Jimmy "Malaise" Carter surprised even his fellow Democrats recently with an unprecedented attack on a president by a former president. Today, Carter tried to explain. Among Carter's recent comments about President Bush, published by the Columbus (Ga.) Ledger-Enquirer: "I have been disappointed in almost everything he has done. ... I thought he would be a moderate leader, but he has been very strictly conforming to some of the more conservative members of his administration, his vice president and his secretary of defense in particular. More moderate people like Colin Powell have been frozen out of the basic decision-making in dealing ...

Reunification of China Is Necessity of History: CommentaryHuman history has entered the new century and the new millenium. How should the United States, the world's biggest developed country; and China, the world's largest developing country, make a correct positioning and choice in regard to the Taiwan issue, the most important and most sensitive core issue in Sino-US relations, not only affects the future of the two countries of China and the United Sates, but also has a bearing on the development of peace, stability and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region and the world as a whole, it has become a ...

Gen. Sherman knew the place was full of knaves and people hooked-on-power, and Grant could accomplish nothing good by trying to deal with. His words are as powerful and true today - to be heeded by anyone thinking of sending a child to "intern."

I just watched Pat Caddell and Alan Douchbagwitz on Hardball, and I have to say it was refreshing to hear Caddell. I really enjoyed his honest thoughts and fair opinions during the election. Douchbagwitz was his normal rude self though, kinda made my stomach sour.

We Created a Monster Albanian terrorists, armed by the West to fight in Kosovo, are destroying Macedonia, says Canada’s former ambassador to Yugoslavia JAMES BISSETT When Canadian pilots joined in the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia in March 1999, we were told by Lloyd Axworthy and Art Eggleton that the intervention in Kosovo was necessary to prevent the violence there from spreading and de-stabilizing the Balkans. Yet we now know that long before the bombing it was NATO countries themselves that were inciting violence in Kosovo and attempting to de-stabilize that Serbian province. Moreover despite the bombing the violence has ...

I'm watching Jim Gilmore square off against scumbag McAuliffe on Crossfire and I'm sorry but Jim just doesn't cut it rhetorically. Is Brett Schundler the only guy out there who can debate skillfully and articulate the conservative view?

ISRAEL criticised America yesterday for banning warships of the US Sixth Fleet from docking at Haifa because of fears of a terrorist attack. Uzi Landau, the Israeli Internal Security Minister, complained that the ban, imposed after the bomb attack on the USS Cole in Yemen last year which killed 17 American sailors and injured 39 others, sent a signal of “weakness” to Islamic militants. “When Americans stop visiting Israel . . . the message to the terrorists in the Middle East is that the United States is afraid, that the United States is retreating under pressure from terrorism,” he said. ...

Is MS to blame for Code Red? By David Becker and Ian Fried, News.comJuly 31, 2001 1:10 PM PT URL: http://www.zdnet.com/zdnn/stories/news/0,4586,5094985,00.html While network administrators wait and prepare for another round of attacks from the Code Red worm, Microsoft is drawing much of the blame for the pernicious infection. Once again, security experts say the speed and stability of the Internet is at risk because of Code Red, a malicious worm that takes advantage of a hole in Microsoft's Internet Information Server (IIS) Web server software. The worm infected more than 300,000 servers and attacked the White House Web site last ...

Moses On the Great Seal. On July 4, 1776, Congress set up a committee consisting of John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson to design an official seal for the new country. "Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God" is the motto Benjamin Franklin wanted under the United States Great Seal. As an illustration, he proposed Moses (With the face of George Washington) dividing the Red Sea and the Pharaoh (Modeled after George III) flooded in his chariot. Thomas Jefferson had an equally erudite proposal - the children of Israel guided through the wilderness by a cloud and a pillar ...

ECONOMIC slowdown in the United States has forced the Bush Administration to borrow billions of dollars to provide its much-vaunted tax rebates. After saying for months that a huge projected budget surplus was “the people’s money” and would be returned in tax cuts and rebates, President Bush has found that the Treasury cannot fund them. Instead of paying off about $57 billion (£40 billion) of the national debt, as it had intended, the Government will borrow $51 billion this quarter. About $38 billion of this will fund tax rebate cheques that have already been sent out. As part of a ...

When the leftists come out with a bunch of hogwash they make no apologies for their damnable lies and distortions. If a conservative makes an error and a leftist calls that person or group a liar, every effort is made to explore the possible source of the error, if any, and straighten out the matter. My mother was like that. She wanted to verify everything she said in order to keep her credibility. I soon found out that her explanations fell on deaf ears, because those who don't want to hear, will not hear. Thus, I developed what might be ...

Nicodemo S. Scarfo Jr. might seem an unlikely champion of civil liberties in the high-tech age. Mr. Scarfo, the son of the jailed mob boss "Little Nicky" Scarfo, has been awaiting trial on charges of running gambling and loan sharking operations for the Gambino crime family. But like so many businessmen today, Mr. Scarfo kept his data on his personal computer; and like many other businessmen, he encrypted the sensitive stuff to protect it from prying eyes. Today, a federal judge in Newark will hear defense motions to throw out evidence gathered by a controversial new law enforcement technology: a ...

Software Called Capable of Copying Any Human VoiceBy LISA GUERNSEY T&T Labs will start selling speech software that it says is so good at reproducing the sounds, inflections and intonations of a human voice that it can recreate voices and even bring the voices of long-dead celebrities back to life. The software, which turns printed text into synthesized speech, makes it possible for a company to use recordings of a person's voice to utter things that the person never actually said. The software, called Natural Voices, is not flawless — its utterances still contain a few robotic tones and unnatural ...

Agendas in the classroom Linda Bowles There was a time, let's call them the good old days, when parents could send their little children off to school with full confidence they would be in good hands. Sadly, the good old days are gone. It is appropriate that most of the criticism of government schools deals with academic failure. But that is only half the wretched story. Contrary to what many parents think, most of those responsible for the education of our children are not socially and politically neutral. They are ideologues with an agenda. While a good case could be ...

For those of you that haven't been following this epic saga, start here:VA Libertarian Candidate for Gov Is Anti-RKBA That was the post that started all of this. We report, you decide. From: Bill Redpath The ultimate goal of firearms policy is to maximize among the people the rights to life, liberty and property. To this end: I support private firearms ownership. I oppose government registration and ...

Ancient peoples only loosely related to modern Asians crossed the Arctic land bridge to settle America about 15,000 years ago, according to a study offering new evidence that the Western Hemisphere hosted a more genetically diverse population at a much earlier time than previously thought. The early immigrants most closely resembled the prehistoric Jomon people of Japan and their closest modern descendants, the Ainu, from the Japanese island of Hokkaido, the study said. Both the Jomon and Ainu have skull and facial characteristics more genetically similar to those of Europeans than to mainland Asians. Also, he notes that genetic evidence ...

Doesn't seem to matter and this almost since he became President. Why? What can W. do. Will anyone ever agree? Is this Country turning into one long soap opera?
