“CNN reported that the weapon was a Christmas present to his son”

Accessory to murder.

"Accessory to murder."

If the father gave the gun to the son innocently then there should be no charges. This prosecution will make every parent in the country liable for anything their children did. If you want to get rid of the second amendment this is one way to do it

By the way, your perspective is anti-freedom and rather disgusting.

It shouldn’t be illegal to give your teenager a firearm, but you should be responsible enough to know if your child is ready for one.

No one seems to complain about doing firearms training to get a conceal/carry. Why would it be bad to mandate firearms training if they are a minor?

Politely disagree.
Investigated the man boy for online threats to the school
Interviewed the man boy and parents.
Advised the parents of the threat their minor child could pose.
Advised the parents to lock up their weapons.

...the parents bought him a weapon after a clear and known problem.

If these things are true, then the parents are responsible for the outcome of their minor man boy. They should be charged and they’ll be sued into poverty.

H also gave the gun to his kid AFTER having been interviewed and warned by the FBI. Murder charges sound about right to me.

C’mon we all know there are limits to freedom. Giving a gun to an immature troubled 14 year-old after he has made threats is tantamount to shouting Fire! in a crowded theater. Parents are responsible for their children.

My dad gave me my first “gun” when I was 9 years old. But, we lived in the country, our nearest neighbor was a mile away and we had wild dogs that loved our chickens, ducks and goats.

The rifle was a used, single shot, long rifle Remington. After I got the gun, I killed several wild dogs with it and our livestock losses stopped.

There’s no way my dad would have given me a gun in urban Georgia with all the shootings in past years.

My son (in his forties) has an AR. It’s in my safe 40 miles from his house because he has a young step son. He trusts him but you never know.
