Lex picked up on a column by Sam Harris that demonstrates that old adage about politics and bedfellows well. Commenting on the challenge the world faces in differentiating between “good Muslims†and “bad Muslimsâ€, Harris correctly notes, The connection between the doctrine of Islam and Islamist violence is simply not open to dispute. It’s not that critics of religion like myself speculate that such a connection might exist: the point is that Islamists themselves acknowledge and demonstrate this connection at every opportunity and to deny it is to retreat within a fantasy world of political correctness and religious apology. Then,...

05/06/2008 DON JACOBS: Memories of Mom and peach tree switches By: Don Jacobs , The Enterprise Sunday will be Mothers Day, so it's not too early to begin thinking of appreciative ways to express love toward those who live and fond remembrances for the ones no longer with us There are as many ways to commemorate the special occasion as there are mothers, and while all moms are unique, they generally share certain qualities. Perhaps readers will picture their own as I recall mine. Strict? She invented the word, or at least I thought so at 9. I would do...

RFFM.org Commentary I have a very close friend who worked in the oil industry for many years. Let's call him Joe. Joe started working in the oil fields of foreboding places like North Dakota as a roughneck where temperatures regularly reached forty degrees below zero or more in the winter. In the summer, the weather was not forgiving either. Frequently, the thermometer topped 100 degrees in the shade, but the derricks never shut down because the oil had to keep flowing. In later years, Joe worked his way up into management where he learned the ins and outs of the...

It is now late on Sinko de Demo, the eve of the latest phase of Operation Chaos. Operatives in Indiana and North Carolina are, at this moment, synchronizing their watches (especially important in Indiana) and awaiting final instructions from Commander Rush. WE MARCH AT DAWN! Meanwhile, the DUmmies, KOmmies, and HUffies are nervously downing their anti-depressants, fearing the likely outcome of Tuesday's tallies: THE CHAOS CONTINUES! PJ will probably have another DUFU here soon, with a DUmmie/KOmmie/HUffie thread bemoaning the endless headache that is the Democrat race. But to whet your appetite, you can start singing this brand new...

Artorius Engineers are back at the Artorius Space Flight Center (KAFC) in Hangar 18, trying to determine why the Drone can't acquire lift. We will get it right, we have to, next week is the test launch of the Artorius Surface to Air Missile prototype, and we need a working drone for targeting purposes. Stay tuned, we will have video of that, too..

Welcome Larry Sinclair readers!!!! First, what the hell is George Soros-funded, Ralph Nader’s Public Citizen Litigation Group doing supporting Larry Sinclair’s detractors? The court filings representing mzmolly, TubeSockTedD, OWNINGLIARS and the Democratic Underground were put together by Public Citizen Litigation Group. I find this incredibly interesting. Public Citizen’s involvement shows that it is going to bat for the Obama campaign…and it’s not surprising, considering that Ted Kennedy and a bunch of democrats endorse it. To my knowledge, however, its purpose was not to defend citizens from litigation - it was to go after corporations. The last I knew, Larry Sinclair...

Three years ago, Abdullah Saleh al-Ajmi, a Kuwaiti soldier who deserted to fight in Afghanistan alongside the Taliban, sat in a detention cell at the U.S. naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, while lawyers argued whether he was an "enemy combatant." Last week, a Dubai-based television channel reported that al-Ajmi was killed carrying out a homicide bombing in Mosul, Iraq.

As the West's industrial regime sputters toward a cheap-energy-crackup conclusion, there have been attempts to recast what our economy is actually about, how to account for whatever wealth we manage to produce, and project what our society will actually be organized to do in the years ahead. For a while in the 1990s, the idea was a "service economy," kind of like the old fable of the town whose inhabitants made a living by taking in each other's laundry -- only in our case it was selling hamburgers to tourists on vacation from their jobs making hamburgers elsewhere, or something...

Put on the defensive by charges of “elitism,” Democratic presidential contender Senator Barack Obama (Ill) insisted that he can appeal to people in all walks of life. “Those who say I can’t connect with the diverse peoples of this country don’t know the real me,” Obama said. “To say that I don’t understand the point of view of the blue-collar man is absurd. I, myself, have often worn a shirt with a blue collar. There are pictures of me in a blue shirt at campaign rallies. So, don’t tell me I don’t know what it is like to wear a...

Apparently the filming of the new James Bond movie Quantum of Silence is being plagued with problems. While listening to McIntyre In The Morning on KABC in Los Angeles this morning, I was dismayed when KABC entertainment reporter Debra Mark (pictured) lightly and semi-laughingly mentioned that one of the film crew had been "stabbed in a domestic dispute." In fact, according to the UPI article she was reading from (see below), the man almost died. Host Doug McIntyre (pictured below) and co-host Rob Marenko, both normally reasonable men, seemed mildly amused, too. All together now--"If a wife was stabbed and...

I have thought of a way to reduce the homeless problem of many cities. Perhaps we can charter a bus or two in each city, and peruse the homeless areas. We can offer each urban outdoorsman 20 dollars and a bottle of thunderbird, if they take a ride on the bus. Each bus will then leave said city, and head west to deposit the urban outdoorsmen upon the shining steets of Berkley, California.

Ron Paul still remains in the GOP Primary race. But if he pulls out who will he support? Not McCain. He inferred that he might endorse a Democrat. Barack Obama to be precise. Ron Paul and his Revolution continues. (Video Included)

Just for fun, let us remember today the real(sic) history behind Sinko de Mayo. Most people don't know that back in 1912, Hellmann's mayonnaise was manufactured in England. In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico, which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop in New York. This would have been the largest single shipment of mayonnaise ever delivered to Mexico. But as we know, the great ship did not make it to New York. The ship hit an iceberg and sank,...

“He Cares for You” (John 17:1-5; 1 Peter 5:6-7)“He Cares for You.” Yes, he does, God cares for you very much. St. Peter tells you this when he encourages you to be “casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” So that’s what we want to do today. We will cast all our anxieties on God, and we will hear how, and how much, our God cares for us. What are your anxieties, and what is God’s care that deals with those anxieties? Those are the questions we’ll be asking. The first and greatest anxiety that people...

Forget this last post, the Federal Reserve has stepped in and settled the debate that was brewing between the White House & Congress. Basically, the student loan companies need someone to buy some loans so they can have enough reserve cash to offer more loans in the future. Due to high default rates, high inflation rates, and overall low student loan return rates, no investors are showing up for the normal bond auctions. Part of this, of course, is due to an over-correction by Congress during the financial boom period of 2004 to 2006. By the time legislation had passed...

It appears somebody went through Free Republic and added all the best cartoons to his commentary about Sunday's talk shows. Very interesting points about Obama, Hillary, Reverend Wright, Iraq, Fox News, Howard Dean and the upcoming Dem primaries. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzzQPkdWgz4
