KYIV — Casualties continue to mount in the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict, causing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to make the decision to call up 3,000 U.S. military reserve soldiers."I need all the forces I command at my disposal," Zelensky said when announcing the activation of American troops. "These young men and women have been well-trained to defend Ukraine, and now is the time to fulfill their purpose."

Rick Perry's campaign is pointing to Mitt Romney's defense of the Wall St. bailouts as the latest sign that he's President Obama's Republican twin. "This is just one more example about how Mitt Romney has more in common with Obama and the Democrats than with the Republicans," the Texas governor's spokeswoman Catherine Frazier told the Daily News. Romney defended parts of the bank bailout program during the Republican presidential debate on Tuesday, arguing it was necessary to "keep the entire currency of the country worth something." The former Massachusetts governor added, "We could have had a complete meltdown of our...

Paterson Teacher Suspended After Allegedly Calling Students ‘Future Criminals’ On Facebook April 1, 2011 3:39 PM PATERSON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — A New Jersey first-grade teacher who allegedly posted derogatory comments about her students on her Facebook page has been suspended. Several parents who saw the posts apparently came to Paterson School 21 and asked that their children be removed from her class. The teacher’s name has not been released. The Paterson school district is said to have ordered the removal of the post earlier this week. In it, the teacher reportedly called her 6 and 7-year-old students “future criminals” and...

DURHAM, N.H. — Rick Santorum on Friday asserted that Sharia law has no place in America. “Jihadism is evil and we need to say what it is,” he said at the Strafford County Lincoln-Reagan dinner, remarks that show how the former Pennsylvania senator continues to establish himself as the candidate most-aligned with the Republican Party’s conservative base. “We need to define it and say what it is. And it is evil. Sharia law is incompatible with American jurisprudence and our Constitution.” Santorum, invoking New York Rep. Peter King’s hearing this week on the alleged radicalization of American Muslims, said that...

NPR was jolted Tuesday by the release of a videotape that showed one of the organization’s fund-raising executives repeatedly criticizing Republicans and Tea Party supporters. The executive, Ronald Schiller, was recorded secretly by the Republican filmmaker and mischief-maker James O’Keefe. On the videotape, Mr. Schiller tells people posing as Muslim philanthropists that the Republican party has been “hijacked” by the Tea Party and that Tea Party supporters are “seriously racist, racist people.” Mr. Schiller indicates that he is sharing his personal point of view, not NPR’s.

Voices around the world, from Europe to America to Libya, are calling for U.S. intervention to help bring down Moammar Gadhafi. Yet for bringing down Saddam Hussein, the U.S. has been denounced variously for aggression, deception, arrogance and imperialism. A strange moral inversion, considering that Saddam's evil was an order of magnitude beyond Gadhafi's. Gadhafi is a capricious killer; Saddam was systematic. Gadhafi was too unstable and crazy to begin to match the Baathist apparatus: a comprehensive national system of terror, torture and mass murder, gassing entire villages to create what author Kanan Makiya called a "Republic of Fear." Moreover,...

Radio host Michael Savage was my first conservative friend -- although I've never met the man. When I woke up from liberalism two and a half years ago, I had nowhere to turn. My friends thought I had lost my marbles. Having vaguely heard something about talk radio, I scanned my AM dial. I happened upon a cantankerous man with a Bronx accent bellowing that liberalism is a mental disorder. To my relief, I had found my first living, breathing conservative. Everything that came out of Savage's mouth offended me. He blared on about feminized men; borders, language and...

Warming up a crowd in North Carolina Saturday, Republican Rep. Robin Hayes offered the diagnosis that “liberals hate real Americans that work and achieve and believe in God.” His remarks came shortly after he had said he would “make sure we don’t say something stupid, make sure we don’t say something we don’t mean.” Hayes had followed Rep. Patrick McHenry, also a North Carolina Republican, who laid out the choice between McCain and Obama. “It’s like black and white,” yelled someone from the crowd. HT: ThinkProgress Update: Hayes spokeswoman, Amanda Little, says that Hayes absolutely denies making the comments that...

If I were an aspiring sexist or racist -- God forbid -- yet still cared what people thought about me, I'd make sure I became a conspicuous liberal. I'd also make sure my targets were conservative. That's the ticket to immunity for all kinds of outrageous conduct and statements. If you are a liberal darling, like Bill Clinton was for a decade and a half, you can exploit, abuse and sexually harass women and still be considered a champion of women's rights. When you're his equally leftist wife, you can be the commander in chief of bimbo eruptions, obliterate your...

BARACK OBAMA can deliver a brilliant speech tonight, but its impact could evaporate within days. John McCain and his allies have opened the 2008 Swift Boating season. Four years ago, a smear outfit called Swift Boat Veterans for Truth began trashing John Kerry's Vietnam War record. Kerry was never the same. Helter Skelter. What the GOP does is throw out so many attacks that the target and voters get confused and disoriented. This all-out Helter Skelter Republican attack machine is something Obama has never experienced. It always starts small. A small lie. First, they say he's like Paris Hilton. Then...

By Michelle Malkin • August 26, 2008 04:41 PM I noted this morning that the Obama campaign’s Chicago-style thug effort to shut down the independent ad on Bill Ayers is part of the larger effort to intimidate conservative donors and curtail the free speech of The One’s critics. It’s getting uglier, people. Obama’s lawyer has sent a second letter to the Justice Department calling for the head of Dallas billionare Harold Simmons, who funded the Ayers ad that the Obama campaign doesn’t want the public to see.Feel the chill: Obama general counsel Bob Bauer today sent a second, sharper letter to the Justice...

Obama calls for a "Terrorists' Bill of Rights""Establishing a Terrorists' Bill of Rights is critical to repairing America's image in the eyes of the world. These same terrorists who have no compunction about murdering thousands of innocent people will surely be moved by my efforts to 're-establish our credibility as a nation committed to the rule of law.'" A weekly satirical feature from your friends at Not WRIGHT for America Not WRIGHT for America has learned that Barack Obama will make the bold and surprising move of calling for a Terrorists' Bill of Rights. Senator Obama will use the occasion...

U.S. officials are being advised in internal government documents to avoid referring publicly to al Qaeda and other terrorist groups as Islamic or Muslim, and not to use terms like jihad or mujahedeen, which "unintentionally legitimize" terrorism. "There' s a growing consensus [in the Bush administration] that we need to move away from that language," said a former senior administration official who was involved until recently in policy debates on the issue. Instead, in two documents circulated last month by the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), the multiagency center charged with strategic coordination of the U.S. war on terror, officials are...

In a landmark address on race, which has already eclipsed Martin Luther King’s ‘I Have a Dream‘ speech, Democrat presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama today said the U.S. can achieve the Founding Fathers’ vision of “a more perfect union” only if black and white come together to overthrow the bourgeoisie who run the military-industrial complex and control the means of production. In distancing himself from the “wrong” and “divisive” racially-charged preaching of his long-time pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Sen. Obama simultaneously defused America’s racial tensions, while filling his listeners with “the audacity to hope that the empire of American...
