Still, some gun-control advocates say Obama could do more than talk. "We believe that on a few very specific fronts they can do more to crack down on bad-apple gun dealers, the very small percentage of gun dealers who sell almost every crime gun in the U.S.," said Dan Gross, president of the Brady campaign. "The ATF has the power to crack down on them and pull their licenses if they are responsible for business practices that wind up causing gun crime and gun violence." The White House could also lead a national conversation on the public health and safety...

Barack Obama really does think he’s a king. He’s now redistributing $29 million of taxpayer dollars to the families of the nine people murdered by Dylann Roof in Charleston, South Carolina. That comes to $3.2 million per family. Where in the Constitution does it say the president can or should do this? This looks like theft.

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope Francis on Sunday reaffirmed Catholic opposition to gay marriage as he opened a three-week gathering of bishops from around the world but said the Church had to show love and understanding towards all. Francis presided at a solemn Mass in St. Peter's Basilica to open the meeting, known as a synod, on the theme of the family in the modern world.

There’s an illness sweeping the country and even the White House has succumbed to it: No coherent identityitis. In the way that the media highlights and frames mass shootings as a sort of ghoulish entertainment and ignores far more serious events, you might have missed the connection between the shootings in Oregon and Obama’s conduct this week. There’s a great deal of commonality between those murders and the disaster in the Middle East that Obama touched off with his ridiculous Arab Spring and Iran deal, a disaster that certainly has resulted in many more deaths and holds out the terrible...

The lying President of the United States said this, “We know that the states with the most gun laws tend to have the fewest gun deaths. So the notion that gun laws don’t work, or just will make it harder for law-abiding citizens and criminals will still get their guns is not born out by the evidence.” Right… Only in the mind of Barack Obama. Would the President like to attempt some fifth grade level research? Here’s 15 states with the strictest gun laws (in order): California, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Rhode Island, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Michigan,...

From Bradford Richardson writing at The Hill: Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson says a nonprofit Islamic advocacy group broke the law by calling for him to drop out of the presidential race. “The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) held a public press conference demanding that I withdraw from the presidential race,” Carson said in an email to supporters Saturday. “Here’s the catch – CAIR is a tax-exempt nonprofit, and the IRS rules explicitly prohibit such groups from intervening in political campaigns on behalf of – or in opposition to – a candidate,” the email continues.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Former President Bill Clinton, in a keynote address to West Virginia Democrats on Friday night, touched on background checks for gun owners in the wake of the Oregon community college mass shooting. “Those of us who grew up in hunting country—and who believe the 2nd Amendment guarantees everybody the right to keep a gun to go hunting, to sports shoot and to protect themselves and their families—most of us think it’s crazy that we don’t do background checks,” Clinton said. Ticket sales for the party’s Jefferson-Jackson fundraising dinner spiked upon news of Clinton’s appearance. About 2,000 people...

FRANKLIN, Tennessee — GOP frontrunner Donald Trump offered a ringing defense of gun rights and the Second Amendment to an enthusiastic standing-room-only crowd of 3,000 Tennesseans on Saturday. An overflowing audience of an additional 1,000 stood outside The Factory in Franklin, Tennessee in the drizzling rain as they listened to the rally on speakers. It was a huge turnout for Trump, whose campaign team announced the event less than 72 hours earlier. “I’m a very, very big 2nd Amendment person,” Trump told the crowd. “It’s very important to me.”

When President Obama spoke in reaction to the heinous October 1 attack on Umpqua Community College, he went beyond his usual calls for more gun control and suggested instead that America consider following the path blazed by Australia and Great Britain. In the mid-1990s Australia and Great Britain both instituted what were virtually complete bans on firearm possession.Obama referenced the bans thus: We know that other countries, in response to one mass shooting, have been able to craft laws that almost eliminate mass shootings. Friends of ours, allies of ours — Great Britain, Australia, countries like ours. So we know...

This one’s gonna burn a little, so might want to rub some salve in it if you’re not a pro-life person. Michael Deppisch spotted a tweet by Sarah Marian Seltzer, who was upset with the NRA about the UCC shooting. What Deppisch wrote had her retaliating with the best three-word response she could think of: “GFY.” [Explicit language follows*]

Tennessee Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey said in a Facebook posting Friday that “fellow Christians” should consider getting a handgun carry permit after the mass shooting in Oregon. Survivors told authorities the gunman demanded at least some of the victims state their religion before shooting them at a community college. In his posting, Ramsey, also the Tennessee state Senate speaker, called recent U.S. mass shootings “truly troubling.” “I would encourage my fellow Christians who are serious about their faith to think about getting a handgun carry permit,” Ramsey wrote. “I have always believed that it is better to have a gun...

