Democratic presidential candidate, former Rep. Beto O'Rourke (Tex) sought to stake out a middle ground vs. more radical opponents by offering what he dubbed "a Budget Green New Deal" with a price tag of only $5 trillion vs. the $93 trillion over ten years cost estimate of the American Action Forum. "The key to cost-effectively achieving the desired results is to focus on the minimal public sector outlays required to simply outlaw all fossil fuels and police the enforcement of this rule," O'Rourke explained. "Others have gone astray by trying to calculate the huge private sector costs in terms of...

Why is President Trump calling on the Federal Reserve to cut the rate by a full percentage point, despite the robust jobs number for April and the strong GDP report last week? Wall Street and most economists can’t rationalize the demand and feel if the good data continues the next move by Jerome Powell may be to raise rates. What the “experts” are missing in the equation is the unprecedented events that will take place in the second quarter of this year well outside of the economy. What will investors do when the top intelligence officials from the Obama administration...

In a recent op-ed, fired FBI Director James Comey was back again preaching to the nation about the dangers of Donald Trump and his capacity to corrupt any top-ranking federal official of lower character than Comey’s own. Comey seems to have become utterly unhinged by Donald Trump, especially when the president, in his thick Queens accent, scoffs in the vernacular—quite accurately, given the transgressions of the FBI hierarchy—about “crooked cops.” What an affront to Comey’s complexity, his subtlety, his sophistication, his feigned Hamlet-like self-doubt—at least as now expressed in his latest incarnation as Twitter’s Kahlil Gibran. One can say a...

Boeing made many mistakes during the design process of the Boeing 737 MAX series aircraft. The MAX series is the successor of the NG (Next Generation) series of Boeing 737. As a result of these mistakes two brand new Boeing 737 MAX aircraft crashed in the same phase of the flight under similar conditions killing 346 people. The Boeing Company issued an apology and, for the first time, acknowledged its automatic flight control system (Maneuver Characteristics Augmentation System or MCAS) played a role in the two plane crashes.

(snip) 2020 Watch: Trump May Repeat Hillary’s Big MistakeThe 2020 race “is Donald Trump’s to lose,” declares The Week’s Matthew Walther. But his “obsession with relitigating” the Mueller probe, while “understandable and probably justified,” will “do him no favors with the crucial 100,000 or so voters, many of them Democrats, who pushed him to victory” in 2016 in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Nor will the fact that “manufacturing jobs, especially in the auto industry, have continued to disappear in the former two states.” His campaign manager talks of seeking wins elsewhere to make up for Midwest losses. But that strategy,...

Sen. Bernie Sanders outlined his plan to raise taxes on the wealthy in an interview Sunday on ABC's "This Week." Sanders said that it was "insane" that Amazon, a company owned by the richest man in the world, paid zero dollars in federal income taxes last year and vowed to "raise corporate taxes and do away with these tax havens." "We're going to ask the people at top to start paying their fair share," Sanders said. "At the end of the day, we cannot continue this grotesque level of income and wealth inequality that currently exists." (snip) SANDERS: So, for...

Political science is the study of homo politicus, what Plato considered the most quintessential of human behaviors. Over the centuries, it has generated a library of observations, theories, and findings about the way we think and act. The work has forged a broad consensus in many of the discipline’s realms of inquiry. Yet, although academic political scientists consider themselves experts who have built robust models validated by all sorts of empirical studies, they seem to believe the kinds of misinformed and prejudicial attitudes and anti-social and harmful behavior they attribute to just about everyone else have somehow evaded them. That...

Elegance Quality Lethality Purdey’s latest bolt-action rifle features the company’s handcrafted excellence. Best Quality British bolt action rifles have always been known for their exquisite workmanship and total reliability in the hunting field in remote continents far from a gunsmith. Accuracy was always up to the highest standards of the day but it was all about hunting accuracy in the field, for these guns were built for hunters who took them to the far flung corners of the world after exotic game. Today's shooters are more and more obsessed with sub-minute of angle groups and the world famous London gunmakers...

