There are people in Washington who hate each other but who, for public consumption, pretend not to hate each other. What was almost refreshing about the relationship of Sen. John McCain and President Trump was that there was no such pretending. A number of Trump's 2016 Republican primary rivals who serve in the U.S. Senate -- Marco Rubio, Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz and Rand Paul -- said some pretty vicious things about Trump during the campaign, and of course, Trump said vicious things about them. Now, some of them have future political ambitions that would not be served by feuding...

President Trump on Wednesday threw his support behind GOP Rep. Martha McSally’s run for Senate in Arizona. Mr. Trump stayed on the sidelines during the hard-fought Republican primary in which Ms. McSally on Tuesday bested two opponents who were closely allied with the president. “Martha McSally is an extraordinary woman. She was a very talented fighter jet pilot and is now a highly respected member of Congress. She is Strong on Crime, the Border and our under siege 2nd Amendment. Loves our Military and our Vets. Has my total and complete Endorsement!” Mr. Trump tweeted.

POTUS-backed: Republicans backed by POTUS Donald Trump cruised to victory in primaries around the country on Tuesday. In Florida, Rep. Ron DeSantis easily won the GOP nomination for governor to replace current Republican Gov. Rick Scott, who is running for the U.S. Senate...

Pretty decisive Only 29% for Ward. Blame Arpaio I guess. Ward is now damaged for the 2020 McCain rerun. We can only hope that turnout was high.

POTUS Trump endorsed candidates win in Arizona this evening. Republican, Martha McSally (Senate) & Republican, Doug Ducey (Governor) have easily won their primary races tonight. McSally will go on to be elected Senator from Arizona and, Ducey will be easily re-elected and maintain his Governor position. No Democrat "Blue Wave" in Arizona!!! Ducey will soon declare who he is appointing to serve the remainder of the Senate term of passed on, Senator John McCain. Hopefully he will appoint Ms. Kelli Ward to that assignment, rather then a McCain family member.

Big night for @MarthaMcSally in Arizona! Martha served our nation with distinction in the @usairforce & she will be a great addition to the US Senate helping enact the @realDonaldTrump agenda. Get out and support Martha in November! — Mike Pence (@mike_pence) August 29, 2018

Arizona officials knew on Monday about issues plaguing voting machines at certain polling locations, a day before the state's primary elections, according to the Associated Press. Polling sites across the state have faced technical difficulties throughout the day, as voters pick nominees for U.S. House and Senate seats, as well as state and local offices. Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes said at a press conference Tuesday morning that his office had been alerted to issues with voting equipment when troubleshooters were testing polling sites on Monday, The Arizona Republic reported. Fontes said a contractor was supposed to provide more than...

John McCain's exit from life and politics has commentators of all sorts falling into interpretive contortions. "I opposed him, but..." "I liked him in spite of..." It was McCain's gift, springing from personality and life experiences, to antagonize and enrapture, to confound and excite, often at the very same moment. He was neither wholly one thing nor entirely another: neither hardline "conservative" nor "establishment" dupe; neither the selfless public servant incarnate nor the loosey-goosey adherent to some individualistic code. I admired and twice voted for the man. Even in not-infrequent moments of disagreement, I took care to cut him some...

The White House on Monday afternoon re-lowered its flags to half staff after drawing significant backlash for returning them to full staff less than 48 hours after the death of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.). Multiple reporters noted on social media that the flags were flying at half staff once again. The White House did not immediately respond to questions for comment on why the change was made.

Trying to create a scandal over Republican presidential candidate John McCain's failure to rebuke a woman supporter who called Hillary Clinton a “bitch,” CNN's Rick Sanchez led Tuesday night's Out in the Open with what he insisted was the “relevant and newsworthy” topic as he seriously asked: “Is John McCain done as a result of this?” He later speculated: “Is his campaign dead in the water?” Betraying the skew of those at CNN, Sanchez told guest Amy Holmes: “He could be in trouble for this from women, especially the ones that've been talking to me today in our newsroom who...

"We called the White House and they acted swiftly on the Friday event, which has since been postponed," said a staff member for Republican Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who complained that the event would have openly undermined President Donald Trump’s agenda on Cuba."The event in question has been postponed," a State Department official confirmed."This (event) was designed to embarrass the president and Pompeo—somebody needs to be held to account," one source said. "The fact that State Department officials were advancing a program that is so slanted and completely at odds with the president's directive on Cuba, I am concerned what...

May 28, 2014 - 06:02 PMInvestment_U Back in January, I wrote a column explaining the supply-demand squeeze in nickel. One way I suggested to play the nickel squeeze, the iPath Dow Jones-AIG Nickel Total Return Sub-Index ETN (NYSE: JJN), is up 38% from my recommendation. Did you buy that fund? Well, if you didn't, there's no need to kick yourself. The nickel run isn't over. In fact, if anything, the supply/demand squeeze powering nickel's surge is likely to get stronger. The biggest user of nickel is China. Nickel is used to make stainless steel, and China makes a lot of...

It wasn't until recent years that I found myself in opposition to John McCain. The once "maverick" and "hawk" was anything but. He became a bought and paid for politician that had many in his own Party, turning on him. If it wasn't enough to learn about the numerous donations from George Soros linked businesses to his campaigns, with the rise of Donald Trump, we saw a very bitter and embattled man, who lashed out in policy decisions from what appeared to be his own personal issues. Trump did what McCain could not. Trump went on the attack - even...

Shadowed by the death of six-term Sen. John McCain, Arizona voters are nominating candidates to replace his seat-mate in a primary contest that lays bare the fissures in a Republican Party dramatically remade by President Donald Trump. Three Republicans are vying Tuesday to replace Sen. Jeff Flake, who is retiring after his fierce criticism of Trump made his political future in the state untenable. All three, including establishment favorite Rep. Martha McSally, have embraced Trump and distanced themselves from McCain — a sign of how far the late senator’s status had fallen with conservatives who dominate Arizona’s GOP primaries. The...

Its Primary Election Day in Arizona and Florida today with the 3-way Republican Senate primary to find a candidate for the fall. Anti-President Trump Republican Jeff Flake is retiring. Conservative candidate Kelli Ward is facing a massive media campaign against her and the vote splitting caused by former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's presence in the race.... There were injuries as rival protests took to the streets in the German city of Chemnitz Monday. One man was killed and two others injured early Sunday in a knife attack with a Syrian and an Iraqi suspect in custody.... Meanwhile Syria was...

Hyperbole is the currency of presidential campaigns, but this year the nation’s future truly hangs in the balance. The United States is battered and drifting after eight years of President Bush’s failed leadership. He is saddling his successor with two wars, a scarred global image and a government systematically stripped of its ability to protect and help its citizens — whether they are fleeing a hurricane’s floodwaters, searching for affordable health care or struggling to hold on to their homes, jobs, savings and pensions in the midst of a financial crisis that was foretold and preventable. As tough as the...

If calling constituents concerned about illegal immigration "crazies" is a term of endearment, what would be an insult? On today's Morning Joe, John McCain refused to apologize to the thousands of Arizonans attending a Trump rally that McCain called "crazies." According to McCain, "crazies" is a "term of endearment" and a "term of affection."

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said this weekend that he will introduce a resolution to rename the Senate's Russell Office Building for Sen. John McCain, who died on Saturday at his home in Arizona. McCain died 13 months after he was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer. Schumer, D-New York, praised his colleague as an American patriot and said he would introduce the resolution “so that generations remember him." "As you go through life, you meet few truly great people," Schumer said in a statement. "John McCain was one of them. His dedication to his country and the...