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Saturday channeled 1970s action star Charles Bronson in defending Second Amendment rights in the aftermath of the shooting at an Oregon community college that left nine dead. Trump said in a rally in suburban Nashville that he has a handgun carry permit in New York. He added that any attacker will be "shocked" if he tries to assault him, and that he would emulate Bronson in the vigilante film "Death Wish." "Can you imagine with Trump, somebody says, 'Ohhh, all these big monsters aren't around, he's easy pickins, and then...

The 26-year-old killer who gunned down classmates inside an Oregon college spared a student and gave the "lucky one" something to deliver to authorities, according to the mother of a student who witnessed the rampage. Shooter Christopher Sean Harper-Mercer later killed himself as officers arrived, Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin said Saturday. Authorities have not disclosed whether they have an envelope or package from Harper-Mercer. However, a law enforcement official said Saturday a manifesto of several pages had been recovered.

Well Obama, what do you have to say now? It was on Church Street at Parramatta just after 4pm yesterday. Exclusive footage obtained by 7 News shows 15-year-old Farhad Jabar Khalil Mohammed walking along, dressed in black, waving a gun and shouting at police. The video shows the final moments of this radicalised teenagers. As it all unfolds, just metres away behind a wall, young children play at the Good Start day care centre. Farhad Jabar Khalil Mohammed must have known it was a suicide missions, but what he was doing was worth dying for, was worth killing Curtis Cheng...

"I want to talk about pretending," Stephen Colbert said on last night's episode of The Late Show, which aired just a little over 24 hours after the regon shooting. "That is something that I know a little bit about."

Was he a Half-White Supremacist? According to the LA Times, Chris Harper Mercer, the Oregon killer, was a "White Supremacist". One slight problem. Mercer identified as multi-racial. His mother was black. He doesn't seem to have even known his father. He identified with black TV killer Vester Lee Flanagan. This doesn't seem to have stopped the media with George Zimmerman who was labeled a white Hispanic, so maybe Chris Harper Mercer was a white Black? Was he a Half-White Supremacist? I'm not an expert on "White Supremacism", but being half-black and then shooting a bunch of white Christians would make...

And those victorious Republican candidates are selected in primaries where the financial support of deep-pocketed pro-gun lobbying groups like the National Rifle Association can prove decisive and the voters who turn out are the kind of conservatives who don't take kindly to a candidate in favour of greater restrictions on gun ownership. It's a political environment where Republican officeholders face grassroot challenges if they're deemed insufficiently conservative but never if they're not moderate enough. Congress isn't just against high-profile gun regulation - even measures supported by a large majority of the American people - it also prohibits federal efforts to...

There are plenty of gun control laws in America, but the President isn't enforcing them. Maybe that's because the illegal guns are used by blacks to kill blacks. After the mass shooting at a community college in Oregon, President Barack Obama once again took the opportunity to lecture us Americans with righteous indignation about guns in America. “Somehow this has become routine. The reporting is routine. My response here at this podium ends up being routine. The conversation in the aftermath of it. We’ve become numb to this.” Chris Harper Mercer, a 26-year old white man, killed 10 people and...

The lieutenant governor of Tennessee is encouraging his “fellow Christians” to go out and get handgun permits in the wake of the Oregon college shooting. Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey posted a message to Facebook saying how disturbed he was by reports that the gunman asked people if they were Christian and then, if they answered affirmatively, shot them in the head. Ramsey said of the spike in mass shootings, “Whether the perpetrators are motivated by aggressive secularism, jihadist extremism or racial supremacy, their targets remain the same: Christians and defenders of the West.” He then extended this bit of advice...

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is criticizing President Obama for his comments about a mass shooting at a community college in Oregon that left 9 dead. “Unfortunately that is the approach with President Obama on every issue, is that he seeks to tear us apart, he seeks to politicize it and it’s worth remembering he is ideological and he’s a radical,” Cruz said on "The Mark Levin Show," as first reported by Buzzfeed News. “You know, as his former chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel said, ‘you never let a good crisis go to waste,’ and that is sadly his approach.” The...
