Elaine Ellingerâs article reveals why banning Sharia without defining religion is a legal fraudâand what must be done to stop the endless cycle of empty legislation. Randy Fineâs proposed U.S. legislation, H.R. 5512, titled: No Shariâa Act, promises to prohibit U.S. courts from enforcing any ruling âbased in whole or in partâ on Sharia if it violates constitutional rights.Hope is not strategy. The bill is well-intentioned but doomed. Remarkably, the bill never once defines the word âShariâaâ â leaving judges to guess what qualifies. Without that definition, and without fixing the deeper constitutional blind spot on what actually qualifies as a...

Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed into law House Bill 45, more commonly known as âAmerican Laws for American Courts,â or ALAC. It prohibits the use of any foreign law in the stateâs courts, specifically in family cases that involve marriage or parent-child relationship matters. One of the billâs co-authors Representative Jeff Leach (R-Plano) thanked the governor, who signed HB 45 on Wednesday. Leach called the law âvitally important bill to further safeguard and protect our Constitutional rights!â In the last legislative session, Leach authored the comparable yet unsuccessful ALAC measure, House Bill 562. HB 45 lead author Representative Dan Flynn...

NEW YORK CITY â An increasingly vocal anti-Muslim activist group has kicked off protests in numerous cities across the country, marching in opposition to Islamic law, which the group believes is threatening American society. ACT for America, a lobbyist organization with close ties to the Trump administration that has helped pass state-level bills targeting Islamic law and refugees, organized the protests as a nationwide âMarch Against Sharia.â

Over 100 people attended todayâs anti-terrorism rally in New York City, wherein a wealth of new right and new media figures attended, spoke, and live-streamed the dayâs events. Despite the rain, the anti-extremism, anti-Sharia, anti-terrorism rally went off without a hitch. The crowd was excited and animated and the speakers were rousing in their condemnation of terrorism, Islamic extremism, and Sharia Law. At the heart of the rally was the condemnation of the empowerment of a figure like Linda Sarsour who has been given a platform of open-arms from the left. She is only famous, of course, because of her...

A North Carolina bill that prohibits judges from considering foreign law, including Islamic Shariah, became law Monday without Gov. Pat McCroryâs signature. The bill was one of 34 passed by the legislature during the summer. McCrory signed the other 33 bills, calling the anti-Shariah bill âunnecessary,â but declined to veto it...

TALLAHASSEE â An imam, a rabbi and a pastor walked into Senate President Mike Haridopolosâ office Wednesday with two demands: Withdraw the foreign law bill they say targets Muslims, and investigate who is behind anti-Muslim booklets and flyers circulating the Senate. Haridopolos, R-Merritt Island, presiding over a long-running Senate session, did not engage the clergy or the 20 Muslims, Christians and Jews who carpooled from around the state to protest together. The group organized after reading about the anti-Muslim booklets and flyers. At issue is a booklet Sen. Alan Hays, R-Umatilla, delivered to fellow senators called Shariâah Law: Radical Islamâs...

Resistance to a new bill aimed at limiting foreign law in Pennsylvania courts serves as a case study of how Islamists and their allies operate: peddling falsehoods about Shari'a, painting Muslims as victims, and denying that anyone seeks to institutionalize aspects of Islamic law â even as they vigorously promote that very agenda. With similar legislation being debated across the U.S., understanding their tactics is critical. At issue in Pennsylvania is House Bill (HB) 2029, which stipulates that "a tribunal shall not consider a foreign legal code or system which does not grant ⌠the same fundamental liberties, rights and...

A federal appeals court upheld an injunction against a voter-approved ban on Islamic law in Oklahoma on Tuesday, saying it likely violated the U.S. Constitution by discriminating against religion. A three-member panel of the Denver-based U.S. Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled unanimously that the rights of plaintiff Muneer Awad, a Muslim man living in Oklahoma City, likely would be violated if the ban on Sharia law takes effect. The decision upholds the ruling of a lower federal court. "While the public has an interest in the will of the voters being carried out ... the public has a more...

In a decision that Muslim legal advocates celebrated as a major win, a federal appeals court on Tuesday agreed with a lower court that blocked an Oklahoma law that would have barred state courts from considering or using Sharia law â the Islamic code of conduct. The law would likely dampen similar legislation proposed in at least 20 U.S. states over the last couple of years, said Noah Feldman, professor of law at Harvard University. The decision âshould have a good, positive, desirable chilling effect,â said Feldman. âIt should tell people in those jurisdictions that (similar laws) almost all will...

Right now, our country is dealing with issues â issues like illegal immigration, healthcare reform, the War on Terror â that will shape our politics for the rest of this century. Like many Americans, Iâve grown to feel that the politicians of this country are simply not accomplishing anything on these fronts. As low as the Presidentâs approval rating has gotten, the approval rating for Congress is even lower. So, as a concerned and informed citizen, Iâve decided to run for Congress and help put things on the right track. Thatâs what living in a democracy is all about.