“We are moving toward a dictatorship of relativism which does not recognize anything as for certain and which has as its highest goal one’s own ego and one’s own desires.” —Pope Benedict XVI For purposes of our discussion, postmodern politics began with The Big Lie that there is no such thing as absolute truth, only your truth, my truth…whatever. If Alan Bloom could see us now: things have turned out much worse than he imagined. The Big Lie has become so accepted that the Oxford English Dictionary named “post-truth” the word of the year in 2016. Post-truth – an adjective defined...

Today’s Campaign Update (Because The Campaign Never Ends) Another day, another half-filled high school gym. – When President Donald Trump (I never tire of typing those three glorious words) goes to a state, any state, to hold a rally, his advance people book the largest local enclosed arena, and he ends up speaking to a packed house of thousands with thousands more standing outside, watching on huge video screens. When Joe Biden, the runaway leader in Democrat presidential nomination polls, goes to a state, any state, to hold a rally, his advance people ask the friendliest local high school principal...

At Carter's invitation Buttigieg stood and read from the Bible as part of the lesson at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains. "You know him?" Carter had said earlier in reference to Buttigieg, drawing a laugh from the crowd.

The Washington Post is discounting America’s win in World War Two because American forces were all “racists.” I guess that we now have to delete America’s part in World War Two from the history books to suit liberal sensibilities just like we are erasing statues to military people all across the nation. The attack on the Allied Forces in WWII came in an idiotic liberal article with the unwieldy title of, “Allied leaders were anti-Nazi, but not anti-racist. We’re now paying the price for their failure.” The article by a foaming-at-the-mouth lib named John Broich — who claims to be...

The US Defense Department expects China to add military bases around the world to protect its investments in it ambitious One Belt One Road global infrastructure program, according to an official report released on Thursday. Beijing currently has just one overseas military base, in Djibouti, but is believed planning others, including possibly Pakistan, as it seeks to project itself as a global superpower. “China’s advancement of projects such as the ‘One Belt, One Road’ Initiative (OBOR) will probably drive military overseas basing through a perceived need to provide security for OBOR projects,” the Pentagon said in its annual report to...

Article V is the essence of the American Revolution, the right of all peoples to amend their governing form as “shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.” Conservative opposition groups curiously stand alongside those who, without Article V, handily and regularly amend our Constitution through the levers of a government corrupted far and away from its original and lofty purposes. A common and erroneous belief among Article V opponents equates state delegates to a COS with congressional representatives. Certainly, they reason, since the takeover of the US House of Representatives by the radical Left, no sane people...

FARMINGTON, Minn. — Farmington High School’s Rogue Robotics team is on a roll. The media buzz from the team’s Project Cillian — they built a modified wheelchair for a Farmington boy with a disability — grew so loud it reached the White House. Earlier this week, coach Spencer Elvebak got a call from aides organizing first lady Melania Trump’s “Be Best” event, asking if he could come to Washington on Tuesday, May 7, to be recognized for the project. Elvebak was floored. “The kids are all ecstatic about it,” he said. “I cried,” said Cami Schachtele, 17, who builds field...

With a menu that includes matzo ball soup and gefilte fish, as well as a full-time rabbi and a chance at the occasional visit home, the U.S. prison where Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer will spend the next three years is unique in the federal system. Michael Cohen is due to report to the Federal Correctional Institute in Otisville, New York, about 70 miles (110 km) northwest of New York City, on Monday. The 52-year-old Cohen will be housed in dorm-like accommodations at the facility’s minimum-security camp, which prison consultants say has become a destination for Jewish inmates due to...

One of the greatest paradoxes about birth control is that, while it may make sex seem more available to women, many women taking the drugs feel less in the mood. The connections between hormonal contraceptives and symptoms of low libido are long established. But research reveals further reasons women may be experiencing less sexual pleasure while on the Pill, ring, patch, implant, or IUD. Not only have hormonal contraceptives been shown to significantly decrease women’s testosterone levels, and lead to severe depression and suicide attempts . . .
