..... If you were to believe the press and social media, we’re in the midst of a ‘killer whale uprising’. But claims about their murderous intent are blatantly untrue. The evidence doesn’t stand up. Killer whales do attack, and sometimes kill, trainers in captivity (not surprisingly) but, unlike polar bears, great white sharks and many other top predators, they have never killed a person in the wild. How many attacks have taken place? So what’s happening? Since May 2020, there have been more than 500 reported attacks on sailing boats, as well as some fishing boats, RIBs and motorboats. It...

New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was shot and critically wounded in Midtown early Sunday morning and is now clinging to life at Bellevue Hospital, police and sources said. The shooting took place on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue around 2 a.m., according to police, who did not identify Boyd as the victim. However, sources said it was the 29-year-old NFL cornerback. Cops said there have been no arrests and the shooting is under investigation. Boyd, a 5-11 defensive back for Gang Green joined the team this year after coming up with the Minnesota Vikings before the 2019 season....

My wife age 81 recently developed the need to see a cardiologist for A-fib (non-valvular) which has been releasing blood clots into her lungs causing pulmonary edema and inability to breathe on two occasions requiring EMT intervention and hospitalization. These events have also caused her to lose most of her ability to ambulate and have also caused loss of mental clarity. The hospital has not provided us with a referral to a cardiologist only saying my wife needed to see one on an out-patient basis, and this despite having referred her the second time to a skilled nursing facility for...

America stands at a crossroads. The greatest crisis we face is neither foreign invasion nor financial ruin nor even the factional strife that now masquerades as governance. The gravest danger before us is trust, that “main pillar in the edifice of your real independence, the support of your tranquility at home, your peace abroad,” as Madison warned in Federalist Number Forty-Nine. The American people have been deceived, misled, manipulated, and betrayed by the very institutions designed to be their safeguard. These departments, much like the unchecked branches Publius feared, have grown ambitious beyond their constitutional boundaries. And now, at the...

Nothing was going to stop Alexa Anderson from stepping off the medal podium that night on May 30. Not when a biological male would be there up too. Anderson had just finished in third place in the girls' state championship high jump, marking her final Oregon high school track performance after four intense years of competition and training. But she wouldn't see the medal for all that hard work for several months, she claims.

In the final days of 1943, a damaged American B-17 struggled to stay in the air — its crew wounded, its engines failing. Then, out of the clouds, a German fighter appeared. What happened next became one of the most extraordinary acts of mercy in World War II.

The McCaughey septuplets were the equivalent of a viral sensation when they were born in 1997 as hysteria around the huge brood saw them thrown into the spotlight. Bobbi and Kenny McCaughey welcomed Nathan, Kelsey, Brandon, Joel, Natalie, Alexis, and Kenny Jr on November 19, 1997, in Des Moines, Iowa. The babies became the first septuplets in the world to survive infancy. They were born within six minutes of each other, nine weeks premature and only weighed between two and four pounds. Mom Bobbi was born with a malfunctioning pituitary gland that struggled to produce hormones to stimulate ovulation. She...

If ICE or other immigration agents go out of bounds, the place to fight them is the courts, not the streets —and New York pols from Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani on down are courting chaos if they play the issue otherwise. Consider City Councilman Shaun Abreu’s smear Wednesday, posting an inflammatory video that he claimed showed Homeland Security officers pulling a migrant out of an SUV in Washington Heights without due process. Abreu blasted the arrest as “deeply disturbing” and part of a “despicable pattern of intimidation,” huffing that agencies “carrying out [President Donald] Trump’s agenda of detaining people without due...

