1992 was a wild year. You couldn’t turn on the radio without hearing about Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Achy Breaky Heart”; Wayne’s World was in theaters (though I was more of an Aladdin girlie at the time — I was 8), and restaurateur-actor Frank Pellegrino Sr. had the brilliant idea to package and sell marinara sauce from his family restaurant, Rao’s. Fast-forward 30 years, and Rao’s Homemade Marinara is the undeniable GOAT of retail pasta sauces. As of 2022, Rao’s sales (which include the pasta sauces as well as other retail products, like frozen pizzas and shelf-stable soups) reached $580 million,...

On Thursday’s broadcast of CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) responded to criticism that 2024 Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris hasn’t given enough clear details on her economic proposals by stating that “you could learn a lot from the way that she’s prioritized the policies she has.” Co-host Becky Quick asked, “In terms of the long-term capital gains, that’s a big break with the Biden administration as well, instead of going to the 44% that Biden had proposed, she’s now talking about people making $1 million or more paying 28%. But there is some confusion about the...

As Colorado lawmakers debate over how to confront rapidly increasing housing costs, more than a dozen city and town councils on the Western Slope have voted to support allowing local taxes on vacant homes and short-term rentals. The concepts, pitched by the Colorado Association of Ski Towns, or CAST, would have to be passed by the Colorado legislature and approved by local voters before they could take effect anywhere. “The lack of available and attainable housing for employees in Colorado mountain resort communities has reached a crisis level,” CAST wrote in the legislative policy statement approved by the towns. “The...

A Los Angeles County supervisor urged her constituents to speak up after California announced a proposal to release a convicted serial sexual predator, dubbed the "Pillowcase Rapist," to a neighborhood in the High Desert. Sir Keir Starmer is facing mounting criticism from Labour MPs and party grandees over his plans to scrap £1.5bn in winter fuel payments for pensioners, ahead of a Commons vote on the issue next Tuesday. In a sign of the problem facing the prime minister, 10 Labour MPs have signed a non-binding early-day motion calling for the measure to be delayed, while peers have also criticised the policy that would end support for 10mn pensioners. “When we won the election, there was a lot of hope, and that sense of hope is being chipped away,” said Clive Lewis, MP for...

What happened in Brazil this past week — a magistrate suspended Twitter and threatened telecommunication companies, as well as Apple and Google — did not happen in a vacuum. To briefly sum up the order handed down: Brazilian Supreme Court justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered that Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) be completely de-platformed, citing government speech rules against hate and “disinformation.” Any Brazilian citizen caught using a VPN to skirt the legal order could face fines that equal about $9,000. Moraes has also attempted to freeze Starlink accounts in the country, Musk’s satellite and internet service. What is happening...

The video game Star Wars Outlaws is to be released this week. The game is set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi — so in the universe of the original, still-greatest film trilogy — and has been several years in development. According to its “narrative director” Navid Khavari, “We didn’t just look at the original films, we looked at George Lucas’s own inspirations: Akira Kurosawa, World War Two movies like The Dambusters and spaghetti westerns. You see the care that was taken in that original trilogy to make it tonally consistent. We need to make this...

The USDA is preparing policy to implement the Sustains Act, determining who will own “environmental services,” which include the air we breathe, photosynthesis, pollination, and the health benefits of open space. This step is critical for proponents of the United Nations’ sustainable development agenda to achieve, as it will provide the path to transfer America’s real assets from private citizens to federal and international interests. The earlier attempt to accomplish this was stopped when the Natural Asset Company scam was soundly defeated in January. Nevertheless, the Biden-Harris Administration is preparing to determine ownership of natural processes on private lands as...

...Approximately 4 billion years ago, an asteroid hit Ganymede. Now, a Kobe University researcher has discovered that the Solar system's biggest moon's axis shifted as a result of the impact...the asteroid was around 20 times larger than the one that ended the age of the dinosaurs on Earth...Ganymede is the largest moon in the Solar System, bigger even than the planet Mercury, and is also interesting for the liquid water oceans beneath its icy surface. Like the Earth's moon, it is tidally locked, meaning that it always shows the same side to the planet it is orbiting and thus also...

An international team of ocean, Earth and marine scientists has found evidence supporting a theory that a certain oxygen isotope ratio in seawater has changed slowly over the past 540 million years. In their study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the group analyzed rocks from the Ordovician period.Over the past half-century, earth scientists have debated the possibility of changes in the ratio of 16O to 18O (written as δ18O) in seawater over the past 540 million years. Some have put forth arguments claiming no change has occurred, while others report evidence that it has increased.The...

Washington CNN — Judge Tanya Chutkan has set a schedule in the federal election subversion case against former President Donald Trump that will allow prosecutors to release never-before-seen evidence, such as grand jury transcripts, ahead of the presidential election. The deadline for the filing from prosecutors is September 26, according to the latest order from the judge, which largely sides with special counsel Jack Smith’s proposed schedule discussed at Thursday’s hearing. Trump’s defense team had sought to delay the public release of evidence in the case until after the November election.

Its a small difference, but a real one.Go into your operating system and for all WiFi connections set MAC address randomization. For Windows 11 it is under Network & Internet -> WiFi right at the bottom -- "Random hardware addresses."For Android it is on by default for WiFi connections -- check all of them you use, and it should be on.I suspect IOS on Macs has a similar feature.Unfortunately for most systems there is no similar setting for hardware connections (e.g. cabled.)This didn't used to matter much in the world of IPv4 because MAC addresses do not travel beyond the local...
