President Trump sent shockwaves throughout Washington, DC after making Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent the acting IRS Commissioner. Now, we may know why. As a consolation, Long was awarded the U.S. Ambassadorship to Iceland, not exactly a plum position. But it was either Iceland or the unemployment line. The Washington Post reported Saturday that Long was booted from his position after he refused to hand over certain taxpayer data on suspected...

We welcome President Trump’s work to stop the killing in Ukraine, end the Russian Federation’s war of aggression, and achieve just and lasting peace and security for Ukraine. We are convinced that only an approach that combines active diplomacy, support to Ukraine and pressure on the Russian Federation to end their illegal war can succeed. We stand ready to support this work diplomatically as well as by upholding our substantive military and financial support to Ukraine, including through the work of the Coalition of the Willing, and by upholding and imposing restrictive measures against the Russian Federation. We share the...

By Dr. John BergsmaMy father once served as the chaplain for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut. (U.S. Navy chaplains also serve the Marines and the Coast Guard). I have fond memories of that beautiful seaside city. In any event, perhaps the only bit of Coast Guard culture that I absorbed during my dad’s tour of duty was the motto: Semper Paratus, “Always Prepared,” which seems an appropriate summation of the theme of this Sunday’s Readings, which stress vigilance in the Christian life. In fact, these Readings feel like something we might get in November, closer to...

PERSEVERANCE The idea of perseverance is an important component in athletics, the military, studies, and even in religion. Perseverance is the master key, the secret of success when you are in the middle of the struggle. It is that extra, the second air, the capacity to overcome the discouragement. Our society is making a lot of progress. We have technology and facilities that no one in history ever had before. The new generations can grow up today more healthy, and live longer. But we do have an Achilles' heel: the absence of the spirit of perseverance. A young man...

NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani is a silver-spoon socialist shamelessly living in a dirt cheap rent-stabilized apartment – and it’s time to move out, fed up neighbors and critics told The Post. Mamdani, 33, who rakes in $142,000 a year as a state assemblyman and whose wealthy family includes his filmmaker mom and professor dad, has been living in a $2,300-a-month, one-bedroom pad in Astoria — galling facts that reached critical mass Saturday. “It’s unfortunate that he supports policies that are great for the fortunate few [who] get these apartments,” said Jerry DeFazio, 33, a mechanical engineer who lived in...