Anyone see this? In the Whitehurst Sullivan Burns & Blair Funeral Home's Guestbook for Jim Robinson, there was the following response to Joe Alfieri’s post there: “FreeRepublic gave a voice to millions? Lol. No. FR gave voice to thousands of people who probably shouldn’t talk about anything because Boomers are addicted to giving unsolicited opinions about things they simply don’t understand.” Bill Clinton

Skepticism about climate change has resurfaced, as some experts claim the exact causes of global warming remain unclear and that the policies addressing it are motivated more by money than by science. Richard Lindzen, Professor Emeritus of Meteorology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), has spent decades studying atmospheric science. He told the Daily Mail that the public hysteria surrounding global warming isn't actually based on realistic data. Climate change is the term used to describe Earth's warming, mainly as a result of human activity, such as burning coal, oil and gas. Scientists and climate activists have warned that...

Ukraine isn’t hanging about in trying to fix the damage caused by a megabucks corruption scandal exposed this week. Top officials are rushing to reassure Kyiv’s Western partners, after the alleged $100 million kickback scheme in the energy sector — which implicated current and former top officials, and some close associates of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy — troubled allies. “We must act quickly and decisively on the battlefield and act equally in vital areas within the state. The government’s task is to show Ukrainian society and partners that under no circumstances will we tolerate corruption and will respond quickly to any...

In one of the most uplifting passages of Scripture, we have this reassurance: “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1, ESV). To dwell in the shadow of the Almighty is to live under the promise of God’s protection. ...

The potential for a military clash between Turkey and Israel is growing. There are several colliding points, and each one of them has the potential to become a full-scale war, despite mechanisms designed to avoid conflict. The most obvious is the Syrian front. Reports indicate that Turkey plans to help Syria’s transitional government develop a military force of approximately 200,000 personnel (approximately 10–15 divisions). Turkey has assumed the role of protector of Syria’s president, Ahmed al-Sharaa (al-Jolani, his nom de guerre). Israel, for its part, has assumed the role of protector of the Druze minority in southwestern Syria, an area...

Political scientists at Harvard said Democratic victories in last week’s off-cycle elections were a sign of powerful backlash to Donald Trump’s presidency, but that Democrats could not afford to rest on their laurels ahead of the 2026 midterms. Tuesday’s elections added new fuel to debates over whether Democrats could best strengthen their coalition by shifting to the center or embracing their party’s left wing. Moderates Sherrill and Spanberger wielded their congressional experience and military and intelligence backgrounds to win governor’s seats. But Mamdani secured the New York City mayor’s office after running an unapologetically progressive campaign. Some Harvard faculty said...

Daily Readings from the USCCB“Before all this happens, however, they will seize and persecute you, they will hand you over to the synagogues and to prisons, and they will have you led before kings and governors because of my name. It will lead to your giving testimony. Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand, for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute.” Luke 21:12–15It could be said that these are among the least consoling words that Jesus ever spoke. Imagine what His disciples would have...

The political jousting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and rival former premier Ehud Barak ramped up Tuesday when the premier published a video on social media again questioning the latter’s relationship with US billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who is accused of sex-trafficking in minors. The video was published under the headline “What else has sex offender Epstein given to Barak?” According to Netanyahu’s video, Epstein manages the Wexner Foundation. Forbes says he serves as a trustee, and a spokesperson for the institution told the financial news outlet that Les Wexner, founder of the organization, severed ties with Epstein over a decade...

The story of Christianity, from its birth in persecution to its global witness today, is one of triumph through suffering. The Church was conceived in martyrdom and strengthened by the blood of those who refused to deny Christ. Across two millennia, it has known both glory and exile, power and abasement. Yet its endurance has never rested on wealth or empire but on the courage of believers who acted — who built, sheltered, defended, and bore witness in the face of mortal danger. Today, the question of Christianity’s survival bears both the weight of history and the anguish of the...

Although the Friday Politico "Playbook" story about freshman Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin was ostensibly focused on her not very convincing engagement with Democrats "looking for clues about which path it should chart out of the electoral wilderness," it was more than obvious that it was in reality not very subtle hype for her as a presidential contender in 2028. And speaking of "clues" it shows that Politico reporter Adam Wren, who produced this Slotkin 2028 campaign promo laughably dressed up in Slotkin's existential political "search," seems to have little awareness of the sad state of the current Democrat party as...
