Several Republican senators have taken issue with the American Bar Association (ABA) and are calling for President Donald Trump to take drastic action against the group. In a letter to ABA President William Bay, lawmakers said the group, which plays a key role in judicial nominations, had become "biased and ideologically captured." Now, those lawmakers want President Trump to "remove the ABA from the judicial nomination process entirely."Sen. Eric Schmitt, Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Marsha Blackburn, Sen. Josh Hawley, Sen. Bernie Moreno and Sen. Mike Lee are also calling on their fellow senators to "disregard the ABA’s recommendations."In the explosive...

A Seattle area bar association is apologizing after publishing an article calling for a genocide of Jews in its newsletter. The King County Bar Association Board of Trustees apologized after printing an article from one of its members and former director, Dua Abudiab, entitled From The River To The Sea, a phrase that calls for the destruction of Israel and the ethnic cleansing of its residents. Abudiab’s antisemitic screed was printed on the front page of the King County Bar Bulletin above the fold. Abudiab equated claims of "white nationalism" occupying North America to justify Palestinian claims to Israel despite...

The Working Families Party and all four members of the ‘Squad’ unveiled an agenda Thursday evening designed to push Joe Biden to the far-left should he win the presidency in November. Known as the “People’s Charter,” the plan seeks universal health care, re-allocation of resources away from policing, canceling student debt, and advancing the tenets behind the Green New Deal. Fox News reports that “a number of local and federal lawmakers have signed on, including the four members of the freshman squad.” Those four members consist of Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and Rashida Tlaib...

Friends: It has come to our attention that the American Bar Association is currently considering amending Rule 8.4 of the Model Rules of Professional Conduct in a way that will threaten the ability of conscientious Christian attorneys to participate in the legal profession. About 600 of Chicago’s top African-American lawyers and judges gave standing ovations Thursday to two preachers who’ve been vilified in recent months for their sermons that went nationwide on the Web. The Rev. Jeremiah Wright and the Rev. Michael Pfleger became headaches for Democrat Barack Obama’s presidential campaign when their controversial comments became fodder for conservative talk-show hosts. Wright said “God damn America” in arguing that American foreign policy helped bring on the 9/11 attacks. Pfleger said Hillary Clinton resented Obama as a black man taking the nomination she felt was hers. But despite the heat on them, the two...

KEYSTONE — Global warming is the hottest story of our time, and it will get even bigger as the full implications of melting ice caps and rising sea levels percolate through the media pipeline and into general public awareness, a panel of journalists said last weekend during the American Bar Association's environmental law conference. The discussion was focused on how the media has covered the story and whether or not public perception of global warming has changed in recent months and years. Among the questions the panelists tried to answer is why it has taken so long for the story...

The United Nations has described the situation in Darfur as the world's gravest humanitarian crisis. In 2004, then-secretary of state Colin Powell called it genocide. On Tuesday, a US Congressional delegation that had visited Sudan told UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, "The issue of Darfur challenges the conscience of our country." So what is being done about it? Darfur is a province in the southwest of Sudan, an Arab country. The area had a population of about 6 million - about 2 million have fled to neighboring Chad, while about 400,000 were killed by the Sudanese military and the Janjaweed militias...

Does anyone have information about the Akron Bar Association's organization of Poll "Observers" for Ohio polling places on election day? There was a notice posted at the University of Akron law School a few weeks ago saying such effort was underway sponsored by the "non-partisen" AFL-CIO, League of Women Voters and NAACP? Sounds like trouble to me.
