September 1, Texans were finally allowed to buy their favorite craft beer at a local brewery to bring and drink at home. Until that date, Texans could buy wine to bring home from a local winery and distilled spirits from a distillery, but in most cases, not beer from breweries. The places that...

Far be it from me to criticize a person based solely on their looks but have you ever seen 3 such goofy looking academics in your life?Like I said though, it’s not just their mugs. If central casting called for 3 pompous, supercilious professors with daddy issues, here’s your final cut. They landed the lead roles in the yesterday’s retelling of the Festivus story - brought to you by Little Jerry’s Deli.In the original version Festivus is celebrated on December 23, begins with the raising of the aluminum Festivus pole, followed by a nice meatloaf dinner and only then do...

Need advice, please. I will be going to the Hershey Rally on 10 December with a sister and two of her adult daughters. We plan to get there early, and we know that there will be a long wait. I am thinking about bringing an old lawn chair that I can throw away since I am sure that I would not be allowed to bring it into the arena. Will there be a way for me to dispose of the chair? What is the bathroom situation while one is in line and while inside the arena? #grannyponderings

The city of Marivan is located in Kordestan province. This city and part of Iraq share the same border. The history of Marivan goes back to about 1800 B.C., thus a point of interest for many international tourists. Marivan is considered one of the major cities of Kurdistan province and has a long history of battles with emperors and dictators of its time. Marivan’s ancient forts, its grasslands, and mighty mountains have been home to many legends and warriors. Although the people of Marivan have had their share of ebb and flow at different eras, they have been experiencing their...

Fully supported by President Donald Trump and Republicans and Democrats, the United States has finally condemned the treatment of the Uyghurs as leaked documents some time back gave a glimpse into the horrors taking place against them. What kind of monsters engage in organ harvesting upon sedated victims on an industrial scale? If some were terrorists you don't defeat evil by becoming evil. And it appears this may be more about confiscation of land and ultimately doing the same to dissidents in Hong Kong and Christians.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) extended an invitation for President Trump to participate in his upcoming impeachment hearing. "We will be following the same protocols that were used in Rep. Schiff's hearing," Nadler reminded. "Republicans may request that certain witnesses be asked to testify, but I will decide whether any specific witness will be called. Republicans will be allotted a limited amount of time to pose questions, but I will determine whether the witnesses will be permitted to respond. Republicans will be responsible for supplying the Committee members with donuts, but I will be in charge of how...

Twitter isn’t happy with Zachary Levi and his “straight white male privilege.” The criticism all started after the actor was accused of believing in the sexist practice of the friend zone. A fan of the “Shazam” actor took to Twitter to post about his thoughts on Levi’s recent livestream, “I’ve been thinking a lot about something Zach said in one of his Instagram lives lately,” user Stories With Web wrote. “Imagine a person saying something and then a group of people crowding them telling them why they are wrong or out of line. That terrifies me to think of, so...

Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday held a special closed-door huddle with her caucus to discuss impeachment, one day after Democrats unveiled a damning report on President Donald Trump's role in the Ukraine scandal that could lead to a vote to oust the president by year’s end. In a sign of the moment’s gravity, Pelosi and her leadership team ensured that the members-only gathering was tightly controlled, even more so than Democrats’ weekly caucus meetings. Lawmakers were not allowed to bring phones and a sign on the door read “no entrance” to keep out all staff, even senior aides who regularly...

Well, the Adumbass Schiffter played out his schitzkrieg and ran outta gas in the tangled forest of anti-trump lies, left-wing hypocrisy, and 3rd-hand gossip like Schickelgruber’s panzers in the Ardennes at the Battle of the Bulge. So, like the mental-midget fake wrestler he is, this week he’ll tag his fat-ass buddy Jerry-the-Hut to take over and trot out another squad of “I don’t like Trump, so he must have done something wrong” whineyasses to invent new “bombshells” to scuttle what has become a very effective and patriotic PotUS. Kinda symbolic, I think, that the “Intelligence” Committee utterly failed to produce...

A group of mental health professionals led by a trio of pre-eminent psychiatrists is urging the House Judiciary Committee to consider Donald Trump‘s “dangerous” mental state arising from his “brittle sense of self-worth” as part of its inquiry into whether to approve articles of impeachment against him. “We are speaking out at this time because we are convinced that, as the time of possible impeachment approaches, Donald Trump has the real potential to become ever more dangerous, a threat to the safety of our nation,” said Yale Medical School Professor Dr Bandy Lee, George Washington University Professor Dr John Zinner,...

When it comes to Twitter, Chris Evans has no problem sharing his feelings on the state of the union. In fact, the Avengers alum has more 13 million followers and his tweets tend to incite as much engagement as the president of the United States, who just happens to be one of the erstwhile Captain America’s favorite targets. Evans, who played Cap in 11 films (including four cameos) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe dating back to 2012, is known for getting political on the platform — in addition to President Donald Trump, Evans has been outspoken about former Ku Klux...

When you think of pole dancing, surely you do not think of it as a sport for young children rather than a sexually explicit activity that takes place in dark, seedy nightclubs. Apparently, this isn’t a ubiquitous option anymore, though. In the U.K., controversy erupted from those who still consider pole dancing to be entirely inappropriate for children after three young girls did a demonstration on ITV’s This Morning in which they showed off the “skills” they’ve learned while attending Pole Intentions classes in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. These classes are being defended by instructors and governing sports bodies alike, shockingly....

This hearing is nothing more than a debate about WHAT TRUMP SHOULD BE IMPEACHED FOR.. Verdict FIRST, determination of charge LATER? THIS IS WRONG. THIS IS NOT AMERICA. THIS IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL AND SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING IN AMERICA. I agree with what some FReepers have said recently about this SHAM: "America is finished".. WHAT WE ARE WITNESSING IS A TRAVESTY and an AFFRONT to our Constitutional norms.. These hearings represent a Banana Republic MASQUERADING as a Constitutional Republic!

Abstract: Fifteen years ago, Frey and Detterman established that the SAT (and later, with Koenig, the ACT) was substantially correlated with measures of general cognitive ability and could be used as a proxy measure for intelligence (Frey and Detterman, 2004; Koenig, Frey, and Detterman, 2008). Since that finding, replicated many times and cited extensively in the literature, myths about the SAT, intelligence, and academic achievement continue to spread in popular domains, online, and in some academic administrators. This paper reviews the available evidence about the relationships among the SAT, intelligence, and academic achievement, dispels common myths about the SAT, and...
