Police in Germany have arrested 10 people on suspicion of planning an Islamist attack. The arrests were made after some 200 police officers carried out raids in the states of Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate. The bodies on the streets of Graz, Austria weren’t even cold before police moved to reassure the public they had only witnessed a random act of violence by a mentally ill killer yesterday, but the attack has all the hallmarks of an emerging form of terror. There were three deaths and 34 other injuries yesterday as the driver of a large family car sped though the main shopping areas of Graz at speeds witnesses have claimed to be as high as 90 miles an hour.
